  • A recap of my experience at Badminton. In the words of my coach, Karen O'Connor, "experience is what you get the moment after you needed it." The year is still young. Excited for what lies ahead for Johnny and my other horses.

i think it was just a crap chute! damned if you do damned if you dont. what ticks me off is the riders who have blood on their horses multiple times, but don't get yellow carded, and continue to make excuses for why it happens. i feel like you try so hard for things and get overlooked, but those same people get scholarships etc. hang in there! you're still my idol, and you're going to prove you're the amazing horse woman you are!

Thank goodness. I was quite worried when you stopped doing vlogs. I saw some people being quite cruel on Facebook, I was hoping they didn't get to you. It's easy to be all judgy when you're not the one under pressure.
I'm happy you're back. You're my only view into the world of equestrian sports and if you stopped making vlogs, well I'd just be one sad cripple.

You're awesome. Everyone makes mistakes in every aspect of their lives, but not everyone acknowledges them or learns from them. You will come back smarter, wiser, and stronger for it. I'll be rooting for you and Johnny next year at Rolex!

Thanks for addressing the event. It is heartbreaking that the fall came at the last fence. I'm glad y'all's team was there to help take care of Johnny. I noticed when some of the other riders had falls they were on their own on the course and had to crab the reins and re-orient themselves and find a way off the track. I suspect that had you not immediately had assistance to care for Johnny that you would have done the same.
Rest up, learn from the mistake, and keep going. We'll be cheering.

All the people at home saying nasty stuff about you who have probably never rode cross country before need to understand that when you are in a situation like that everything is happening so fast ad sometimes you don't have time to think properly. No top rider is perfect and it is clear you regret what you did and have learnt from your mistake. I'm a big fan and I'm really glad both of you are ok :)

Elisa- this one just popped up in my recommendations, I’m watching it again, remembering how heartbroken I was for you when you originally posted it...also, reflecting on how many great things have happened since you first published this video... Munson, Sharpie, Wy, Eton, Lee, Johnny still snorting along dragon strong, to name just a few fan favorites (I really like Escher too, he’s another win!) Seeing this now is a reminder of how tomorrow is another day, and a testament to the consistent focus on excellence, horses first. Can’t wait to see what the next three years brings! #goelisago

I'm so glad you and Johnny are back home safe and sound, and thank you for sharing your learning experience with us, you are always a brilliant teacher and I've learned so much from your videos. Anyone criticising from the safety of their sofa has clearly never watched any of your vlogs, because if they had they would already know just how important Johnny is to you, as a very dear friend even more than as a very talented equine athlete, so they would also already know you would never deliberately put him in harms way. All of your followers can see how much you adore that horse. I can't even imagine the level of pressure an event like badminton puts a rider and horse under, us sofa watchers have no idea, so thank you for sharing it with us - the good, the sometimes bad and the sometimes ugly. Karen couldn't have said it any better, what a legend. Onwards and upwards, go Johnny go ❤️

I look forward to watching you again for though that was a less than enjoyable moment to watch I have not lost the sense you are a good person, a good Horseperson and you have one hell of a good horse with a huge heart.

On social media I saw many mean comments, which really made me sad, cause if this people knew only a small amount of what you do for horses, especially the ones noone wants is simply amazing... Everyone can make mistakes, and I totally understand that when you spend so much money, cross an ocean to compete the most prestigious event, you don't want to give up that easily, and the most important thing is that the two of you are fine and that you learned from the situation afterwards, you are one of the most amazing horse woman I know and you don't deserve any hate for what happened, I'll for sure keep supporting you here from Germany and defend you against people who know s..t

I know you're probably heard it a billion times by now, but I really do hope you're not beating yourself up too badly over what happened. :C I'm not an expert and I definitely don't know as much as I would like to about horses, but the one thing I do know is that you love your horses and you do your very best to care for them and think of them. Mistakes happen, but that's the way you grow and learn. I really hope this won't discourage you from doing more with Johnny once he's back up to speed. I love watching you two together- I wasn't into horse sports until I found you, because I used to think racing and cross country were cruel to horses. But you've shown me that when you do it the right way, you give your horse a purpose. I don't believe there is any other career that could best fit you, so please continue to do what you do! I'm very proud to be a Wallace fan

Glad to see you're back and missed you while you were gone. I started watching and subbed to your channel because of the mustangs. The eventing is a bonus and fun to watch but it's the training and prep that are more interesting to me. I look forward to seeing you get back to competing but more so to you preparing for it and the thought processes involved.
I'm not a believer in fate. I don't believe things happen for a reason. I do, however, believe that reason can be found in things that happen. We learn and grow from experiences, both good and bad. I can already see the growth in you, you don't need words of encouragement from me. Looking forward to seeing what comes next.

The first time I saw you ride, you were working with one of the Mustangs, and I was impressed. You genuinely care about the welfare of all animals you work and come into contact with. It's obvious to anyone that watches your videos, and I'm sure, anyone that comes into contact with you. Your trainer, Karen's, comment about experience was right on. Now you know. You and Johnny are both ok, which is what matters most, so keep on moving forward. Myself, and a lot of other people commenting here, know that you have already done great things, and will continue to do so.

Karen was certainly right with her comment. You can’t move forward when you’re looking back. I’ve watched your Badminton ride a few times and to me you rode a brilliant round, especially when you had to jump that huge log into the water, many made mistakes at that jump but you rode it brilliantly. Yes Johnny was tired coming up to the last fence but so we’re other horses, if he hadn’t caught a leg on the top of that jump you would have been home and dry. You are a wonderful equestrian who truly cares for your horses. Take care and stay safe. xx

Really glad you are back vlogging, I look forward to your videos every week. Sad to hear you were getting hate comments over your ride at badminton. I can understand your reasons for wanting to finish that cross country phase, even though Johnny was tired. When you are up there in the moment things can become a little blurry as to when it is too much. People really shouldn't judge, you always try to do what's best for your horses.

everyone makes mistakes but if you don't learn from them you don't get better :) its not just pushing your horse too hard that that quote applies to, even when you DONT push your horse when they can handle it but your not sure if they can because your still learning the horse and the whole competing in this sport :) like I should have pushed my horse at the first show we did but I didn't know if he was going to act like a hyper child again or if he was going to act right, well he acted right and when I was walking out of the arena I though, GOOBER YOU COULD HAVE WENT FASTER THAN THAT, YOU KNOW HOW TO JUMP!!! lol I will always follow you because you seem more down to Earth and we live in the same state! :)

WOW, yeah...it's taken ME 3 weeks to get over that fall(new fan, here)!! Congrats on your otherwise FANTASTIC ride, immaculate preparation, and consistently super horsemanship! Frankly, my impression(I'm an ex polo, jumper, cutting, etc rider) was that it was primarily destraction and secondarily Johnny's habit of being insulted/confused at the small or simple stuff(gotta remember, these track-bred TBs are bred to WIN. period.). SRSLY!! The way he got so HAPPY whenever he flew across anything gnarly and was LOOKING/BEGGING for more! It breaks my heart that you second-guess ANY portion of that ride!
In consolation, there must be some special/secret club of folks that took it at the last fence....it IS F-ing Budmittton, yea? What was that blokes name (became a damn good writer!) who lost the Grand National on one of the Queen's horses when it took that imaginary fence and ended up in the splits right in front of the stands? Aye, the horse biz......just remember, it CAN always get worse!

Johnny got very tired on the Badminton cross country course. He had basically no energy left at the last fence and stumbled over it very awkwardly which caused Elisa to fall off. She was under alot of criticism for it, and rude people
on the internet were really beating her up about it.

Here is something I want to point out. ALL riders make this mistake! We sometimes push our horses too much, it happens. But if doesn't mean we can beat down Elisa for a mistake she did. We don't pay attention to the riders who did the same thing and made the same mistake. An equestrian is to care about your horse, you idiots that commented on Elisa "Pushing her horse too much!". Yes she did push her horse a little to much, but it happens! Life carries on. We all make mistakes and fall on jumps or when our horses buck. Who cares?!
