Domestic Dispute! The Swinger's Gotta Go, But What Is This Rolling Pile Of Parts Really Worth?

  • Over the last year, we've been thinning and rebalancing our vehicular fleet, and the only thing left to go is our low budget, built from leftover parts 1972 Dart Swinger.
The only question is, how much should we ask for it.
I say it's not worth jack...Kathy Bananas thinks it worth a mint...somewhere in between is it's true value, and we're gonna rely on our viewers to tell us what that number really is.

It's worth whatever someone is willing to give for it. You may think I am crazy but I would rather have that imperfect Swinger than a pristine restoration or a super clean low mileage survivor. My reasoning is that it still looks good yet it can be driven and enjoyed without stressing you out if you have to park in a parking lot where you might get door dinged. I would say that car in that condition is worth closer to the $10K in my area than it is to the $1K. Here in the rust belt you just can't find them that aren't severely rusted out underneath. The only thing that would have me even slightly concerned is the lack of oil changes. I would insist on the engine being flushed out to remove the oil sludge and to see what the oil pressure is afterwards.

Morebassman, if he doesn't grease or oil anything, doors, hood etc. Then he has never greased the ball joints, shackles or any other suspension parts in forever, it's nothing but an accident waiting to happen. The window tracks, seals, etc. are Shot, door hinges and every moving thing is needing replacement or rebuilding.
It's a liability that will take more work and money to be worth less than the investment.
That said ; Any car that is reasonably dependable, runs and drives half decent is worth $1000, there's no telling how much rust is hiding behind all the amateur mixed bondo.
My opinion is $1001 would be tops. Best thing to do with it is part it out and be happy with what you get.

It reminded me of my first car---a 1966 Dodge Dart with a slant 6. It needed 2 doors, a fender, and a truck lid which I bought in a junk yard. Then it needed an Earl Scheibe paint job which was $29.95 at that time. Your video took me back to my High School days.

Thank you uncle tony and God bless

That will also provide more money from the giveaway for you which basically means more profit from eliminating this car from the fleet.

It's a driver. It is being sold by an honest man. I would rather know what it needs, so I can factor what any future cost would be. It ain't the buying price - but the keeping price. I do not have a lot of tools to work with on cars, so I have to have an outside party work on it to keep it running. The two prices together are $8,000 ; $2800 purchase and $5200 keeping price. Just saying what I think would be the needs of this vehicle. If it was a 1971 Plymouth Satellite 2dr Hdtp., I would be bidding on it. I had one new and really liked that car, our first born came home in that car. Someone will be getting a great driver. Mopar did not many good new cars, but sure made some great old ones.
