For me, Lara Fabian, is not only the best French and European singer, but she is one of the best female voices in the world. I discovered her by chance, and I haven't stopped listening to her songs since that day ... her voice is impressive.

she was signed by a US co in late 80's cut an album it didnt sell well because she is not a pop singer also she was at a level far above anyone in the states Co stonewalled her better than WH MC CD at that time. Sad how US record companies push away many of the most talented to push their mostly good and a few great voices on the sheep

So happy you're doing more Lara, great analysis! She calls herself a "songwriter with a voice", so you were on the mark with that. This song is based on the classical piece Adagio in G minor, published in 1958 by Remo Giazotto, based on a scrap of music by Tomaso Albinoni . It's a love song to songwriting, begging the powers of inspiration to not abandon her. It's even more powerful when you listen with that in mind, you hear her very soul. There's just no one else who does to me what Lara does, even in languages I don't understand. You have to do Je Suis Malade (same concert) next, it's the greatest performance of any song I've ever seen!

Elizabeth White you are absolutely right! Lara is really a great singer.
Btw, she created lyrics for this in English, because the tenor José Carreras, who was very, very popular in Europe at the time, was the first singer to sing this piece in a crossover album of 1996. The lyrics were in Italian then and it is also a terrific version. That gave proof it could be sung in the first place. I’m so glad that Lara wrote those lyrics and rendered it with so much passion! Indeed Jose’s album which contained the song is itself entitled Passion! 😁

Love, love the fabulous beautiful talented singer/ songwriter Lara Fabian that I fell in love with the very first time I heard her sing Adagio. I love her more after I heard about her warmth and praised Dinash's version of Adagio in The Singer 2017 singing competition. And now she wrote the lyrics of Dimash new song Your Love.

I love her videos in USA, when Sony music was promoting her there, the hosters on tv programs got so impressed, they literally said "why did american choose Celine instead this perfect artist? One of them said "Lara is something like Andrea Bocelli and Barbra Streisand 's daughter. " Lol.
Sony dropped her sadly because her albums didnt sell well as usual the US wasnt ready to hear a better voice than WH MC or CD

There's something about her voice that makes my ears ring a little. It feels as if the voice just completely covers my ear. It feels just so warm. Only a few singers have given me this feeling.

Great reaction. I just discovered her about 6 months ago. I'm not usually one to fangirl, but her performance of Je Suis Malade from the same concert was literally jaw-dropping for me. And down the rabbit hole I went. She has INCREDIBLE technique. Every single one of the hundred choices she makes in every phrase is stellar. But the thing that impresses me the most is that she gives everything in service of the song - not just to "show off" her instrument. Add the fact that she writes/co-writes most of her songs, sings competently in a dozen languages, speaks four fluently . . .well! I hope you'll consider doing more reaction vids to her performances. I enjoyed it and learned a lot from your comments.

I really appreciate your comments. I agree completely with what you said about her not showing off. She writes and sings the most amazing and complex melodies without ever showing off. I first heard Je Suis Malade during the 2018 Olympics when a pair of Canadian skaters used it, the announcer said they called Lara "their soul on the ice". I was as captivated by the song as I was the skaters and grabbed my phone to find it, and as you said, went down the greatest rabbit hole ever! Sidney Richter - she is amazing! However, I have to say that her lyrics fall short in “Your Love.” Not one of her best. Her best English lyrics are indeed for Adagio.

Well described! Yes she puts all the elements together and I think It's because she really wants to communicate with her audience, it's not like look at me how good I am, which is a self fixated attitude that too many singers have.
Lara more invite you and share what she wants to say. Nothing you can really be teached. You need to have the guts and ability to reach out to people and don't care about what they think about how you look when you sing and so on. Lara is never afraid to use her face to express emotions, even if it might distort some of her beauty. That is something some singers are afraid of.

How about that resonant closed vowel "beeeeeeelieve"🙂? Twice. My favorite part. She pays a lot of attention to vowel placement. I watched a video of her making a song and it looks painful😂she thinks about absolutly everything. Also, as someone else wrote, this song is about powers of inspiration to not abondon her because she was going through difficult time personaly.

she is so freaking amazing, I can't ever figure out where she breathes, and I don't think of it as brassiness but her voice has a rock edge with the chest power and then the mixing and head voice, sustained notes, her tone is very warm and she keeps her larynx very relaxed I would think
