- This is a comparison of two of our favorite microphones in the whole world. The Chandler Limited Type L Mic - chandlerlimited.com/tg-microp...
Heiserman Audio Type 19 Mic - heisermanaudio.com/products/t...
Clay briefly goes through some instruments and vocals at the end of the video with each mic recording the entire song on its own.

i stayed till the end. those mics sound awesome. and the instruments too ! looking forward to the upcoming content u mentioned.
daaaaaaamn it looks so nice in there !
The Heiserman on those drums sounds amazing! Although, I’d pick the Chandler for acoustic guitar
Love your videos mate, keep them coming.
I really appreciate your videos, methods, and POV. I am even happier to see you up and running again! Cheers!
Well, since you asked, here's an idea for a video... Different ways to capture stereo room ambience... ribbons vs condenser, XY vs spaced, try it with different instruments... up to you how to do it. Just a thought. Great to see you back in the ol' RUclips feed. ;P
That's an idea! If i can get my video production to a place where it is somewhat streamlined, i will do more experimental content where we try things on the go like room mic movement.
Great video man! So glad you are back making these great videos.
Well for me the Chandler just killed it ! Except on the vocal, which sounded good on both, but the Heiserman did have some interesting extra character. Of course there is a difference in output levels, so really the Chandler needed turning up a bit now and then to match the heiserman's volume, but it had a tighter, crisper sound that was more focused and not so colored. If I had to choose one, it would be the Chandler. Cheers Clay !
Thanks for watching ! prefer the Heiserman on vocals in this scenario. The Chandler definitely has a crisper eq going on whereas the Heiserman more natural. Kind of the best of both worlds !
Love hearing about new mics, thanks!
Chandler for me! Really brought out the upper mids/highs.
Is brighter always better is the question? But yes that’s why I made this 😬 thanks for your input !
@@BoulevardRecording Brighter isn't always better of course, but the Chandler produced a brighter sound without sounding brittle, and had a sweetness that helps it not seem fatiguing to listen to. It's actually very Neuman like - transparent, but sweet :)
Always love what you've got to show us. I watch it all and often multiple times. Both mics are great. Most of the times there was no better one. Awesome tones in Now And Then.
Sweetness!
Love Manny’s videos too. Both expert-textperts! :)
Keep it up Clay, much appreciated!
H19 sounded more intimate & full bodied on vocal
Sounds great. Really liked the Chandler!
Thanks so much !!
A great review. The Chandler TG has been on my list since I used it through the acustica audio lava plugin on my last track.
Good video. I like your singing too
Your voice sounds beautiful!
Both mics are sweet
They are !
Hey friend, thank you for sharing a bit of these mics, not that easy to find sound examples of them online.
I’m looking for a workhorse mic with a very natural and realistic open sound, without the common cheap mic harshness and sibilance, for recording various types of acoustic instruments. Which of these do you think could fit that better? Any other mic recommendation also welcomed. I was heavily considering the type 19 from what I read about it, but here in the video it seemed to indeed have a natural tone/texture, but frequency wise a bit rolled of in the highs, or emphasized in the mids. Don’t know if the contrast with the Chandler is giving this impression and if the Chandler that has emphasized presence, but in this example it did seem the tracks works together nicely on the type L maybe with less need of eq to be recorded ready.
So what are your impressions using them yourself? Which one is more true to the source or has more resolution in its pickup of realistic details, sense of depth, etc? I’m sure both are great tough and would like to own both eventually.
a big positive surprise that Heiserman! great job, thanx for the video! I‘d be interested in more affordable KK47 style mics in comparison to each other. How does the JZ V47 perform, e.g.? Or Soundelux E47? You show mics with very pleasing musical examples, not that standard YT stuff, that very often doesn’t fit the mics character at all.
Well done. The Chandler was neutral. I enjoyed the Heiserman on the electric. It’s hard to comment on the mixes because the electric guitar dominated the composition. I realize it’s not an either/or thing, just curious. Liking the fact you have short videos.
I like your new microphones and I like your new glasses!
Haha thanks!
haha I was looking for a comment on the glasses, I need a pair!
