Full Blog Post: coachhelder.co... Coach Helder reviews the SOG Pillar knife and explains why this may be the fixed blade that you have been looking for.
Just ordered one of these. Sog has never caught my eye in the past until I held this knife in my hand. I was looking for a good quality stainless field knife that was light and fast in the hand and this thing just blew me away! Rock on thanks for the great vid!
Thanks for the feedback, Ranger Jon; Much Appreciated! It's certainly an awesome knife. Have a great new year and thanks for taking the time to comment. -Hg
For a long time now I have been on this quest for that one perfect knife that just hits all of the marks with me and let me tell you, this Pillar does it BIG TIME. This knife is simply amazing with both it's fit and finish and is very comfortable. For a great "Field Knife" or "Get Home Bag", this knife will do outstanding.
The latest batch of SOG Pillar (satin) I got in Jan 2021 is all stone washed finish on the blade. I told SOG I personally like either both this new version or older version finish. I told them all stone washed finished will bend in better with scratches and they also replied that is also their main reason for this change.
Nice review. Every review does not have to be 19 mins and a field test. Sometimes we just want to look a basics. Alright, good steel--edge retention and corrosion resistance. I have a SOG Banner with S35VN, and the blade cuts very well. I love the overall blade and handle design. 5" is a very good length for me. The handle has both a finger guard (quillon) and additional finger groove making for a sure grip. I can only judge by looking and the reviews I have watched, so I'm not positive until I hold it. The choil will help in sharpening. My limited experience with S35VN is that it takes a bit to sharpen, but not nearly as much as M390 or S90V. The sheath looks real nice with the Kydex Tek Lok.
It fluctuates, Herb. It's been a while since I did this review. Take a look at my blog post, linked in the description and pinned here in the comments. I have links to updated pricing in there. It's a badass blade! -Hg
My SOG USA made banner is an excellent EDC. Opens as quick as a switchblade, has CPM S35VN steel blade, and a functional handle with both a finger guard and jimping on rear of blade.
Not much of review. Just saying pretty much what SOG would want you to say. If you want to do a real review, then run the knife through it’s paces: edge retention, batoning wood, tip strength test, etc. This “review” is nothing more than useless propaganda. Anyone can SAY something is great, but unless you can PROVE IT, it’s rubbish.

Hows it for food prep?
Can u mount molle locks on the sheath? 3or5 inch?
You will have to play around with the angle, depending on your preference, but they should work.

How much ? $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Known for their quality? Definitely not their folders!
Hello Sean, I don't have much experience with the SOG folders. But the Made in the USA fixed blades, are definitely good to go.

Shadow X yep u said it
The grip. The grip seems too small, narrow. I know its d2 or 3 steel but a dark finish would be better. Too shinny.
They have an FDE finish now. I just got one.
