Tip: Deep Tissue Injury bypass all the gear protection (the mudraptor shell only protects the chest, but the other parts...), making it one of the most powerful afflictions if used in combat with armored foes

Looking forward to the updated flak ammo comparison video :)
As typical with any choice of large hard point turrets, it’s up to preference. Want something that uses similar ammo to the smaller hard points? Double coilgun. Want a big powerful gun that has the capability for launching nukes? Railgun. Want more powerful ammo for cheap but not single shot? Flak.
Good stuff. Seeing it all lile this really makes me think changes are needed, explosive seems best in almost every scenario and I can't see myself using focused at any point.
Great job. At the beginning of a new company with friends, we undeservedly rejected the Flak Cannon, but based on your tests, it is cheaper and more effective than the Railgun Shell with C-4. However, the railgun of course has a Physicorium Shell and nukes are still the only way to be sure, but the flak looks a lot better and more versatile in the early-mid game. And if you accelerate the rate of fire with the help of an engineer ... Thanks for the tests!
As an engineer, it's not really possible to increase the rate of fire of turrets during campaigns. We can do it in sub editor, but our possibilities on submarines are low. wiring is for making your own quality of life additions to your submarine, like alarms for when reactor fuel is low, better automatic reactor control, some text displays, keeping the chaingun always revved up, that kind of stuff. not just plain upgrades, go talk to the submarine editors for that.
something interesting I have seen in a sub design using the flak cannon (the Minotaur) is a "Flak Cannon MK2" which fires way faster with the balance of jamming if you shoot too much. (awesome video by the way thank you InitialDesu)

Theres quite a debate, I've seen people talk about everything : fuel rods, frag grenade, uex, compound N, sodium, C4, oxygen tanks, ancient weapon, oxygenite shard... Oh, and toolbelts loaded with oxygenite/whatever you wish. I've even seen suggested salt bulbs/mutated pomegranate

amazing! the wiki is pretty sparse on the flak cannons, so i was never able to really make a good judgement call, especially when using them in singleplayer with AI manning all the guns. Now i see the light
The issue with explosive ammo is that if another crewman is swimming around the sub and you need you guard him from other creatures, you might accidentally hurt him from the AoE of the explosion.
Would it be possible to make a comparison of the three types of explosive ammo loaded into a railgun? I've heard that C4 is best for structure, Compound N does the most direct damage and UEX has the widest range, but I'm not sure
Frag granade have same pattern of damage as flak projectail, but deal mush more damage, C-4 good only against structures (It's really bad idea to use it in heavy weapon comparation). UEX is usefull only against big swarm and still mush worse then a frag granade. Compound N do more damage against armored targets because of burn damage instead of deep tissue injurity/lancelation/bleed, however is useless against fractal guard and other burn resistaant targets.
0:33 Physicorium get worst result - 15 shots to kill. 1:01 second place, 5:45 "HIGH DAMAGE; GOOD AGAINST ANY TARGET " - No. Medium damage and Good against unarmored targets.
Thanks to this video I was able to stomp on any enemy that threatened my crew & sub, flak cannon + explosive ammunition is easy mode, nothing can stand before us, mission in which we have to deal with tiger thresher swarms, eliminating hammeheads or the unexpected abyssal creature are now moments that are far more easily managable, fight that would take us +30 minutes, fight+repairing+healing+continue with the voyage, now takes us 5 or less to kill them and leave for minerals on the walls, beacon stations, etc

I know the railgun has the nuclear shell... but is it worth it anymore? the explosive flak is faster and has more ammo. Flak needs a nerf. It does better than a railgun!? Bruh.

But seriously thou.. they really need to up the railgun game to be relevant in game... Increase shell travel speed? Capability of piercing multiple enemies? Scratch that filling railgun shells with explosives make them a kind of hydrodinamic rail shell and a bit bigger and longer range. Make them on the lines of a specialized weapon to engage long distant targets. Increase its damage against single targets and skillfull gunners can end one line of enemies with a well place shot. Basic ammo on railgun APCRH rail shells HE shells(acts like the flak cannon exploding near enemies) and tactical Nuke shells of course and buff it up its damage and radius. Balance them out by making them draw a lot of power from the sub . We need smaller arms like remote machine guns. Remove coilguns and double coil guns... Chaingun and double chaingun are the goat
Beautiful gun. It's hard to say but imho flak cannon must be nerfed, and focused ammo must be buffed, as it need lead for crafting. Until it happened, good bye old friend railgun.
they only being reliable against large creature In real practice, it’s pretty bad at crowd due to how large the spread is, small creature may not even take damage at all, because the shell explode before reach the target and initial explosion isn’t big enough to reach them. You get more consistent and better result with spreader
@@InitialDesu I believe he is talking about setting up for comarisions. Spawning creatures having them sit still putting the weapons on and so fourth. Could be an idea for a video probably. That way people can experiment on their own to find out what they like.
