I know this has broken down on you,but how much did you drive with it to break the clutch, and is it a very common problem? I was thinking about this as my first car,but theres so many options in the 10 000€ car market,if this isnt as reliable as the reputation of ladas i have no reason to buy this. But i still love the simplicity of this cars engine and interior, truly a survival situitation car!
Hey, thanks for your comment :) The new Lada has a factory fault with the new master clutch cylinder. It's plastic, hence lighter pedal feel but more likely to break. We had numerous break downs ranging from 15000km to 30000km. (Mine was only at 20000km sharp) A simple solution is to revert it back to old Niva clutch system. It's metal, it's harder to press the pedal, but it's bullet proof. Also the new plastic master cylinders are discontinued. (Valeo brand) Another common problem is the camshaft position sensor failing between 5000km to 10000km (mine failed at 5000km) But nothing to worry about, it's a 5min fix and super cheap costs like 20$ Hope this helps, cheers :)
Finally a Lebanese fellow that reviewed this car in a language other than russian😂😂 thanks for the honest feedback. I wanted to ask you Micheal, other than the car's price ... what are other expenses u need to spend on this car immediately to make it more usable and rugged and reliable? Thanks in advance
Haha glad you enjoyed it. I HIGHLY recommend you get better tires first. I'm using Bfgoodrich KO2 (215/70/R16) it's one of the best all terrain tire on the market now. Secondly, get diff. lockers. Very important (Either air or mechanical) not LSD. A 4x4 is nothing without them. Thirdly, get a lift kit. 2.5" is max for these vehicles. Oh and remove those ugly plastic bumpers and replace them with steel. Trust me you WILL break them when you go offroad 😂 Cheers
Very nice review, can you please tell me how is the performance of its air condition ? is it cold or ice cold and does the air condition cools while you are idling in traffic ? how is the power steering in it is it light or heavy ? i wish you can tell us all of these things because i think you are the only one who can tell us in english, niva is popular in my country in egypt but those are old models with no creature comforts like the urban, niva is good in my city aswan south of egypt because the lack of tarmac, thanks again a lot and keep up the good work and more reviews please. Salaam.
lowlow643 thank you for your feedback. :) yes the air conditioner is very good in it. Even in traffic it is acceptable but when you accelerate it gets even stronger. It also has power steering which is very light too. If you have anymore questions let me know. You can also watch part 2 of the video :) Salam
hey bro. i was thinking of buying one for work. actually i might be using a trailer to take the race car to diff places ... so my question u recommend it ? like i said ill be using al trailer thanks !
HydraPerformance oh definitely bro!. It's a very affordable easy to fix workhorse (in case something goes wrong which won't lol) and super rugged. I'm gonna upload a video of it flexing offroad tonight.
Thank you for information. I like the classic version of this car, with alluminium bumpers, because it looks a storic 80's car. It's very cool. This new transmission is very easy to mantain.
+suhaib hey thanks for the message :) If you're not used to driving a manual specially in traffic, I recommend having another daily driver. I personally love it as a daily driver but my parents don't :p It is very easy to upgrade it yes. From HP to 4 wheel drive system to suspension etc... that's why I love it so much. I will make a video soon about how it's like to daily drive it. Cheers
maybe You mean the suzuki vitara. Anyway, I like the lada transmission because you can also use 4x4 on the road, with low range. You can't do it with the suzuki jimny. 😉
I would like to give niva to bmw engineers, they could improve niva on right level, they shouldn’t change looks of car, just functionality and quality, and niva could be best 15-25k $ car on market, it’s not impossible to make great niva, better and smarter functionality, higher level of quality, better engine with better specifications (under 8l/100km), more options and niva would be really great car.
Very good review! Whats the consumption you have in this car??? I believe that they should have modernised it internaly! And put a better engine on it! A small diesel would have been great for this car!
+MARC HACKS It's very fun and cheap to maintain. If you like 4x4s and something rugged and doesn't break your wallet, than go fo it. You get what you pay for :D
The best video i have been watched for this car from inside.
Thank you
Nice video.
As you said, it's not a perfect car, but there's something I like about it.
I'll be waiting for your driving and off road comments.
thank you :) yes I will. I'm sick at the moment will post as soon as possible.
Very nice car, I have a black Lada Urban , but the a/c fan is a little bit loud.
Everything is loud in it not just the a/c fan :P

Hi, what kind of maintenance needs the transmission?
+Rinaldo Abis Hi Rinaldo, just an oil change every 50,000km
+Rinaldo Abis same with the differentials.
Thank you for information. I like the classic version of this car, with alluminium bumpers, because it looks a storic 80's car. It's very cool. This new transmission is very easy to mantain.
+Rinaldo Abis yeah everything is very easy to maintain in it. You can add the classic aluminum bumpers to it. It's a direct fit.
It's a good idea !!! ;)

Locks the center differencial of the vehicle so that power is distributed 50% front wheels and 50% rear wheels
