- Threw this together for myself because I prefer the Japanese audio, figured I'd share it since other people probably prefer it as well. The subtitles are just transcribed directly from the dubbed trailer.

I'm a 6'2" firefighter. I'm 39 years old and this brought tears to my eyes. I can't fathom that decades ago my father and I were sneaking around at 1 AM to play the first Zelda and A Link to the Past because we just couldn't put the controller down. This series taught me that magic will always be real in our hearts. What a time to be alive. Thank you Nintendo.
❤❤❤
I'm a 6 ft 39 year old therapist and I feel the same way.
Have fun, also tears of the kingdom
Hm I'm just a 5'6" warehouse worker but yeah man, I still have my gold cart NES Zelda I got 35 years ago. It's the first thing I can ever remember getting as a birthday gift. I learned the locations of every hidden heart and the magic sword from a plumber working in the basement who saw the Nintendo and decided it was break time, haha. At the rate Nintendo develops Zelda these days we may not live to see a handful more, we gotta cherish every minute. We're just a few hours away now!
Man... This voice acting goodness...
wow you work fast. I much prefer the japanese voice performances, but alas I know not the language... Thanks for the subtitles!
then you should know Matt Mercer is Voicing Ganondorf oh it's true he even confirmed it himself, also i hope that is Takashi Nagasako as Ganondorf cause i would definitely listen to This if so in Japanese with Eng Subs of course lol
I felt like Ganon's scream and ESPECIALLY Zelda's lines, especially the title ones, REALLY were much better VA'd than the US's! I WISH we could have English subs with Japanese audio as an option! Hopefully they'll include it as an option this time since so many people preferred it last time! X'D
Nintendo's been including it in games like Fire Emblem, Xenoblade, and Age of Calamity so I think the odds are pretty good.
@@Hammer9029 Whoa, whoa, wait, what? Really? I had no idea! That's awesome! I didn't know AOC had that option, too! I've been playing it wrong! X'D Thanks so much for the info! That's great! Hope you're right about TOTK, too, 'cause I MUCH prefer the Japanese voices! lol.
@@7Write4This9Heart7 there's an option in BOTW too! you can change the language for all audio. the subtitles, however, depend on the language you've set your switch too. like I've played BOTW with Japanese audio and english subs. it's awesome
@@rashad.rchowdhury Wait, SERIOUSLY?! I had no idea! That's awesome to hear since I have my Switch language set to English already! Thank you so much!
@@7Write4This9Heart7 They are dubtitles though (like in this video), so it's not quite accurate to the Japanese dialogue and the subtitles aren't synced to the audio.
No offence to Matt but the Japanese voice of Ganon is sooo much more badass!
Because it's Ganondorf original voice actor in ocarina of time, windwaker, melee & brawl
@@i.n.o6425 I've seen a lot of people saying this. I can't seem to find him on social media nor the credits to the trailer. Where are people finding this information? I'm dying to know lol
Tears of the Kingdom?! More like tears of my eyes 😭 Just saw the English version as an ad on Instagram and absolutely KNEW the VA would be better in Japanese, so glad I was right! This is so beautiful, both versions make me cry tbh 😂😭
Original is literally always better.
whatever that cure-like thing is that grabs links arm reminds me a lot of ashitaka in princess mononoke
Yup. As a fan of anime, I’m playing this game in Japanese.
It makes it 1000x better I’ve played botw in Japanese exclusively the voice acting is 1000x better and just feels more natural
@@charleshunter7361 like in... every japanese game actually. Thank goodness almost all games have japanese dub nowadays
As somebody who doesn't even watch anime, I'm playing in Japanese. Those are A-1 VAs! Incredible performances.
Japanese voice actors are hands down the greatest in the industry. No one else comes close, they’ve narrowed it down to an art form
I agree with all the smart people who replied
At 2:26
The distorted voice
"The future and our battle for you"
After finally being able to understand. This trailer hits hard
Thank you for the subs!! I don’t get why Nintendo doesn’t think there’s an audience for this.
The subtitles aren't an actual translation of the audio. They're just the English localization used in the dub. They're not one-to-one...
@@noneofyourbusiness3096 do you know where to find the actual trtanslation bro?
@@noneofyourbusiness3096 thank you very much 👌👌👌 appreciate it
@@noneofyourbusiness3096 thanks mate 😊
@@noneofyourbusiness3096 Localization is "'actual translation" my guy. I never claimed to have translated it, I just transcribed the dub as I said in the description.
You posted a more "literal" translation that is basically the exact same thing. I'm all for accuracy in translation, but there's a balance to be found between a completely literal translation and also making it sound natural in the language you're translating to.
I do appreciate seeing the literal Japanese here though, since it seems Nintendo's localization is pretty spot on for this trailer at least.
Why does Ganondorf's voice sound sooo good!! I love both the English dub and Japanese dub for Ganondorf. Matt Mercer did a great job in showing the more cunning and calculated side of Ganondorf while this voice actor shows how intimidating he is! Btw, does anyone have a clue as to who Ganondorf's voice actor?
That would be Hironori Miyata who has voiced Ganondorf in The Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, and now Tears of the Kingdom.
Kenta Miyake, he voiced Scar in Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood.
@@EchoesN64 did you mean the guy who's real name is actually ...breathe in... Thank you for making this
Ganon's EN voice is pretty good, but with the JP version, I could just feel that "rawness" in his voice that speaks a lot about his character, and then there's that maniacal scream! I also prefer Zelda's JP voice a lot more, she sounds really cute but still retaining that regality.
To each their own and if some people prefer English dub for Zelda it's fine, but personally I've always felt Japanese dub fits her much better, it's not even that high pitched as many say and 18+ girls with that kinda voice exist, u know. I'm 25 myself and I have a similar tone to her Japanese voice, also your voice doesn't change past puberty so no matter how many experiences you have, I promise you your voice won't change, for people that say that this voice sound so "pure and innocent" considering Zelda's experiences.
thanks for the work.
Thanks, all the better!
I am here for my daily viewing
That voice for Ganon sounds extremely familiar. Can’t put my finger on it.
Fumihiko Tachiki? Probably?
Lol definitely not him. The yell sounds a lot like Inada Tetsu but I'm not 100% sure (there's no official confirmation yet)
@elPinguino Takashi Nagasako. I don't think it's him tho
No, it’s not - and aside from the TP tingle actor, he has different voice actors for Smash games and for Hyrule Warriors. Another good guess is Demise’s VA from Skyward Sword, but they haven’t announced anything on their jp site yet so unfortunately we’ll just have to wait. I’ve seen Inada Tetsu mentioned (Komamura in Bleach, Endeavor in MHA) because the specific cadence of their yelling IS very similar but I’m not prepared to say Ganondorf’s speaking voice here sounds 100% like him, haha
@@Mari_Izu it is him
@@i.n.o6425 Can you list a source?
I'm honestly surprised by a lot of the comments about how deep Zelda's voice in English is. Like... have you guys never met a 17/18 year old girl before? They aren't pre-pubescent...
It's fine if you like the Japanese VA better, but let's not sit here and act like the English VA is horrible just because she has a voice that is realistic for an English-speaking girl of Zelda's age. My voice is deeper than hers, and has been since I was like 15.
Personally I do not mind the deep voice, I just don't like how it sounds in english, the first time I watched a random video of BOTW I thought Zelda's voice was a joke or sum until I found out it was the actual official voice in game, the tone and the way the VA portrays her doesn't fit her character at all imo, so thats why I prefer japanese. I'm not the kinda person that always think original is better, but in this case it is.
It's more the English accent if anything. She sounds fine for a girl her age but the deeper voice with the accent choice brings out complaints when there shouldn't be.
Any word on who is voicing Ganondorf? I can't tell if it's his Oot/WW/Ultimate voice since he no longer has a low pitch filter to his voice.
It go down much smoother this time in Japanese😂
Thank you!! Can't stand EN dubs
Lol yeaa me too
i swear this ganon sounds a bit like Endeavour from Hero academia
Here ganondorf scream sounds more sad than angry . I wonder if this has got to do with the tears
Rinkuuuu~~~
2:08 WHAT DID SHE SAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
So is this the end of the legend of zelda what could they possibly come up with next.
Id love to come back to this comment and be like they made soo many more.
All i had to hear was Ganons voice to know im playing this game in japanese
🔥❤😢❤🔥
Both english and japanese voice actor are great my only doubt about the English version is Zelda's Voice i just hate it
Hmm. I'm an active anime watcher, and avoid dubs when I can, but as a whole I think I actually prefer the English voices based on this trailer. Definitely prefer the Japanese version of Ganondorf though.
Overall I think the English dub is pretty good in this trailer too, but just like in BotW, I don't care for Zelda's voice. It sounds like she's always speaking in falsetto. And if Zelda has as much voice acting as she did in BotW, then I'll be using the original voices again.
@@Hammer9029 In BotW, I first completed the game (absolutely everything except getting every korok seed) with English voices, then redid and completed everything all over again with Japanese voices on Master Mode once that came out. 😛
I'm definitely gonna play in English first as I noticed some growth in Zelda's VA. I think she's worked hard on improving her performance, and I'm excited to see just how much she's grown.
I also like the direction she took with some of the lines in the English. Her urgency in "you MUST find me..." doesn't seem as strong in the Japanese VA's take.
Zelda sounds way better in Japanese. Unfortunately I cannot enjoy the English dub, I've tried but just doesn't work, this just has way more emotion to it!
Jeez I thought the English dub was good, of course japanese is better but I thought English was a vast improvement over botw’s dub
Here is an srt file for more subtitles that are more accurate to the Japanese audio (edit: slight doubling mistake):

"Mr. Link"
"the Master Sword you once referred to"
lmao what?
@@Hammer9029 He calls Link "Link-dono", "Mr Link" sounds fine to me, None of your Business translated it to "Sir Link".
"Dono / tono
Tono (殿 との), pronounced -dono (どの) when attached to a name, roughly means "lord" or "master". It does not equate noble status. Rather it is a term akin to "milord" or French "monseigneur" or Portuguese/Spanish/Italian "don", and lies below -sama in level of respect. This title is not commonly used in daily conversation, but it is still used in some types of written business correspondence, as well as on certificates and awards, and in written correspondence in tea ceremonies. It is also used to indicate that the person referred to has the same (high) rank as the referrer, yet commands respect from the speaker."
@@hexcodeff6624 Yeah I know what "dono" means. "Sir Link" fits much better since "sir" is the English honorific most associated with knights.
Telling that you didn't address the second nonsensical line. I often use fansubs and read manga scanlations, but the translation for this trailer actually seems to be completely fine.
@@Hammer9029 Yeah, you owned me on this one.
It's fine, but there is some minor stuff that should be changed, like them adressing each other by name in the audio, but not in the dubtitles.
I didn't address it because It's not my translation and I can't personally vouch for it since I don't speak Japanese.
I, unlike probably everyone here, actually prefer the English version and I watch my anime subbed
2:25 - 2:32 The voice still seem to say "the future is our battle" in english even with the japanese dub,how interesting...then again, might be a different madeup language altogether.
Came here after the horrendously cringe American English version. Thank god the Japanese still know how to do proper voice acting.
It's Japanese game, so it's only natural that original voice acting done by original directors and performed by people that are living in source culture will always be infinitely better than any dub.
Zelda is wayyyyy better. Ganon on the other hand I prefer the English scream. Japanese feels a bit overacted maybe
Zelda sounds so old in eng dub, Jp VA is so much better
