She is the Top Female vocaliste in the world, major star in Europe, speaks fluently 4 languages, (Italian, French, English, Spanish) also Russian and Portugese. More than 30millions album sold world wide and almost unknown in the USA, i will let others explain her story, she is now 53 yo and just finished a world Tour in 2022. You now have the Lara-virus, no vaccin, no medication, she sings from her soul to yours....

Adagio instrumental dates back to as early as 1685, over the centuries it has taken new forms. Mainly being rewritten in different keys. Lara is the first person to put words to the song. She was approached to write lyrics to this Italian gem that has been handed down. Where were we “Americans” while Lara was living on the EuroPop Rock Charts? Lara took Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You” with Whitney Houston’s version: Taking the Saxophone out, inserting an electric guitar, and out popped a EuroPop Rock hit!! There is a Chinese singing competition that features established artist & credit went out to Dolly, whom they pay every time someone sings her song. I found that rather interesting. ❤️✌🏼from, Timothy in Tallahassee, Florida 😎🌴

Adagio is an italian word, that means "Slowly".
This is also used in music to define the pace of a music (a bit slow, between lento and andante) and also as a name of a piece of a sonate, concerto or symphony that is using that specific parce.
The music from this song of Lara Fabian is a pop translation of an italian classic piece called "Albinoni's Adagio". It was written in 1958 by Remo Giazotto who was an admirer of Albinoni, a musician from the 17th/18th century. He claimed it was from him and give his music this name but there is consensus today that he most probably has composed it himself.
The classic music piece is globally famous and there were many different translations into different songs, with different music composition and different lyrics (Daniele Licari, Sarah Brightman and Sissel Kyrkjebo for instance).
But the most famous version, by far, is Lara’s version: it was translated into a pop song for her, she wrote lyrics in english and italian for it and is the original performer of this new version.
She kept the title Adagio and wrote a story with a double meaning: a woman that is awaiting to find her love / an artist that is awaiting the god of inspiration.
This song has become a classic and has been covered by many : Shirley Bassey (!!), Dimash (Lara is his absolute idol and he covered several of her songs), Floor Jansen, Polina Gagarina, Julie Anne San Jose, Giulia Falcone, Laura Bretan, Il Divo, Rimar, Vitas, Anastasia Luna, Evgenia Fanfara, , …
They made great covers but none of these match the amazing storytelling performance of Lara, or her ability to use vocal subtleties to be in sync with the music, exposed in her live from the concert From Lara with Love.
    ruclips.net/video/bqoS-KOLV_4/видео.html
Her italian version is also amazing. A famous italian version:
    ruclips.net/video/qf7xcMN-TYI/видео.html
Or you can check her recent excellent rendition in Paris early october 2022

      Wrong, see my other comment.
Composed by Remo Giazotto in 1958 who pretended it was from Albinoni, a baroque music from the end of 18th century indeed.
But it is now accepted by all experts that Remo composed it himself entirely.
So this from the 20th century.
Many translation into songs have been made with different lyrics, most in the opera genre.
This is the best and most successful translation into a pop song.
Lara has co-written lyrics for this pop english version and entirely written the lyrics for the pop italian version.
It became a classic and was covered by many.

Jackie Evancho? She is a fan of Lara. Lara rewrote Broken Vow for her as a french song called Imaginer (per request of Jackie’s parents). Jackie also covered Je t’aime. And also Caruso, the song from Lucio Dalla, because Lara covered it beforehand.

Correction: way more impressive vocal range, technically different approach but not superior. The flexibility in the changing of vocal tones and colors in Lara’s version, her ability to smoothly build the song in sync with the music is better in her version. Dimash does a few things better in his version as I said and then it depends on your taste.
I largely prefer her version for instance but I do understand it could be the opposite for you.
But you can’t say he is technically better than her.
He masters technical things she doesn’t but the reverse is also true.
