- I gotta fix my 2010 Ford Fusion, but I don’t wanna spend an arm and a leg doing it so I’m gonna try and fix it myself!
Can I get 100 likes????
For those of you who are interested, it cost me somewhere around $1200-$1500 and it took about 12-15 hours. I was quoted $5200-$6000 by two different body shops.
Don’t forget to like, share, and subscribe. Comments are also appreciated if you feel so moved.
Best part of filming something like this is if you forget where something goes, just hit rewind!!
😁
Haha, I did that a lot, sometimes it was helpful.
I got the exact same car with the exact same damages and only liability so I’m considering doing this myself as well. 😮💨 you made it look easy.
It wasn’t easy but it was worth it!
Glad you saved it! These 1st gen Fusions were very reliable good cars. Yours appears to be solid yet not rusted out like most I see of this era are now. Hang on to it especially with how darn crazy expensive things are now with this crap government we're stuck with for the moment. Hopefully few more years things will get better again!
Thanks, I agree. I’m hoping to put at least 200k miles on it, but as long as I don’t have to keep putting money into it I’ll keep driving it!
You stated your new to body repairs you could've fooled me excellent 👌 job.
Hey thanks!
Overall in price how much did it dent your pocket cuz I’m the exact same predicament at the moment
It was somewhere in the $1200-$1500 range, two different body shops quoted me $5200-$6000. It took me about 12-15hr. I didn’t enjoy it, but it was well worth it! Good luck!
Hey thank you for asking this question and thankful it got a response. Had similar damage to my fusion 🤦🏽
@@MartyA7X1 good luck to you. I will say it was well worth it even though it wasn't my favorite project. I'm way ahead compared to if I had to pay someone else or buy a new car. If you don't mind driving a car that doesn't look quite right this is the way to go!
"It's not perfect" brother it doesn't even look like you got into an accident😭😭😭 definitely using your vid to fix my 2012 fusion
Thanks!
So I'm back with a question, what do you mean by you have to paint at a certain temperature or else the paint won't work?
Thank you for the video what was the hardware kit you bought from Amazon the attach the bumper with the fender I really appreciate the help
I don’t remember exactly what I got but it was very similar to this: www.amazon.com/GOOACC-Retainer-Plastic-Fasteners-Chrysler/dp/B07L6FJGR4/ref=asc_df_B07L6FJGR4/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=693444347680&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=6565515765163348535&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9020401&hvtargid=pla-653030689150&psc=1&mcid=6493fd1cf9a63e14b37a3967e90aa62d
Almost identical repair I am doing tomorrow, my son had an accident and I have to fix it over the weekend. Tomorrow, I am going to the scrap yard where they have 5 ford fusions. I hope it will be enough parts for me. Headlight, front bumper enforcement, washer fluid tank, brackets for fender and hood. The total price is around 150-200 $. Bumper, fender and hood will be reused after small cosmetic job.
I wish you the best of luck! My local scrap yard was very picked over. Hopefully yours has some fresh fusions.
@@WeekendWoodworker yes they had, 175$ with tax, fixed and running.
You have an awesome channel! Just subscribed! :) Lots of good content! Sending love to your channel from mine at Collins Country:)
Thank you so much!
So I only need to replace my headlight and right fender, do I need to remove the bumper to do these things?
If memory serves, you will need to at least partially remove the bumper to get at the headlight. I’m not sure about the fender because that is not something I had to do.
Do you think it's doable for a guy who knows how to do a brake job? I hit someone car and mine have similar damages plus left headlight and probably the fender. Will junkyard parts work too?
If you know how to do a break job you know as much or more than me. I would have preferred to get my parts from my local salvage yard but all of the fusions were picked over. Good luck!
I have similar damage. It's like VERY similar damage, but I haven't been quoted yet. I have a 2011 sel 3.0, and I'm curious what the quote was for you.
I got two different quotes, both were around $5500.
How do you know if your radiator was okay? Also, thank you so much for this video. I have a 2010 Ford Fusion and was quoted close to 8k and have no money for a hooptie. I literally cannot express how grateful I am for this video.
Good question, I am I’ll equipped to answer so I’m not going to. I just made sure it wasn’t leaking and hoped for the best. I don’t do a lot of driving in this car so that helps too. You are very welcome. I’m happy to share my successes and failures for the sake of helping others.
Can you please share where did you find the parts?
and thanks for sharing this amazing video.
I got some from Amazon, and some from an auto part website but the name escapes me.
What we’re the tools used for this? Headed to scrap yard tomorrow for this exact same thing
Mostly basic tools, sockets, socket wrenches, screwdrivers, an impact drill is nice to have. I also bought a cheap set of “trim tools” off amazon, as well as a kit of various trim fasteners
@@WeekendWoodworker thank you so much! I was quoted almost $6,000 to fix my bumper, hood hinges, and 1 headlight. More than the car is worth! This is so helpful! ☺️
Glad I could help, I haven’t had any issues with my amateur repair job thus far.
@@annamilder1901Oh my that’s a lot LOL
7:33 PLEASE what type of screws did you use in this, i cannot find it anywhere.
I can’t remember for certain, but I got a kit of some sort from Amazon that had all sorts of different fasteners for Fords.
Doing almost the exact repair to my daughter’s 2011 Fusion. Hood is cocked to the driver side but still closes and unlatches.
I’m planning on removing it and using channel locks to bend the hinges back to the pass. side. Seems easier and cheaper than trying to dig under the fender to get to the hinge mount. Did you consider this route?
I’ll also need a bumper cover and grilles. How hard was it to attach the bumper cover?
Thanks!
I did not consider bending the hinges, but perhaps I should have. They are cheap but a pain to get at as you saw. Attaching the bumper cover was harder than it should have been, but hopefully it goes better for you.
Impressive!
Thanks, it’s not perfect but it get me back on the road!
You did an absolutely fantastic job. Thanks for doing this video. It was beyond helpful. What was the total cost of the parts? And also, why didn't you harvest parts from your local salvage yards?
First of all, thanks for your comment. I think I posted the total cost in the description, but if memory serves it was about $1500 all in. I went to my local salvage yard but all of the fusions were picked over so I had to buy all new parts. I will also add that she is still going strong and I haven’t had any issues due to the work I did.
Nice car
Thanks
I have the same car, its only the drivers side headlight that is a pain in the ass to change
The passenger side is no picnic.
@@WeekendWoodworker Your not located anywhere near NJ are you? Id pay you to do mine Same exact damage
@@anthonycarchidi4704 Haha, I am cheap, unfortunately I'm a bit west of NJ.
Wow not bad for an amateur!
Thanks!
My beloved Fusion was viciously attacked while parked by an animal driving Tundra. The animal ploughed accross my bumper and broke pretty much anything. Police found him in 10s thanks to dash cam. After that - nothing... They don't want to properly press the charges, guy miraculously pulled out some scam insurance that doesn't really exist and - that is it. It's pretty sobering when you dream about America, the most perfect country ever invented, and then you realize that in practice... Well... You know....
I’m so sorry that happened!
@@WeekendWoodworker Estimate from the shop was 4300
I fixed it pretty well for 6. Six. Just six.
Gorilla glue and elbow grease.
It works, and it even looks ok-ish
