Saying someone sucks after missing M1 says a lot more about the speaker than the opponent. It's just a simple psychological coping mechanism we tend to use when in actual fact we sucked by throwing away a winning position. Bro knows this but in the heat of the moment it's hard to just suck it up.
@@Kiwi_Chess I know what you’re saying, obviously, but I guess what I’m trying to say is that it will help you out to not get emotional about your rating fluctuating in either direction. Dropping from 1900 to 1750 or below doesn’t mean you suck, and when you surpass 1900 and hit 2k or 2100, that doesn’t make you really good, it’s just normal fluctuation and getting better.
@@Kiwi_Chess That's a more accurate statement. It's also accurate to say you were playing better for most of the game but if you lose the game then by definition you didn't play better when it mattered. Includes time management. I think learning to lose at chess is a great spiritual practice. Just learning to sit with that shitty feeling but not react emotionally by thinking/saying things about our opponent (who at a similar rating level has put in just the same work you have in many cases). On the other hand the way you say "It's ok" is great. It is ok even if it may not feel like it at the time. Even if you never reach 2000. It's definitely ok. Then you always analyse the games even if you're feeling shit. I admire that. Well done keep pushing (and taking breaks with pre recorded videos when needed). Will share more of my own story soon as you've inspired me to start playing longer time control games again and my rating has shot up mostly it seems from watching your vids.
Another tough session - we're all hoping for better times for you soon. Once you get that 1800 back, then 1850 will become the new realistic target and hopefully 2000 will eventually be in sight.
I think that's not 100% accurate. In the first game, it was okay to castle but Kiwi had to find some hard-to-find moves to keep his advantage and avoid mate. I was surprised he didn't analyze that critical moment to study the best/good moves b4 and after castling. Too upset at the time, perhaps.
@@JaSoNZ16 don't castle. But I think it also makes sense to castle and analyze why castling was okay in the position with the right follow-up moves, no?
@@XlogicXX he had a feeling that castling is bad, because he knows he would be bad at defending the position. You can analyse whatever you want after the game but play the moves that are comfortable to you and easy to maneuver in a rapid game.
Hey man, I'm probably 15 years older than you-ish. For what it's worth... I believe these downswings will help you build up a lot of mental resiliance, which you will need to be successful in work, relationships, as a father (if that's your plan). It might not feel like it at the moment, but I believe this will be hugely beneficial for you in the future.
"that is the least scary knight move" - knight covers the mating square a few moves later.
LOL
“Castling seems stupid right now, but I’m a pretty stupid kind of guy” had me 😂
*proceeds to get mated* LOL
@@Kiwi_Chessjust watched that bit. “We should be comfortably running away”… *checkmate noise* “ok.” 😂
I don’t know if it’s accurate to say someone sucks really bad just because they had a worse position than you in one game
That’s pretty true, they may have just sucked this game like I sucked worse hahaha

maybe learn the taimanov scilian, you always get active pieces with lots of counterplay.
I’m digging the accelerated dragon
Castling in the first game was brave
Brave is a kind word to use lol
Nah. It was brave fr fr. I thought it was a blunder when I watched the video. But the engine said it was fine. Go figure.

Yup, it’ll be here before you know it!
At 8:55 after Na5, Qa4+, b5 traps the queen

This is part of the journey even if it sucks. Very interesting firt game tho, you and i here both understimated his attack 😅
True that my friend , all part of the journey
You should have castled in the second game, and you Shouldn’t have castled in the first game 😅
Oh well
