Hi K, I'm chuckling away here about your comments on the Loch Ness Monster, I live in Inverness so Nessie is very much a part of the Highland culture, and the jury's still very much out on whether she exists, I think she does and is very clever at keeping herself hidden. Thanks for your video, lovely pictures and colouring 💖
Thank you K for these snippet videos they are always fun and helpful to me. I've watched your videos since I started colouring and have learned so much from you about colouring techniques and different things to use to get awesome effects and of course sparkly shiny goodness ✨️ 😁 so fun to see you're going to have a go at the simpler books....will be so interested to see your style in them. I have a few but haven't coloured in them yet. I haven't coloured anything actually for about 4 months now. I just lost my mojo all of a sudden ( I had a toxic situation in my life that caused it but that's been resolved now) I'm struggling to restart so watching your snippet videos is really helpful atm. Just little bits to help inspire me. Yourself, Maia and doodlerobot in particular are all very helpful in this area with your tips, techniques and outside of the box thinking 😆Thanks to you guys I'm really itching to get back into it with some new ideas and different mediums ....oil pastels is one I'm really excited about trying 😁
So sorry to hear about you going through a difficult time but glad it’s resolved now. Hope you get a chance to get back into your colouring, it’s definitely really exciting to use a variety of mediums, oil pastels are especially fun as they are so vibrant and easy to blend. Thank you for your kind words, they mean a lot!
Go ahead with those colouring snippets videos! I really enjoy watching them and love the idea to see little snippets out of different pages you are working on. It's very interesting, helpful and fun to watch! 😊
I've seen quite a few colorists avoid alcohol markers because they struggle to blend them, either through inexperience or paper problems... obviously if you plan to leave it as marker only you need the contrast...but if you are going in with pencil after anyway you really don't need to. Just pick the midtone color you want the area to be. Use any pencil you like over the top for shading, but you do need an opaque pencil if you want to lift highlights. It's nice to have a selection of lighter colors but you can really get by with just a white, and perhaps an ivory/cream, if you don't want to invest in a full set of opaque pencils. I've done multiple pages with a blended alcohol marker base and a flat colored one to compare.. and I can't tell the difference in the end, other than it took me longer to do the blended base. It's way faster and just stressful to just flat base, I also find my edges/finish are nicer when I'm not trying to rush and blend the markers, just take my time to put the single marker down cleanly. You don't even need a ton of markers, you can use the same basic colors on various elements.. for example the same green on all the plants.. and change them up by simply choosing different pencils for the shading and highlight. The same is true if you wish to base in waterbased markers, or waterbased media such as neo, inktense, watercolor pencil, etc. Just pop down a flat midtone color. Use alcohol to blend your waterbased media if you wish to avoid paper damage and bleeding.
Really good advice, thank you! I like the idea of trying to blend markers even though you could always colour on top with pencils. I need more practice with using them I think! Thanks for all the tips 😊❤️
@@ColouringwithK For sure.. and alcohol marker alone can produce lovely work. A lot of it is paper, just like with pencil.. some book papers are just about impossible to blend nicely on regardless of skill level. But if you are avoiding using them.. just a suggestion that may make them more enjoyable.
Hi K, good on you with that comment, girl👏. It's about time someone else has said something. Take no notice. We all know this is not your full-time job, and we know how you feel disappointed when you don't have enough pages done. You can only do what you can do when you have a full-time job. You do a fantastic job preparing videos for us, whether they are full or snippets, because I learn a lot from both. K, some people are just plain nasty and are jealous of your talent. Just carry on as you are and don't change anything. Take care and happy colouring. Kind regards Samantha ❤️ 💖
I absolutely love these videos. I learn so much, 😊because it gives me insight into your thinking. Your pictures always look so professionally done, and understanding how you get to those finished products is very, very useful. Your colour choices are wonderful and really appeal to me. The thanks for all your hard work. It's much appreciated.
Thank you so much for sharing these snippets with us K. Your pages are looking wonderful so far. I'm excited to see the finished results. Sending love and hugs xxx😊❤❤
Hello K! I really enjoy your snippets of coloring. You packed a lot of information into a very manageable amount of time. I don't have time to sit and watch 2 hours of coloring, but I can manage snippets of coloring and get some good ideas at the same time. Thanks again!😊
I love how your pages are coming along. I can't wait to see the finished product in your November pages video. The pink makes me smile too and we all need a reason to smile! I hope all is well for you and that you are smiling often. Blessings.
Great video K, i always learn alot watching and listening to you work! I love the picture, i have been using black more and more in my coloring too. ❤❤❤❤❤
Lovely video K i wish those tempera paint sticks blended they woukd be so great but they dont blend well at all i was a bit disappointed when u discovered that but i need to get mine out and try them in a background again with the gel crayon in top like you did great idea 💜💜
Yes I totally agree, they don’t blend at all because as soon as you put them down, they dry almost instantly so can’t be moved. It’s best, in my view, to use one colour in the Tempera sticks and then use gel crayons or oil pastels on top, a bit like shading for depth!
Hi Kay ... I really enjoyed seeing the zentangle owl when you used fineliner on only half of it. You can really see the difference when you outline the patterns !! ... I really struggle with zentangle images. This video really helped me !! Thanks xx
I love that pink background. Super bright and cheerful. And of course, sparkly. I find these snippets very nice to watch. Good variety of things going on. Can be watched in small chunks if time is limited. I'm not working on anything. I have 2 nearly finished images in Fur Balls to complete but I'm finding it hard to settle. I've been in the wars this past 3 weeks and it's really upset my composure. I'm also trying to finish a Christmas cross stitch picture I started many years ago. It's so beautiful and so close to completion but what's left is all dark greens and I'm struggling to see in this gloomy winter light and my cottage light. I've just been looking at daylight task lights. Have a good week K. Not long now until the next holidays.
Aww I’m sorry to hear you’ve been going through a tough time, hope things get better as soon as possible. Keep you in my prayers. I can’t wait until the holidays, I’m already very tired and it’s been such a busy term. Always is at school to be honest. Take care and look after yourself, best wishes 😊❤️
Thanks for sharing your snippets with us. I for one, really appreciate the time and effort that goes in to these videos and I really enjoy them. One Question...Does the mod podge extreme glitter shed at all once dry?
They all look lovely ❤ and of course the Loch Ness Monster is real……… coming from a Scottish person, that’s tourist industry part relies on it haha I am actually working on the bee page from the Rita Berman book, you done a while ago. I am following your tutorial 😊
