Hi man ! Very good you can now do some unboxing, congrats ! For the first unboxing I think you are great !!! For the next ones maybe a top camera or more light would be great too !!! Thanks for your effort to bring us more content !!! 🥂 !!! Keep doing this wonderful job, we need more quality content like these.
That's great to hear. I hope to see more of these in the future.. I'm watching this video specifically to hear your thoughts on scoping environments. Digging the hairstyle change. Glad to see new videos. Cheers!
What features are included with the standard box? What can and what can't be configured without additional licencing? I've seen the licencing prices and these are on cisco plus level :)
Great devices, and I have went crazy with the fortiwifi 3g/4g models. Have 22 of these bad boys currently being deployed. Zero issue so far and no regrets. It's like having a fortigate, fortiap, fortiswitch and fortiextender all blended together at a super nice price.
Is the 40f the natural upgrade/device to get in 2022 February for a small business (6 users). My IT guy is still recommending the 30E but it sounds like the 40f is much better. Thanks
Do you recommend deploying to a small office with 100 devices (Pc’s, tablets, phones) or less, internet is 100\100,. And I was told another port can be configured as a 2nd wan port (failover internet), is this possible? I do plan on deploying with Fortinet switch’s and APs
How about logging? I recall you recommending that if we wanted to do logging, without needing forticloud, we should get a 51E or a 61E. Do you e if there are any cloudless 40F, eg a 41F? Or is the subscription model the future.
I have a FortiWifi 40F for my home office and I love it. However, having dumb little issues with 6.4.6 like the speed status lights on the front panel won't display properly. Reverted back to 6.4.5. Anyone having issues with 6.4.6? Thanks for the great Fortinet channel. I am new to Fortinet and love your tips and insights.
Hardware switches depend on whether the device has switch fabric. Otherwise, they can only do software switches. The number of hardware switches is dependent on ports and maybe even some specifics about the box. FortiSwitch management is dependent on platform.
Hi there! I'm in my researching period, so I have many questions. But in this case, with the Fortigate 40F, will I be be able to create 2 VLANs and have SD-WAN with 2 ISPs?
Great content from you, as always! You make great content on new firmware versions also, and talk about that it should not be used in production environment before tested, for example with 7.0 that just launched, and 6.4.X that you have mentioned several times in the past. I fully support you on that, but struggle to be on top of all the versions in regards to testing them all myself. Just don't have the time to test all versions fully. In your opinion, what's the latest "safe" firmware available at the moment, that you can vouch for with your own testing? That would be a great starting point for my own testing, before actually going into production with it. On 6.2.7 at the moment, myself.
I have a 40F in my home-office, and its slow... At most we have two Mac users at once, along with other household stuff. It is very frustrating. I have two FortiAPs and nothing else. Most parts are OK but web browsing creates a noticeable delay. The first 6.4 had memory leaks and it would eventually reboot. 6.4.5 is much better, and slightly faster but still slow.
That’s lame. Sorry you are experiencing those issues. Would like to know more about the setup as I’ve been spitting these things out like fire without issue.

You have always helped me with Fortinet hardware and it's appreciated.
I've deployed a few FortiWiFi 40F and they've been rock solid. Powerful little boxes for a great price/value.
Love this type of quick review. Not too long and not too short. 👍

I have 30+ units out there in production and they are rock solid. Great option for small 3-5 person dental offices.

Hi. Great video and channel. Looking to buy either the 40F or a 60F for advanced home use, but are the 40F/60F boxes same fysical size
Thank you Mike!

Just deployed 270 of them. 5 months in. Happy!

It does not have local storage, however, does it? This seem like a pretty strong limiting factor if compared to 61F. Am I missing something?
0 model gates do not have storage.

In my job (ISP) we have installed about 90 cpes 40F (mostly used as Leased Line Router) a truly value for money box- NFWM.
Yeah, I am a big fan of them. I have clients buying them to function as high security cradle points and more for their use cases.

You can. I would prob do a 60F just do if you have a lot of vlans in the future you can do inspection across them.

If you want local storage you need a X1 model. Most are starting to use the free forticloud logging.
FortiAnalyzer is perfect for logging and its not too expensive. Highly recommend.

Sold and installed a few for OOB-access with bigger companies.
Extremely useful use case for them!
Hi Mike, can you do a video on FortiAI please? Thank you!
Maybbbeeeeee 😎
Did I get it correctly, that the amount of "Hardware Switches" is limited per device, due to the amount of real chips on the board?
Hardware switches depend on whether the device has switch fabric. Otherwise, they can only do software switches. The number of hardware switches is dependent on ports and maybe even some specifics about the box. FortiSwitch management is dependent on platform.
@@FortinetGuru Thanks for the inside !

Yes you can do that.
Of course, easily! You can create hundreds of VLANs on it.
great video as always can you please do a review of the FortiWiFi 40F-3G4G as well? :)
Thanks for the review!
Where is the simcard slot
Cellular connectivity is accomplished via a modem into the USB port.
Thank you.
