Your paintings always brighten my day, I love how happy you are in your mornings. I’m a beginner who is venturing into mixed media but you always bring me back into painting. I find that what ever I might learn transfers to my coloring books and other artistic ventures. I have to keep working on my stress levels. This painting is just lovely and makes me want to give it a try but above all, I enjoy how you play, just what I need today. Sara, Washington State, America.
So lovely with the salt effect! I can’t wait to try it! You are so lucky to get the rain which is needed here in dry southern California! I love the sound of it on your roof as well as the sounds of your dog sleeping on your feet and the rooster in the background! Such a lovely environment!
Милая Диана! Подснежники, петухи на заднем фоне- это такая релаксация! Спасибо за ваши чудесные ролики, такие воодушевляющие рисовать с Вами!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This is Gorgeous, Diane! As always of course but Snowdrops by Moonlight is just Inspired! What a Fabulous picture to hang on our walls!! I love the way you rebelled and wetted the whole of the paper!! You're so funny! 🤣 Thank you very much for yet another Fantastic tutorial and Chat! Love, Mel xx 🍰🌻
I love that one. Snowdrops are one of my favorite flowers. They let you know the warmth is coming and they have a heavenly scent. I used to have them growing in my rock garden of my old house. I miss them and my crocuses. I love hearing your rooster in the background and all of your animals are beautiful. It's nice they include themselves.
So glad you enjoyed that! Our two roosters were having a crowing competition that day! I’m sorry you don’t have your rock garden any more, it is a wrench to leave things behind. Thanks so much for your kind words xxx
I love to watch you create a pretty background with the varied colors and salt. You were so successful with the salt and I'm not always successful with it. It's a magical painting and very cheerful with the background and the snowdrops! Thanks Diane!
It’s true that different types of paint do react differently and it was Daniel Smith Primatek paint in that particular painting. That’s a very unusual pigmented paint, and I think that’s why it worked so well. I just have a few of their colours and I don’t use them often because they are quite moody, but you could get one tube and give it a try.
Absolutely gorgeous background Diane …. The salt effect is amazing 🤩 And just the sort of ‘simple’ flower I need to start with as I attempt to better my floral painting! Thanks Diane X
Lovely background....the salt is very effective and it makes the snowdrops pop and take centre stage, all illuminated by the light of the moon. Thank you Diane for another beautiful painting. 😊
Love this, Diane ! Thank you. Every time I start to watch one of your new videos, I say to myself….”I wonder what new tips and arty things I will learn from Diane, today”. And sure enough, as always…..the answer today has been….Lots !!!! 🎉🎉
Thanks so much Sheila, so glad you enjoyed that one! I think there’s an endless amount of things to learn, I am always learning too! Like today, I learnt how to paint something looking a bit like a Northern Lights scene. Never painted that before! Look out for it in the next little while!
We visited Welford Place, where the Great British Bake off is filmed. Open for a limited number of days for charity to see the snowdrops. Thousands of them and you walk towards a huge open wood and the ground looks like snow as the snowdrops are so thick. It is wonderful and a sight to behold. Beautiful painting
My 222th Although you paintings have your "signature" you really surprise me everytime with something unexpected. I am very impressed by this painting, Beautiful background and creating an eyepleasing environment for "creamy" and charming snowdrops. Thanks 😊wim
I love the background with the salt texture. The snow drops stand out and accentuates the beautiful background. I can’t wait to try this….. you are such an inspiration! Thank you, my art has blossomed because of your tutorials and relaxed manner.
Oh Diane.... I do love you... “I’m going to wet the paper because someone told me not to.” You go, girl!!! I’m gonna have to rewatch the next 5 minutes again cuz I can’t stop laughing! Thank you!! 🤩🤩🥳🥳
I just finished this one. Very fun and relaxing.I did have to outline my snowdrops because my background wasn’t quite dark enough. I loved using the salt, great texture👍
Interesting! Never heard of Snowdrop flowers. Always learn something from you, Diane! That background is amazing, both before and after the salt. Beautiful painting!
I just love this painting!!!!!!!! I can’t wait to try it. I REALLY like the salt, I presume you used coarse salt to get the wonderful effect! Thank you for your wonderful videos!😊
I love snowdrops….one of the first signs of spring…along with the Plum tree pick blossoms here in NZ….a lovely video Diane, one that I am inspired to give it a go….I loved the moon landscape colours vey much…enjoy your spring garden…. lots of love to your many legged home and farm ❤❤❤❤
Dear Diane, still loving all your videos 😊 so informative and really entertaining, love this . Every time I present a meal for my husband and myself I always say ' I don't know how this is going to turn out or taste '😂 similar to what you say about your paintings and i can tell you our results are very successful, wholesome and would definitely make it into a recipe book 😅 ❤
I love the night sky! I want to try these techniques. Your snowdrops are more striking against that back ground than against pale blue sky with puffy white clouds. Thank you. Clovis CA
I love the effect you got with the salt. I’ve tried salt before but haven’t been happy with it. I think I’m using too little and just need to go for it. 🧂🧂

I really love this painting, Diane. When I try to use salt to have the effect that you have just demonstrated, it doesn’t seem to work. I use the Meeden paints as well as the Kuretaki paint and use a fair amount of water….. it too much though, but it just doesn’t seem to work. Is there a certain paint that works better than those two as I really love the salt effect. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Diane, Thanks again!! Lovely painting. I'm still very much a beginner and wondered how you transfered your image from your tracing paper to your painting. (Sorry if this is an obvious answer.) Love your rooster too. Pamela (Redding California)
You can scribble with a soft pencil on the back of the tracing paper and then go over it on the right side after lying it down where you want it. I’ve got a video on it somewhere: ruclips.net/video/21zedtxT8iA/видео.htmlsi=eekjyZvK2uH6rXcA

Practice on some spare paper, the back of another painting for example. You need to make the paint reasonably thick, with a good amount of water and pigment. The type of salt has an effect too, you need to try fine and coarse grains. It needs to be allowed to dry completely naturally. Some paints react better than others. It’s trial and error really, and sometimes it doesn’t work for me either. Hope this helps x
Your paint needs to be quite wet with plenty of pigment. Some paints work better than others. These ones worked well. And I suggest you use quite coarse grain salt not the very fine stuff. Hope this helps!

I’ve never seen a snowdrop before. They are very pretty. The background is absolutely stunning
Thanks so much Amanda ❤️
Snowdrops are my favourite flowers, but in Northern Canada, hard to find. Love listening to the Rooster crowing in the background!
It's rather magical, Diane. Love it.

Love the background technique, Diane. Your painting is beautiful!
The salt effect gave this a very frosty impression. I like it. Sometime, I think I'll try it---maybe as you said on a rock wall in the background.
