    Thanks for watching! I hope you find these really simple ways of explaining the very complicated spelling rules for teaching Phase 5 phonics really useful, and that they make it sooooo much easier to explain the different phonics ways of spelling the oo, ue, u-e, u sound.

    For the _u_e section, wouldn't some of the examples sound more like the letter name U? What do you think about the letter L preceding this rule as a way to have the resulting words sound like oo? Flute, Plume, Allude? Great video series BTW, I hope you'll continue!

      But it is not the same pronunciation when we say use or flute... How is it that we should say it sounds the same when it isn't?

    This is a good video - I think it could be added that words like university, uniform, unit say the long u because they have another vowel following the consonant that comes after the u (vcv). Words like undo, under say the short u sound because the next vowel is 2 consonants away (vccv).
