Honestly, if they made the core spawn a little less tanky people would be much more ok fighting the stone without the cheese. At the moment they are fast, tanky and damaging, and there are lots of them. Tome down the tankiness so you can kill them before thet hit you and keep their numbers down before they overwhelm you, and i think the event would be much better. It's inherently a fun event. it just needs some minor teaking to unlock the potential
ive found the easiest to deal with them is using the freeze cannon as driller, they freeze almost instantly allowing you to easily deal with them, but if you dont have a freeze driller? well start praying boi.
I feel like it is balanced, since it is literally o p t i o n a l. You can dig out a perfect arena (a flat surface), and it'll do the job. Or, you can use gunner's ziplines, which is technically not cheezing the event, but rather using an intended game mechanic.
Plasma cutter deals with them rather well, scout boomerang stuns them fast and reliable, c4 instagib the pillar and ziplines makes them completely helpless. There are a lot of ways to deal with core stone but if you playing something super specific like solo engie with smg and grenade launcher- yeah you cooked.
Its really telling that players would rather break the game in ways nobody could even comprehend rather than actually play the Core Stone. Wish they'd balance Core Stone already hahah
Ya true there only one option beside cheese is the zipline on solo iz kill it as fast as possible you will down no matter wat you do in solo so use bosco revive and med revive to deal damage try to survive 2-3 down will happen

Never touched core stone before this, I can certainly come up with more strats if needed. The mods are SandboxUtilities, CustomDifficulty2, a primitive navmesh viewer which is just a few nodes in Blueprint and I guess there is Health Number showing health % for the event.
haven't had many opportunities to test it out but I've heard that a pickaxe tunnel (just barely wide enough for your hitbox to fit) is too small for crawlers (and many other enemies too i think) to get in.
Me as the gunner: Zip line and wiggle back and forth while shooting it while the monsters helplessly try to get me. Toss shield down to smack it then run back up to zip. Rinse and repeat.
The core stone on solo is very challenging as the enemies are faster than you are and do a lot of damage. Unless you are playing as scout, kiting isn't really an option. Gunner can use his shields to safely let loose on the core once bosco mines it but then you are still going to take a beating waiting for the stone to regenerate so bosco can mine it again and for your shield to recharge so you can safely go in for another phase. Not impossible to do without cheesing but it's very annoying. They can either make the enemies have a damage reduction once the core stone is vulnerable to facilitate you being able to light it up without needing to burn your supports or make them slower so you can kite them more effectively.
@shadowlegend738 I personally would place that strategy into the cheesing category as there is nothing the enemies can do to kill you so long as you don't stray to close to the ground or get forced off the zip by any stray projectiles. The fact people would rather cheese the event instead of fighting it the way you are intended to highlights a problem with its design. And in my opinion it's just to much of a headache to do without cheesing.
I still think it's easy enough to just get a driller to place C4, detonate to start, use the flame shotgun overclock to delete the core stone stage from existence, repeat. It's so fast, any other teammates can just kill space monkies and the event is done pretty much as fast as it can play the stone building animation. This is just the build I run for driller, so....
I agree. It feels like I'm misunderstanding the dislike of this event. I've done it solo on every class and sure it's tense but, that's fun! Driller is definitely the best for it.
cryo+heat snap works for me. i don't think this is good solo cause load out for corestone damage is lacking. i should see how much charges do you the core with axes and maybe it's even easier than i thought
@@petercottantail7850 Works just fine, that's where the flamethrower shotgun overclock comes into play. You get point blank so all projectiles hit, and it removes the corestone from existence. Spawns are reduced in solo so it's not as bad, and Bosco can still do a little damage. Furthermore, using Bosco's rockets can help against the space monkies. Definitely easier with multiple people, but that's how DRG was meant to be played anyways. And yes, axes could really do some damage as well, but I don't like axes very much and prefer to bring neurotoxin and EPC.
I feel they should either reduce the amount of health the crawlers have, or make them bigger and reduce the amount that spawn so that they are easier targets and their weak points can be a bit more exploitable.
I think the driller zipline strat is better. If the cave is open enough often times I won't even bother with that, I'll just do it and train the crawlers
Lithophage is the most annoying enemy to fight due to how big of a pussy it is (runs away alot and its attacks are non stop) Ironically its even the most disgusting enemy in the game lol
Not sure if there's any name to it, I mod myself any necessary functionality in unreal to showcase game mechanics. You can spawn any event with Sandbox Utilities -> Creative -> Spawner -> bp_riftcrystal iirc -> select, then freecam and click
It really seems like ghost ship games doesn't have any will to improve core stone experience. I know their intention is to break the stone mainly, but it is just not fun to play... It really forces gunner's zipline or doing some crazy shit like this
meanwhile gunner needs 1 zipline and to spam e midair on said zipline and only get off when mining (using the shield while doing so) scout meeds to run around like a crackhead and slowly chipping away at the mining stages driller needs to clip into the map using his drills and just throw his bricks of c4 whenever it needs to be mined you're welcome
I have the engineer overclock for the nuclear grenade launcher. It breaks the core stone crust in a single hit and knocks a whole bar off the stone itself. I normally don’t shoot the crust unless I’m by myself though, I let my brother break the crust with a satchel charge and the I nuke it. Takes like 20 seconds
i do not understand the people who say they have no problems with this event either they play on haz 2 with unlimited shields or we are not playing the same event
Theres a good mix of players that want to skip and want to complete it normaly. I've skipped many with the last glitch (which is now patched) however in public lobbys about 1 in 10 people didn't like skipping it

Get All NavPoints in Sphere, Terrain Function Library, Server Only. Then spawned actors with tiny meshes given the corrdinates, but it'd be better to figure out how to use Assembly's drawing functions if possible.
See this video is my prime complaint about cheesing things, the time it took you to do this. I could have already finished the event and been on my way in the time it took you to get it all set up. Learn to do things the right way and you don't gotta cheese.

Standing on a thin terrain is reliable, it's placing platforms on it that is tricky. Besides, there are many unreachable objects in caves like plants and mushrooms...

I kind of like that there's multiple creative ways to handle corestone. It's interesting and emergent.
I think the easiest way to complete the event is to simply pull the rope above the core with the help of the Gunner

Bunker strat is the easiest. Especially the one with a resupply pod.
