I just finished binge watching all 12 years of this show, and there was no drop off in quality at any point. If anything, the show improved once David Caruso left.
This show was so much a part of my life for 12 yrs, I'm now watching reruns and it is bring back so many memories. Thanks NYPD for helping me through some tuff times in my life.
Alys Falsia I never missed an episode (the first 10 years ) and recently saw the last two. I liked season 11 but really thought there was a drop off in #12, maybe too many new faces and didn't care much for the story line. The last episode, bittersweet at best but 11 Great years is hard to match.
The season where Bobby Simone dies was maybe the greatest season for a cop show in TV history - surpassed maybe only by Season 2 of Hill Street Blues. Smits and Franz were just amazing that year.
I love it that the H& I channel runs the series from the first episode to the last. I never missed an episode of NYPD Blues or Hill Street Blues. Franz played 2 characters in Hill Street. The great shows always have one thing in comment. They let you watch the character development week to week. You almost know what the character will say in any situation. Very few shows did that back then. More shows do that now, most notably the NCIS group. Thank you H & I channel for bringing NYPD back.
I watched the show every Tuesday night at 10 for 12 years barely only missed like two episodes, I’ve watch the series on DVD probably five times now I still tear up on a lot of the scenes best damn show ever made.
just finished watching all 12 seasons on Prime..what a Great Show...one of the best I've ever had the pleasure of watching... congratulations to all that made this show possible..!!!
Ironically, about 95% of the show (except for the B-roll establishing scenes) was shot in Los Angeles, mostly at 20th Century Fox studios. But they did such a great job that you'd never know it.
What a great show. Dennis Franz is truly one great actor, who worked with a group of great actors. They all can be proud of what they did and the legacy they left behind. Thanks you guys.
So incredibly glad I watched this show from start to finish. Not only when it originally aired, but in reruns that I have DVR'd. This show is not only my favorite of all time, but nothing short of awesome!!!
AMEN ...... He also played an AWESOME part of this show .... they SHOULD have let Bobby Simone's part playout LONGER.... more seasons than they did ......
My best of NYPDB; Bobby's death. I cried like he was a family member. The acting was absolutely spellbound. I can't find it anywhere tho. Damn. When Hill Street Blues was cut and replaced with NYPDB I tho 'oh it will never be the same' and it turned out to be the best damn thing on T,V, It could have gone on forever but forever doesn't exist so damn (again).
The New England Patriots of a TV Episodic. Every time you thought they'd lost a key player, whose replacement would be far short of that standard, the replacement player stepped up and crushed it at least as well-sometimes even better.
The transition from Caruso to Smits was seamless. Smits is far better known and loved for this show than Caruso I find and was a huge asset to its success as much as Franz, McDaniels, Clapp, Lawrence etc.
I just finished watching all 12 seasons on Amazon videos 3 and 4 shows at a time and I’m thinking of starting from season 1 and watching them all again.
i was twelve when this show started, 90s were great. What i can say this police drama it had it all from cast, depiction and development of stories, a forerunner for todays shows
When I watched tv back then, only watched two shows, The X Files and NYPD Blue. This show was deeper and more spiritual than anything else and the pilot blew me away! Sure, the ladies' bare bums on show helped, at least you weren't treated like a kid. Videotaped it every week and had five seasons on video. Can't figure why they've only released up to season 4 on dvd. Stupid. Owned season 1 on dvd years ago, but traded it. Times move on I guess. Unforgettable show.
Them, cold, dark winters nights.... Rain beating against your Windows... Nice, warm & cosey at home in front of the box, after a hard day's graft... Relaxing to some familiar, 'take you away from your everyday problems', entertainment. Where are these kind of shows nowadays???
NYPD Blue, Barney Miller, Hill Street Blues, TJ Hooker,Kojak, Homicide Life on The Street, The Shield, In The Heat of The Night, New York Undercover, Starsky and Hutch, Blue Bloods and The Closer: top tier cop shows that won't ever be beaten imo.
if you have Amazon video on your tv, you can purchase all seasons of NYPD Blue. I buy one season per month, one single episode is 3 bucks but the each season is 14.99, cheaper that way...
Great show, sadly missed. The 1st season or 2 was a bit too shaky but... Why can't they make real big city, gritty stuff like this now? Used to love watching NYPD on a dark, cold, winters night. Mike Post's music fit really well. Steve Bochco, David Mulch, & Mike Post, helped get me thru the miserable '90s.
I hate to admit it because I sound like an idiot but I am on my fourth time through the entire show. My wife is on her second time through with me. The acting is just so damn good. The growth of the characters within the the stories it’s just amazing.
All time favorite!! But WHY oh WHY did they never release all of the seasons on dvd? poor sales? lack of interest? I'd pay anything to have the complete set
I can help there. Fox only released the first four seasons, because, as you say, of low sales. It was up to independent company MediumRare to release the rest, which they did. No bonus features at all, but they released them. I had them all. All twelve seasons. I sold them all in the end. I found something else. It is available tho, that's my point, if you're still interested.
I am too young to have seen the show when it was out but I recently binge-watched the 12 seasons on Hulu. You'll never see shows like this on today's programming. I must confess, however, that it got to a point where I was fast-forwarding through all of the scenes that included Medavoy.
I loved this show right from the beginning. Caruso was great. Andy was a mess. Gail Grady was beautiful. Amy Brenneman was terrific. I was bummed when Caruso left but I think the show wouldn't have lasted as long had he stayed. It opened up a lot more possibilities for the rest of the actors.
I agree with the lass but lam abloke, so l did not cry a little...if ya believe that... Peace to all peace to the bloke/woman who has done us a big favour happy Christmas y all
you can purchase the whole series, one Season at a time, it is cheaper to buy a season for 14.99 than per episode at 2.99. I am on Season 3 now. I own them. I have Roku and you can purchase it through Amazon Video channel.
Saddest day of my Adult life. OK .... Maybe only my Adult TV Watching patterns. Never the Less. Was one of the best shows EVER. From these reviews - you can see that its generally unanimous.
I watch this today on my TV, the series brought great actors and actresses to the screen for generations. to this day. This show has and always will be the BEST Cops show you will ever get to watch...Thank you to all for this great movie...
I never seen NYPD.I had two boys to during up .plus I work a lot so not to much time.for tv.but now I saw it one time.and I am hook. To every one else it is old.but to me it is all new
My father was an extremely tough and dedicated NYC detective. He always told me that NYPD Blue was the closest to reality. My favorite show ever!!!!
Thanks for that. I always wonder how realistic shows like this are. It's good to hear from someone who knows.
what a show. Ultimately a story of rising, overcoming and redemption, epitomized in Sipowicz
I just finished binge watching all 12 years of this show, and there was no drop off in quality at any point. If anything, the show improved once David Caruso left.
My favorite police show of all time! Incredible cast. Loved Dennis Franz, especially.
The GOAT of all police dramas! Character story driven development....so great!
This show was so much a part of my life for 12 yrs, I'm now watching reruns and it is bring back so many memories. Thanks NYPD for helping me through some tuff times in my life.
Hands down best Police show ever produced! There will never be anything like it again. Denis Franz the best portrayal of a cop you could ever find!
Most def
Alys Falsia I never missed an episode (the first 10 years ) and recently saw the last two. I liked season 11 but really thought there was a drop off in #12, maybe too many new faces and didn't care much for the story line. The last episode, bittersweet at best but 11 Great years is hard to match.
Hill street blues by the same creators, much better
Absolutely the best! I’ve never watched television that made the characters seem so real
The cop(linethru) policeman you wanted on "the job".
The season where Bobby Simone dies was maybe the greatest season for a cop show in TV history - surpassed maybe only by Season 2 of Hill Street Blues. Smits and Franz were just amazing that year.
Agreed I could only watch it once, way too real
You are so, so right Michael!
Loved Hill Street.
Still cry when I watch these clips. Nothing compares to NYPD Blue.
I hear you. Even though I know certain parts are coming, I still cry. When Bobby Simone died I felt like I lost a good friend.
NYPD Blue and Hill Street Blues were two of my favorite shows growing up. I miss TV like these two shows nowadays.
So do I, but I don’t miss the commercials!
NYPD, one of the best shows of all time. All the actors were great.
This was the shortest hour of the week. Always wished there was more to each episode. Great series.
The absolute, hands down best ever last episode of any show. Oh, and I DEFINITELY remember Sharon Lawrence was naked.
Never watched any other cop show.
NYPD BLUE was it!
I love it that the H& I channel runs the series from the first episode to the last. I never missed an episode of NYPD Blues or Hill Street Blues. Franz played 2 characters in Hill Street. I just rewatched the entire series on HULU.... so great to see again. It stood the test of time
Amazing that Jimmy Smits was able to have two great roles in his career. This one and also loved him on LA Law.
And don’t forget SOA! He was very good in that as well. Never seems to age.
@@fifthbusiness1678 That's right.
just finished watching all 12 seasons on Prime..what a Great Show...one of the best I've ever had the pleasure of watching... congratulations to all that made this show possible..!!!
Most AMAZING series EVER on TV !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Will NEVER be another one like this, (in my lifetime....) !!!
With each passing year, i realise just how good and how much i miss this show. Thanks to NYPD blue me and my wife just had to visit New York.
I watched every single episode as it came on. Best show ever
Henry Simmons was criminally under rated. He could get seriously scary. Awesome show.
Found myself really hating the bad guys. Was difficult to realize this is what made them great actors.
Simply the best, better than all the rest.
There is nothing else you can say.
...except when David Caruso joined the cast. He was terrible.
@@donaldr1818 , no he wasn’t ... just ask him...😝😝😝😝😝
Definitely the best cop show ever.
So incredibly glad I watched this show from start to finish. Not only when it originally aired, but in reruns that I have DVR'd. This show is not only my favorite of all time, but nothing short of awesome!!!
Still my all time fave drama..nothing compares...
ABSOLUTELY PERFECT TO HAVE BOBBY RETURN TO ELABORATE!!!!
AMEN ...... He also played an AWESOME part of this show .... they SHOULD have let Bobby Simone's part playout LONGER.... more seasons than they did ......
@@ricks.1318 I think it was because Jimmy Smits chose to leave the show.
Best Police drama ever! I really miss it. Maybe it will come back as a major motion picture.
NYPD Blue (I think) is still on Hulu.
If not there, its on Amazon Prime
Yup, it's still on in 2024.
261 episodes !!! Wow !!!! Dennis Franz is a Champ !!!!
Finally, he got his Sergeant, well done that man, the most human of all the characters on a great show
he was mint in die hard 2 as the airport security boss.
The best along with Hill Street Blues.
RIP Steven :(
This show and Third Watch are my all time Police Dramas... amazing works of art.
The New England Patriots of a TV Episodic. Every time you thought they'd lost a key player, whose replacement would be far short of that standard, the replacement player stepped up and crushed it at least as well-sometimes even better.

I enjoyed this show as much as they did......it was that good , writing and acting at it's best !
I just finished watching all 12 seasons on Amazon videos 3 and 4 shows at a time and I’m thinking of starting from season 1 and watching them all again.
Good to know it’s on Amazon, thanks!

Totally miss this show and especially to Jimmy Smits (Bobby Simone)! Please bring back the entire reruns!
There's a cable channel called H&I TV. They show four episodes every night Sun - Fri. They're on 2nd to last season now.
Anyone CAN watch ALL 12 seasons on Hulu
Love Love this police show it was the best ever made.
Loved this show
Sad news, Steven Bochco left us tonight.
One special show indeed
Best cop show ever !

Best show ever bring NYPD Blue back
Just started watching NYPD Blue from season 1!!
You won’t be disappointed. Every season gets better and pay special attention to the changes and growth in Sipowicz

By far the best police drama ever made. Realistic, gritty, intense ... And they got the "New York vibe" down perfectly!
sad!wish it was still on!
I have tears I'm my eyes.
It's now on Hulu. The complete series and Hills Street Blues.
Best show ever created and produced! "Yeah huh" became my favorite phrase!
Top 5 show of all time, no doubt.
I hate to admit it because I sound like an idiot but I am on my fourth time through the entire show. My wife is on her second time through with me. The acting is just so damn good. The growth of the characters within the the stories it’s just amazing.

My only disappointment with the series is Connie and the kids should have been at the end of that reception line.
Claude C She left the show unfortunately after having baby in real life.

Great show, a cop show!
I miss the show . I would love for them to do a reboot
Nypd and Law and Order definitely picked up where Hill Street and Miami Vice left off
Mad magazine did a hilarious parody of this show...chimp o wicz, addicted to bananas, and other stuff...lmao!

Interesting story, bill brochtrup was not actually gay but his boyfriend was.
where the hell was Gordon Clapp's cake?
There were 1 or 2 bad actors/actresses in this show!
mcsquare77 Nope!
