To control each door light separately, connect to the door switch on B piler (trace the wire to driver side fuse box). Switch is "negative on" so negotiate wire from bulb connects to the switch and positive goes to constant positive. You can use fuse #42 (door lock). Remember to use "add a fuse" with 5 amp fuse.
Duc, excited to install in my daughter's 2015 the door courtesy lights. Thanks to your video this will be a snap. I did the same for my 2013 Honda Pilot EX-L because it only brought reflectors. Now it has courtesy lights like the front doors. I routed the wired inside the cable cover so it would not be seen when opening the door. I will do the same for my daughter's Accord. Thanks again.
i have a 07 accord. Door light came standard with my car however the driver side stop working along with the door open indicator on the dash. Is there a relay that control this that i can replace?
So both doors will light up even though only one side is open since it's running off the same wire? I might do the constant positive to the pin and then negative to the door switch so only 1 turn's on and turns off with the door.
@@ducducgoose Thanks for answering. Looks like I’ll have to take a bit of time to connect the negative to the door switches if I don’t want both turning on. Do you know how to wire the front lights to turn on with the rear light? I saw it on the forums and want to do it possible.
@@ducducgoose No, couldn’t find it anywhere. I’d like to do that mod since it’s weird not having the front lights turn on. I usually get home at night and I like to grab everything but can’t see well with the rear light. I even have a bright LED but can’t see sometimes
@@Newyen6MT I know it's not ideal, but it wouldn't hurt having all the lights on. They are LED so they last for a long time. Mine still works after 6 years.
Duc Le - Great information. Do you or any other viewers know if the harness for the illuminated door sills can be purchased separately? If so, do you know the part number? I already installed the "non-illuminated" ones, but would prefer to use a harness instead of the D-sub connectors.

What is the purpose of metal wire? The socket where both wires connected to, does that automatically turn light off when doors closed? Hit me up, thanks.
The purpose of the metal wire is to allow you to feed the wire thru more easily. And yes when you connect the wire to the gray socket, the light turns off when the door close just like your dome light turns off after 30 seconds.
Can these lights be spliced with the illuminated door sills circuit? Since, the illuminated door sills are plugged up in the gray socket by the fuse box.
Nice love the video I'm doing this next I put up a video on how you can have your front map light turn on and dim out with your dome light when you unlock the car or open the door I have a 2014 accord sport and some of us don't have that option check it out if your looking to get that working for your self
Duc, Since you already had access to the rubber tube between the door and the body of the car why didnt you run the wires thru the tube in stead of having them visible when the door is open?
I did that on my driver side and it took literally 30min to get it through. So I got lazy and just feed it through on the passenger side. Is hard to notice the cable though.
Next time put a little grease or vasaline on the wire when putting it thru and upgrade to stiffer wire as an initial guide. I used 14ga wire first and greased it so it wouldnt grab onto the boot when going thru. It only took me seconds once I figured out the grease trick.
I am sorry for not saying but your video was the reason for me putting an LED light strip on my wifes 2013 Accord. It didnt have any lights when the doors opened and I needed help and your video was great. Thanks a bunch...

Can I use 22 gauge wires for the wiring, instead of 18-20 gauge?
thanks man but i dont want the light at all on its way to bright any suggestion on how to turn it off ?
The way it can only turn off is when the door is close, but when you close the door you don't see the light anyway.
@@ducducgoose so there is no light bulb to pop out? the issue is when exiting the car its very bright while opening the door
@@markcameroon6613 oh I see what you mean. Yes you can take off the light cap and replace it with dimmer bulb if you want.

Thanks for sharing. Will be doing this in a couple weeks. Honda mad me up set by not putting this in the car. I have the 2014 Honda EX.
I totally agreed, this should be a standard on all the Honda, putting a lens cover there is such a tease.

Surprised to see a 2008 honda has the door lights and the 2017 accord doesn’t
The sport trim level doesn't have it. It was only available for EX-L trim level and up, but it wasn't too hard to add in the lights.
whats the difference between the 18 and 20 gauge wires?
Is how thick the wire is. Higher number means the thickness is smaller.
Oh alright. Will it change how bright the light would be?

It's light that will illuminate the ground so you can see what you're stepping on. Really helpful in dark area.

It's worth it for me, especially when it's dark at night and you want to make sure where you are stepping out to.
