Just wanted to point out; there is no laugh track for Friends. The show was filmed in front of a live studio audience every week, and they would even change jokes on set if they felt they weren't getting enough reaction. so when you hear laughter in the background, that is real.
Came here to say the same thing. I think people don't generally understand that a laugh track and being filmed live in front of a studio audience mean two different things.
Mostly no laughtrack, there are exceptions.
They used laugh tracks in plot twists so that they didn't spoil the audience.
Look i get that you're trying to make it more GODLY but Friends is hated by 50% of people who hate mom jokes so of course an audience who enjoys that stuff will laugh, and they will laugh hard 💀 im enjoy some of the show so dont think im some hater
They did sometimes use laugh track if the audience was being too loud.
Friends does these kinds of episodes so well....the bottle episodes where they are just in one room the entire episode..it flows so well you don't even notice. This is one of my favourite episodes

The One Where No One Is Ready is probably in my top 10 episodes of Friends. It's like a one set play and it's just so funny! ❤ Btw Matt LeBlanc actually dislocated his shoulder during one of the jumps onto the chair! His arm will be in a sling in the next episode. 😅

I agree with you on Ross' situation. All of the friends were really disrespectful, petty and immature. I would have just left without them honestly. I understand Rachel just really tried to look good for him though and got overwhelmed 😅
While I do agree that they were being disrespectful (aside from Phoebe), I fully understand why Rachel went into passive aggressive mode, I mean, It's embarrassing enough when a parent shouts at you in front of you're friends, let alone when your partner, someone that you're supposed to be on the same level with, does it to you, especially when you're the last person to enter your friend group.

These “bottle” episodes that play out in real time within one setting are my absolute fave because all 6 not only get a moment to shine in the one episode, but the amount of talent it takes carry a 20 minute episode of really nothing but pure dialogue while keeping the funny is *chef’s kiss*
If you pay attention you will see a reserved sign on the coffee table where the friends always sit. Gunther reserves those seats for them so they always have them.

Other than Phoebe, I feel like everybody sucked in this episode. They were not being good friends at all; causing unnecessary stress for Ross on an important night
The scene with Chandler sharing with Ross is still one of the moments that actually gets genuine chuckles out of me. And the ending with a simple: "I said share, not scare"... that was top notch writing and specially acting from Mathew and David. Gosh! This show could be so good at times!

I would probably be worse than Ross, I would have left them all and went on my own. I’m sure they all knew ages before the time that they had to go and it was important to him. They were quite disrespectful in my opinion…I never found the Ross part of this episode that funny…more frustrating snd stressful at points…(I appreciate punctuality). I did however find the Monica part really good!! I used to be very similar to her when I was younger…I’ve been there!🙈
I think Rachel going commando WAS her way of apologizing for stressing him out… but yes, actually saying something should have happened

Since he had to wear a sling for a while, they incorporated the injury into the next episode. You'll see how they explain it (pretty funny).
first of all I have been living for your reactions, they are truly amazing. To be honest if I was in ross's place I would've reacted similarly, because that was a very important day for him and he wanted to get there on time but no one really cared, and although Rachel was right to be mad at him because he did throw the heels and lash out, but basically saying she wasn't gonna go was just as bad and in my opinion very petty. That episode showed me how little they cared about what ross's feelings. and im not saying their feelings aren't valid either but they act like ross's feeling shouldn't even exist.
I think it’s possible that even the writers pick favourites hey. Like if that’s how all the characters think of him then it could be writers attitude as well? Idk just a thought.
to me it showed more about the difference between Ross's and the others' characters... he's a divorced man, a father, a career man of the academia... he is on a bit of a different place than the others are at the moment in the show. always has been. it is after all a show about people in their 20s in New York living their lives, who are friends. and their immaturity was showing in the second ep. I understand them, but they were all pretty reckless with an actually impotant moment in his career... Ross is far from perfect and so are they. Ross and Rachel's relationship is not very mature in particular. so I'm not saying anyone is right or wrong, just that they were showing us their differences in this awesome ep, besides being extremely funny. that's good writing.

@@thecocoacouchI think Ross is actually kind of favorite of writers, other actors had to audition for role but Ross was written specifically for David Schwimmer in mind.
The reason whole group seems to brush off his feelings is because he is not relatable to other 6. As someone said in replies, he is at different stage of life than all others.

When Matt Leblanc jumped on the chair, he separated his shoulder. They had to stop filming. He wore a sling in the next two episodes, and they finished filming this episode three weeks later.
One of the amazing things with this episode is, it was an episode, the first, and I think the only one, where you have one location and only the main cast. with this episode does is it shows how well all of these actors work together. You don’t need different changes of scenery and different actors coming in. They are able to hold their own together. And it’s one of the best episodes. It’s a classic of the series.
Just to clarify (a lot of people misunderstand this) they aren't using a laugh track. They filmed in front of a live studio audience, so what you're hearing is just the audience. A lot of people assume shows like this insert a laugh track in order to manipulate the viewers, to "let us know that was supposed to be funny." And maybe some shows did/do use it that way. But that's not the case on Friends. In fact, a lot of the time, they had to cut the audio down because the laughter went on too long, and it disrupted the flow of the episode.
Bottle episodes-shot using only common sets and usually only with main cast-are usually done to save money on production, but they can be some of the *best* episodes 🙂

14:49 Elliott Gould and Christina Pickles (Jack and Judy Geller) are almost always used for comedy in _Friends,_ and they work really well that way-like 15:18-but I love when they have wholesome moments too.
This episode with everyone not being ready is what my actual nightmares are like. I am a ready early always. I hate being late.
Knowing my share of women, I can tell you the sharing thing is real. Some of them literally tell their girlfriends everything!! Yes, also about what happens in the bedroom
“The one where no one’s ready” is my favourite episode. And it’s the only episode where it is entirely shot in the apartment (other than the credit scene)
I love how you knew Ross was going to say Princess Leia in the gold bikini before he even said it. Definitely a memorable costume.
I think it's so clever that episode 2 is in real time rather than being set over a few days or weeks like usual and all filmed in one room and yet it's one of the best episodes.
Also, you will see they had to change the next couple of episodes because Matt LeBlanc actually dislocated his shoulder during a different take when he jumped into the chair racing to it with Matthew Perry.
That episode is so petty and i love it so much, it's chaotic and such a friends thing to do. This is what friends are like 😂

Personally I wouldn't mind my boyfriend sharing with his friends something from our sex life leaving out details. I feel like it's natural for people to discuss such things with best friends.

My boyfriend lets me know ahead of time when to get ready for when we need to be on time. The only time he truly told me to make sure to be ready was when we were going to have lunch with his family for his sister's graduation. It was a Saturday, and I made sure to have my hair done and was wearing the outfit and all I needed to do was to put on makeup and change my shoes. My boyfriend has always been someone who likes to be very punctual, at least like 5 or 10 minutes earlier. I totally understood how Ross felt, I personally don't enjoy being rushed. So, I just get ready about 6 hours earlier.
This time of year gets me real sad ....sorry I didn't comment sooner . I haven't been feeling myself but I did enjoy your reactions and comments a lot . When it comes to making plans and going anywhere on a date I like to be early.... about 10min. early . If an event is taking place I like to be fashionably late ( like 10-20min.) that way I stay later and enjoy the event . The only thing I realize I have in common with Monica is we both like to cook and when Monica is really sad about something she wears it on her sleeve ....I do that.
I really like how Rachel does the special little things that Ross likes .....that is adorable . Thank you for your reactions and I look forward to more .

Great reaction. 3x02 is probably my favorite episode of the series overall. One of the few times they did a total bottle episode -- the camera doesn't even go across the hall to the boy apartment -- and it's even in real time! The reveal of Joey in all of Chandler's clothes is one of the best sight gags ever.
Man. I never felt for Ross more. He shouldn't have yelled, but I heard ZERO apology from Rachel or everyone else for not being ready. Like seriously. This was supposed to be a big night for him and only Phoebe cared.
Fun fact, at 21:52, Matt LeBlanc (Joey) actually breaks his arm when he jumps on the chair, and they had to change the entire season of filming since he had a cast/harness on.

The first time I watched this episode i did not like it at all! I was so mad at the rest of them and so anxious for Ross but now after multiple watches I love this episode it’s so well done and extremely funny! It’s become one of my favourite episodes in fact!
Regarding oversharing... I had a partner of a LONG time share intimate info at a freakin' poker game. In our house. It's been decades and sometimes I will randomly shudder and think, "The Poker Game."

I miss my first opportunity to go to the Halloween Parade in NYC because I was going with a group and waiting for them. Went we got to it, the last float was leaving. This is why I do stuff Alone!
My family has a history of being late so now I have a traumatic need to be super early to everything. I even show up to my job an hour before my shift starts just so I know I won't be late.
Janice is a sweet woman, when she learns that Joey doesn't like her, she doesn't try to drive a wedge in between Joey and Chandler, she made a genuine effort to befriend him. This was one of the instances where Jack proves he genuinely loves Monica. Also, Rachel DID get the hair wrong, Laia's hair as Jaba's slave is long twin braids, not those "bins of fun", as people call it.

In answer to your question, yes women do share absolutely everything with their best friends. I have even got into trouble with my husband because of how much I shared with my best friends. He says that there are some things that should stay between husband and wife. I do agree with that, but I really struggle to find where the line is. I over-share A LOT! Maybe that's the autism though? I don't know. I've opened up too much in the past and I don't know I've done it until someone calls me on it. I'm really trying now though, now I know it's important to him that some things stay private. I now draw the line at bedroom stuff, like you said here. That's a very clear line to me, like the threshold of the door to the bedroom is all private beyond that point. Other situations are more difficult though, it's really hard to tell what you shouldn't say. Anyway, great video again Oscar. Big love from Manchester UK xXx

I have anxiety & love fashion, so hours, if not the day before, i know what Im wearing, what time Im putting clothes on, doing makeup & hair & being ready to leave at least half an hour before leave time (which is probably half an hour before I need to) so I'm 100% with Ross on this one
About women talking about that stuff- personally I find it very reassuring. I grew up in an abusive enviroment and I often feel that talking with my female friends about the personal side of relationships helps me to know if I'm actually okay or in a healthy place. I get that reassurance from my partner too, but there's something about talking to a long time female friend that always makes me feel the most assured
Edit: also, I just think that having an open conversation about sex is healthy and helps destigmatize things

Yeah honestly it seemed a little random when I first saw it. I understand it and she’s obviously gorgeous but I was never like WOAH like this show implies most guys are like.

During this the second episode I always agreed with Ross like everyone was very extra this episode (hilarious yes) but I would have been upset too. Yelling maybe went too far but still no one cared that Ross had to get to his event on time

As far as sharing things from the bedroom with friends, I think that with my girl friends, I know that they wouldn't share info about my partner and I with other people or use it to make fun of my partner or I or have it effect their behavior or attitude around my partner. Just as I wouldn't do that to them. I think if guys were sharing that info it might affect their behavior around a partner and be spread around their group of friends like wildfire and have all of them act differently around the partner. I know that might not be true for all guys, but it more likely than not in my mind.

I'm a big fan of the "Monicuddle." 🥰 The relationship Monica has with her father makes up for the conflicting issues she has with her mother..
I get very anxious about punctuality, and even I know not to take all your frustrations with many people out on one person and absolutely blow up, in front of company, especially not the person you most want to be there. Joey and Chandler were totally goofing off, Monica was in a whole other place, and Rachel and Phoebe were actually trying to get ready. But Ross singles out Rachel to yell at, when she wasn't even talking to him. If just overhearing her talking to someone while he's stressed causes that reaction, Ross shouldn't be in the apartment while she's getting ready, and maybe shouldn't even be dating anyone.
I would've told them exactly when I'd be leaving and been waiting at the curb, then leave at that time with whoever is ready. No hard feelings, everyone else can travel alone or stay home if it isn't that important to them. If you're anxious about punctuality, just tell everyone, leave on time by yourself, and don't make your anxiety everyone else's problem. And yeah, girls talk about everything, and I assumed guys did the same, so I don't feel any kind of way about it.
None of them care about ross if he had done what you said no one would've made it except for phoebe all of them must have known about the thing for a long time rachel could've easily picked out things to wear

On the idea of being concerned with oversharng bed/sex weird stories/ideas etc...
A friend of my aunts remembered having what she thought was a weird sex dream about the dentist she had been attending. She initially found it a bit embarrassing to tell anyone else about. Anyway as it turns out that same dentist presented himself to the police for having murdered his wife and his lover's husband 19 years ago and staging it as a double suicide. During his trial and investigations he admitted sexual assaults on numerous dental patients who were under anaesthetic. The police arrived at my aunt's friend's house to tell her she was one of the names on a list the man had given of patients he had assaulted...
...she then realised that what she thought was a weird dream probably wasn't and was probably really happening to her while under anaesthetic.
What’s so cool about this episode is it’s a bottleneck episode, the made it so they could use budget later to film in London. It’s one of the cheapest episodes because it’s based in one place but also one of the funniest.
This one is in my top 2 episodes, no question 🤣
