He is 21 now. his wings are not clipped and he has free flight but he limits his freedom snuggling with me, his perch or his cage. he is potty trained so when the need arises he flies to his perch then comes back to me. Birds are very intelligent and social. As with any animal they need to be a part of the family and not caged or locked up. Being caged is the reason they scream. They also have a long lifespan so it is a commitment. Thank you for viewing.
Hi Joel He actually trained me. when I got him at 12 weeks. When he was on my shoulder he would start backing up to miss me when he went. Every time he did this I told him go on your perch and I quickly put him there and he would go. I would get excited and tell him good boy. No food just praise. I was very consistent. He then learned to fly from my shoulder to his perch on his own and has been doing this ever since, He is now 22 years old.

he's so well behaved when it comes time for the towel! haha, I have a female sun conure she's almost a year old now and I got her when the aviary place finished with the hand feeding process. she's very anxious and would probably hate me if I tried to put a towel on her like that after her baths lol; but I love her she's a spoiled little sweetheart

He likes the mist and little splashes that come off of my shoulders and tries to stick his fuzzy little head in them. Sweetheart is such a pretty boy! Does he like to bathe often?

Deez Mutts you train them with how you interact with them. If you yell, hit, cage for long periods of time, don't provide a proper diet, and don't provide adequate social interaction then they will be "mean". No bird is born mean - however, they have VERY LONG MEMORIES and don't forgive easily. How you treat your bird early on determines a lot of their personality. they can still be difficult during puberty though, much like a teenager.
Same here. I've never even owned a bird before, but when I seen him at one week old in the pet store I had been shopping at for a few years, I fell in love. I brought him home a couple days later, and had to hand feed him for a couple of weeks or so. He is my buddy, and I don't go anywhere without taking him. He is very ornery, but I am too, so it works out. But he loves to cuddle every night, when I kick back to watch a movie. I do not believe I could live without him.

My great grandmother, who has passed a few years ago, had one of these birds, his name was sunny. But, I still remember when I was 3, going to her nursing home and playing with sunny, and he LOVED to sing. He would sing twinkle twinkle little star, Mary had a little lamb, and a few other nursery rhymes. I miss that bird.
Just seeing him watch her bath prep so closely and dancing around in happy anticipation makes my heart smile. Little did I know that bird baths in folk's yards are for more than lawn decor.

I used to work in the pet industry with all kinds of birds and there all great but by far I've always loved sun conjures sweet little birds and very intelligent some even talk.
I love birds more than any other pet.. specially parrots, when I was young I purchased a pair of Australian parakeets. That's when I fell in love with parrots, my dream was always to have a sun parrot. I got married and have kids then my life changed a bit, my wife wants a fan of birds and dint like me to have them. My heart was broken I had to gave my parakeets away, fortunately a old lady came by to take them. She know alot about birds and I'm happy that my parrots are in good hands.

Seeing your little boy reminded me of the conure we had in PetSmart a few years back. She was a sweetheart and would always want to kiss your finger and want belly scratches. She was adopted to a good home but we all missed her lol.
Ours didn't at first, but they liked it when I misted them with a water bottle. (Very fine mist from above.) After a week or so the baby jumped in his water dish. Couple days later the 1year old did it!! Too funny. We got these 2 part bird baths that attach to the cages. They love them but seem to want to bathe every other day now. They like to bathe more often when they're molting.
I love this little bird. He is so majestic just chillin in the sink. His love for water makes the world a better place. This bird shall live eternally and take as many baths as desired 👏🏼
I get little cat plastic toys with a bell in them--Inexpensive unlike the bird toys, He loves it and plays a game with me by throwing it off the edge and watches me get it. LOL

I had a colorful small cockatoo patriot named Tweety bird he was my first baby. I got him at 6 months even though my sister handled him more at the time he picked me. He would call for me and he got happy when I came to him. He past way like 5 years ago a week before Christmas. He was 14 and a half years old. It hurt when he left me. When I see or hear a bird I get happy. And at the fort Worth TX zoo I went I saw some tweetys my heart skipped a beat. After him I just couldn't get another. Now I have my own human baby and another pet baby a Yorkie named Benji. I still miss my baby. And seeing this reminds me of Tweety taking his bath or shower with me. He loved it!!!

Ours didn't at first, but they liked it when I misted them with a water bottle. (Very fine mist from above.) After a week or so the baby jumped in his water dish. Couple days later the 1year old did it!! Too funny. We got these 2 part bird baths that attach to the cages. They love them but seem to want to bathe every other day now. They like to bathe more often when they're molting.

I love this little bird. He is so majestic just chillin in the sink. His love for water makes the world a better place. This bird shall live eternally and take as many baths as desired 👏🏼

My pet sun conure is named spike and he LOVES taking bath I'm trying to get him toy because he keeps playing with me and.....
I get little cat plastic toys with a bell in them--Inexpensive unlike the bird toys, He loves it and plays a game with me by throwing it off the edge and watches me get it. LOL

I had a colorful small cockatoo patriot named Tweety bird he was my first baby. I got him at 6 months even though my sister handled him more at the time he picked me. He would call for me and he got happy when I came to him. He past way like 5 years ago a week before Christmas. He was 14 and a half years old. It hurt when he left me. When I see or hear a bird I get happy. And at the fort Worth TX zoo I went I saw some tweetys my heart skipped a beat. After him I just couldn't get another. Now I have my own human baby and another pet baby a Yorkie named Benji. I still miss my baby. And seeing this reminds me of Tweety taking his bath or shower with me. He loved it!!!
