The piano prelude is so wonderfully rendered. It makes me feel like asking someone I know "To sit down with me listen to the soul calming music piece as we reminisce about days past and People that we knew but are today no more". Its watershed moments like this that we must truly appreciate the gift that is life. For it is short lived. Tear drop...So if you reading this and you have a dream to do something great for you or someone else... Here's your queue to go for it.
@@marioncapriotti1514 The translation to English loses some of the meaning of this piece. The German lyrics are such a beautiful tribute and praise to our Lord and Savior.
@@marioncapriotti1514 It does, yes. Having a working knowledge of German, I find the German lyrics are such a beautiful tribute and prayer to our Lord and Savior.
I love how after the intro he swings the band into the song. So much talent in such a small space.I wouldn't mind coming back in another life as a much better musician so I could sit in with this crew.
I love John Batiste. I love how he can make playing anything on the piano look so effortless; his fingers just float across the keys. I also love the way he just exudes happiness as he plays. This is one of my favorite Bach pieces and the way John takes it from an airy, floaty-sounding piece to something with a little more spirit.
I JUST discovered that people in my social circle do not like classical music nor gospel chords. 😮 I have been completely shocked no one else is moved by this version.
JB is currently my favorite pianist in the whole wide. It’s his combination of taste and execution. Great choice of subject matter great interpretation thanks again JB!
You just KNOW, if JS Bach could time-travel to the present, he would so very much love jazz, and gospel too. Great music is great music, across centuries, time and space.
The beginning reminded me of Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood. (Some excellent music on that show!) Would love to see Jon, Mr. Rogers, and Beethoven jam. 🤔👍💯♥️🥓🎹😎
@missee doodle Talent. Yes, I'm seeing that firsthand. Kindness and compassion... He's a friend of Stephen Colbert. Stephen's got both those characteristics, so Jon's got to get them too.
Jon Batiste is a gift to the world.
It is mind blowing that Bach goes across all genres and is still an original!
This way cooler than I thought I was going to be
Johann Sebastian would approve....utterly stunning rendition.Magnificent!!!
Damn that trumpet solo was solid.
That took me too church. 🙏🏾
Once again, proving Bach's music travels across genre's and time! Remarkable!
I am obsessed with that piece and Jon Batiste does it justice. Thank you for a beautiful and still soulful rendition!

Normally when I go to a wedding 💒 I hear and like ℹ when the musicians play it! Thank you for sharing!
So jazzy and soulful!
I’m a traditionalist. But, despite that, this performance was well done and stuck to the original musical theme. I’ll still sing it in German.
Don't see why the German text wouldn't work just as well with this beautiful performance as any other language. The real language here is music!

@@bcgrittner - But wouldn't the German text work with the music just as well?

On new jerusalem later, we all musicians must be☺️

IMHO one of the most beautiful compositions in history
That Trumpet solo was one of the best.

This is magnificent! I only wish JS Bach could hear this, he would LOVE it!
im crying....the soul is too much
I just love Jon Batistes interpretation of some of my favourite classical pieces

The piano, then the sax, then that horn... incredible.
The drummer is very innovative too. I like the rhythms that the drummer infuses into this performance.

Excellent advice. 😊
JS Bach would be proud of what he´s hearing from you,Jon!
This is the first time I've heard Bach played with Soul and I love it. 😊
Absolutely amazing. 😢
I think this is maybe my favourite piece of music composed. What a beautiful interpretation!
The most famous part is Bach's countermelody the hymn is played in the sax and trumpet
What a Joy to listen to this performance. I've discovered this video few days ago and can't stop playing it.
I love all the music Jon Batiste performs! However, my favorite performances are when he's playing the piano! ❤🎼🎹🎶🙍♀️
I prefer watching his live performances rather than his recorded material. Would love to go see him play live, he has music running through his veins.
Just Beautiful!
Glorious, my eyes are leaking!
I love and appreciate Mr John Bautiste♥️♥️♥️👀
Beyond beautiful ❤❤❤❤❤❤
his hands are sooo long, bro. Wow, he was born for this thing!!!!
Waow the piano introduction !!! What a touch !
Beautiful song, gives me joy watching them all play.
And he shows his respects to Bach not only by playing his piece but by giving the piece an original prelude lasting ten seconds
Lol
You could ask Jon Baptise to play a nursery rhyme and he would make it into a masterpiece. I love musicians like this.
Had me looking for my church fan! Hallelujah!
YEAH!
Musical brilliance! Such a huge fan of Jon!
Listening Dec 2018. Congrats on the Grammy nomination for Hollywood Africans and expecting your win in Feb 2019

I didn't know Justin Bieber played the piano, I'll be sure to check it out
JB? No offense intended, but you're going to have to be a little more specific. JB as in Jon Batiste - or JB as in Johann Bach? 😸
@@TheStockwell yes!
@@TheStockwellIt could even be Johannes Brahms
Love his playing...great musician..pianist...❤

@I love 💘 you Jon!
Unlike anything i have ever heard before.
How do they do that
The ears of the CBS devil worshipers must have been burning as the sound of this Holy song glorified Messiah.
Say Heah, A Thumbs Up X's 10 to the Tenth, Great Job Jon, Rock On, Dilly, Dilly.,,.p
I definitely own more than 3,000 of those 38,000 views.
