They could literally still have the dynamic island animations and UI elements without actually having to cut it out. they could just have it appear out of nowhere, and it would have the same effect at least in theory. I think it would work, and it will fix the major major issue of having that stupid black pill on the screen while you’re watching video.
Exactly and tbh I feel like they could’ve given all the Dynamic Island features to the notch if they really wanted to. I see a render of the DI features implemented onto the notch and it looked good. I feel like the DI is more of a gimmick than anything, just cool to see screen going around the camera tech, more intrusive than the notch when watching content in reality.
To me the Dynamic island is a flickering bezel… LMAO
They will still need to turn the pixels off when the camera is used. Dynamic Island is here to stay.
Yes, my ideal solution would be under-display camera and sensors that allow the phone to appear to be 100% full screen with no notch or island when watching video, and software that can add a dynamic island or something similar when it is warranted and not obtrusive to the content, like we currently have. Bonus points if Apple lets you disable it altogether and just have constant full screen with no dynamic island. But we all know that Apple likes its authoritarian control over its software and hardware. Regardless, I plan on continuing my personal vandetta against Apple and the notch / island by keeping my 256gb iPhone SE 2022 for as long as humanly possible. I kept my iphone 8 for like 4 years; let's see how long I can stretch the SE for!

If being first, or being innovative is what that matters, LG wouldn't have been out of business and Chinese manufacturers would be on top of sales charts. Reliability is what that matters to 90% of consumers who aren't geeks and seriously, no one gives a flying duck about who did it first.

I think a dynamic island working is great and when off with NO blockage of the screen would be amazing!

Yeah, I’m really loving the dynamic island. This could also be not for the iPhone but for one of the other devices like a tablet or laptop.
They should try to shrink the size of the pill a little bit more so it doesn’t look as obstrusive.
They could go with an under display camera, and keep the Dynamic Island. Just have it go away if you swipe up on it or something like that.

I honestly love the dynamic island. It's a good use of hiding that notch there. But outside of Face ID, I never use the front facing camera. I'd even accept a slight bezel and then just put the camera in that.

UDC will be done the ‘Apple way’. They’ll still use the island features that they’ve got so far but it will be a little different to what we have now.

I could rather imagine Apple trying to pack the rest of the technology for Face ID under the display and then go for a classic holepunch design, as this would not impair the image quality. But we'll see. :)

Yes, absolutely I’d want this feature. Who wouldn’t want it, seriously? It doesn’t spell the end of the useful Dynamic Island; Apple can still continue with that, implementing it entirely in software. You don’t ACTUALLY have to have a hole cut through the screen for the Dynamic Island to be present, you know. And when you actually want to use the area of screen where the cut-out used to be, guess what? You’ll be able to! Golly gosh! Imagine watching a full-screen video and not having a chunk cut out of it at one side. Cool, eh?
ive been waiting for iphone UDC...i started on android and never left for 20+ years...ive been waiting for the perfect iphone that checks all the boxes.....this UDC is the last box to let me make that jump from android to apple

I think a dynamic island being on the notchless iPhone would work as you could easily hide it by swiping so the functionality will still be a thing without the pill covering the screen when unused

since you asked. at least i would rather go with the current poor under display selfie cameras, or traditional bezels over any kind of notch, hole or islands.
i mean i maybe use the selfie cam maybe once in a year if even less.
but then again i use the display daily, so any kind of defects on it would get on my way constantly.
The dynamic island will probably stay, because its usefulness. But I assume they want to make it colorful and/or disappear when not needed

What I do with my Apple Pencil is my business but damn was that accurate
I like bezelless design, however I really don't mind having a small black bar at the top and bottom of a phone like the Sony Xperias do. They have their camera, microphone and speakers all inside of the small bars and it doesn't look bad at all.

If Apple extended the camera array on the back across the phone to incorporate a small screen to see what we are shooting at, then selfie shots could be done with the main camera on the back ….. and have under screen finger id to unlock.

The hole punch I don’t mind. But the Dynamic Island actually distracts and obstructs videos. If you don’t watch RUclips, Movies or Netflix you probably won’t mind but I watch both and consume media and have a max for that reason. The people who don’t care probably only use it for texting and have a smaller iPhone and just have an iPhone to have an iPhone. The hole punch can be ignored because it’s small and not as offensive.

I have an iPad pro 11 and I love it but my issue with it is that is just a big entertainment display and really nothing else, yeah remote desktop and terminal for work but I’m better off with a laptop than an iPad, I won’t buy another unless they fix iPadOS

I still think we'll have a Dynamic Island because of the need for unobstructed views by the Face ID sensors. I still Apple should have gone the route of a small upside down "chin" on top to accommodate the front-facing camera and Face ID sensors so you have a completely "clean" touchscreen display, something they could have done as far back as 2017 with the iPhone X.
I have a 15 Pro Max 1TB, and I already cannot wait to trade it in for the 16, lol.

Samsung only uses it on the fold phones on the inner display. The outer display has a normal camera.
