    INGREDIENTS
    For Caramelized Banana Topping:
    1-½ tablespoons salted butter, melted
    2 tablespoons brown sugar
    1 small or medium banana, sliced
    For Cake
    2 tablespoons salted butter, softened
    6 tablespoons sugar
    1 egg
    ⅛ teaspoon vanilla extract
    6 tablespoons all purpose flour
    ⅛ teaspoon baking powder
    ⅛ teaspoon salt
    2 tablespoons milk
    INSTRUCTIONS
    Make Caramelized Bananas
    A) Heat the oven to 350°F (177°C).
    B) Grease a 5-inch square baking dish (or a baking dish that holds 20 - 25 ounces) with butter.
    C) In a small bowl, stir melted butter and brown sugar together.
    D) Pour the brown sugar/butter mixture over the bottom of the pan and spread out to the edges. Top with sliced bananas.
    Make the Cake
    A) In a medium-sized bowl, beat butter and sugar together with an electric mixer on medium speed until well mixed. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
    B) Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate small bowl.
    C) Add to butter/sugar mixture and mix to combine.
    D) Stir in the milk.
    E) Spread the batter evenly over the top of the bananas. Place the pan on a rimmed baking sheet and bake in the oven for 40-45 minutes or until the top is golden.
    F) Allow the cake to cool for at least 10 minutes before inverting over a plate.
    G) Slice, and enjoy!
