Can't believed it has an actual key in the steering column. Thank you for taking us on the whole diagnosis trip. If I was the customer for sure I'd give the ECU replacement to you since you had the whole diagnosis.
My goodness what a bag of nails..I can only imagine your initial thought when you saw that red button…😊 Those that were there before you were on the right track but stopped well short of the station..brilliant fault finding Peter and even with all the complex ECU and maze of wires the straightforward and logical testing lead to the definitive answer..Very interesting and never be concerned about long winded..every step is a new piece learned for us watching 👍🏻
Excellent t/s. I'm new to Suzuki cars and have the same problem. Thanks, so much for the details you provided. I had to rewind/relisten to understand. I repaired medical diagnostic machines for 47 years and retired now. Component level t/s has solved many intermittent problems. Thanks or the help. Cars are harder to fix than machines in pretty rooms. I'm applying what I did to my first love, cars. Denny
Just watched for the second time. Lots of good fault finding/fix videos around but its the unravelling spaghetti ones that are the most fascinating. This one is 'A' class. But when you broke out the Snap-On, all hope was lost*. Goodness! One can get a nice little cottage in my corner for what 1 of those devices cost. Surely there's something more earthly(?) that can provide live data et al from the Swift ? PS:- *Just pulling your leg.
Nice video Peter some handy work in there tracking down the fault but on the other hand you done all the hard work I think the customer should let you finish the job
Excellent. Straightfoward and understandable trouble shooting. I´m experiencing similiar issues with my 2007 Swift. Viewing from the Bahamas. Wish I could ship you my vehicle. wouldn´t that be powerful!!!
You will have to invite me over for a holiday to fix it. That would be more powerful 😂😂😂 Watch the immobiliser light first to prove that it is ok. Does your one crank over ??
Great job, with those miles I might be tempted to just run with ur repair as I could be beyond economic repair if the ECU kit is too dear🤔 Thanks for sharing I love ur stuff, u do well with just a phone👍
I don’t like to knock anyone, but the choices they made might have been forced due to lack of knowledge or customer not willing to pay 🤷🏼♂️ This trade can be funny 🤣🤣
And I couldn’t say a thing about it, because I would have done the same repair myself if it meant getting the customer back on the road. Thanks for watching it Matt 🙏🙏👍
Christ on a bike 😳 despite unlimited use of google You’d struggle to find any rougher. Fair play to you for cracking on with it because not many would. We all like to have a head scratcher every once in a while after all everyday is a school day but I’d miss my dog growing up 👎
We remember the good old days Peter, when there was about 8 wires on an engine , modern technology, far far tooooo complicated for most customers and many garages , nice redxwire coming out of the ecu 😂😂😂🤠🤠🤠🤠🤠🤠, he will probably leave it as long as it runs , top diagnosis Peter , at least the guy can use it until he buys an ecu kit , with clocks barrel , ecu , back seats , indicative switch , boot lock , rear lamp and whatever else that is coded with it , and will change the speedo mileage , add both mileages together 😂😂👍😉
My Suzuki Aerio 2002 often does not start with the key. Sometimes does. Generally, when the engine is cold the chance of it starting with the key is higher, but sometimes even when the engine is cold it still does not start with the key. It always starts when I bypass all start-safety features and directly connect power to the solenoid attached to the starter. The problem is not with the starter/solenoid unit. I have a push button attached to the inside of a metal can. Accidental pushing of the button is unlikely. I learned that this car does NOT have a start relay. I have opened up the Transmission Position Switch (senser) and cleaned it well with electric grease. I have turned and adjusted it a bit here and there but no consistent result. What can be the remaining item that prevent starting from the key? Could the ignition switch have intermittent problem? How to check? Any help is appreciated.
It wasn’t too bad Michael, once I was able to prove what was good & bad it all worked out fairly handy. Don’t know how long it will last though 😬😬 Thanks Michael 🙏🙏
No James, it is only an antenna that omits a magnet field when powered up. It then awakens the key immobiliser chip which sent’s a signal back to it. It is all plastic externally. I like your thinking though 💪💪👍👍
Evening !!!! I've had a Bosch 30 years in business Auto Electrician larger garage refuse scan look delve into a Dihatsu Terios 1.5 Auto It shudders when cold , throws on O/D light flashing, holds / sticks in lower gears. Hard thing drive even across a flat city until warm Once warm re-set IGN on/off 2/3 times and light won't come back on drives smoothly, thus. Normally if you will It drove Newport 3 hours smoothly. Are you able to get fault codes or look at live data ?? I sounds like it could possibly be a intake air leak, the can improve when the engine warms up 🤔
@@zzhughesd ok, I thought you felt the issue might be engine based. You will have to start with a code scan of all modules & move forward from there. The last automatic transmission issue I had ended up with me changing the complete transmission on a Honda Fit 🤔🤔

I would think that the previous garage had also found the ECU to be faulty but found a similar way prior to make the car run, even if like me it was temporary 🤔

The engine relay 2 is for the throttle body control i think ,
Oh. And that was getting its ground from the engine ECU too. Hence the throttle body codes, interesting 👍👍

Possibly Peter, but the only thing I find is if others have failed then you are a hero if you fix it & can charge that little bit more 😊😊
So weird- they have at least some knowledge to rig up a bypass and all the work involved in doing so - but no desire to trace the fault 🤬
