The giant from Estonia Denis Smoldarev has now been performing in the ACA promotion arena for about six years, having had 14 fights there and being one of the most recognizable figures in the heavyweight division. And he began his fighting career in our country in 2011, signing up to compete in the M-1 Selection Heavyweight Grand Prix.
For his very impressive size, Denis has always been distinguished by his high speed and varied technique, fighting with equal success both in a standing position and on the ground. He had both the title of European champion in combat sambo and victories in international K-1 tournaments. Denis immediately won four confident victories under the banner of M-1 Global and became one of the main stars of the organization in the heavyweight division.
But in February 2014, at the M-1 Challenge 45 tournament, he first faced an opponent whose size, strength and talent were in no way inferior to his own. It was the Croatian heavyweight Ante Delija, nicknamed “Walking Trouble,” who is now the winner of the Grand Prix of the American PFL tournament, and at that time was the main heavyweight prospect in Croatia and by the age of 23 he had ten fights in the professional arena, winning nine of them, eight of them ahead of schedule.
