I just wanted to add some info on the newest of those armour's, the Allarus Pattern used by the Adeptus Custodes. As if they weren't sexy enough just judging by looks, the fluff says that it's a *NEW* version of Tactical Dreadnaught Armor, as opposed to all other versions which range from old to ancient, the product of 10.000 years of research and development! So, it's new and improved... how improved, you ask? Well, according to the lore it offers greater protection than the typical Indomitus pattern, but not as much as the Cataphractii, Gorgon or Aquilon patterns. No, the improved protection isn't the selling point here... it's that the Allarus pattern has *NONE* of the downsides of all other Terminator armour, *offering FULL freedom of movement* just like a regular Power Armor/Black Carapace combo! And of course with the full range of all kinds of WTFBOOM armaments that *Big E's* Golden Boys have access to. *GULP* Now let that sink in for a minute and, regardless of what you are, be it Heretic, Mutant, Xeno or Daemon... pray to the Emperor that you *never* have to face Golden Banana Allarus Terminators in combat, because those guys will teach anything that's smaller than a Baneblade the meaning of "expanded anal circumference"...
Axel Milan let’s be honest it sounds invulnerable but 90% of enemy’s can deal with them in the 40k universe most the books have them dieing basicly they use them like warf in next gen and have them get there shit kicked in
Terminator armor is easily one of my favorite wargear available to the astartes in all of 40k, its just so menacing looking and the lore that its usually veterans who wear them just make it that much more interesting.
I never saw what was so cool about Terminator Armor until I played Dawn of War 2 and got a set. I started plopping it around on various people to see what it would do. Then I put it on TARKUS......... And uhhh..... Yeah, their combat effectiveness went up by around eleventy zillion percent.

People have begun theorizing that Angel Face might make a return via warp resurrection. It’s part of the whole ‘if you believe it, it exists in the warp’ thing along with the Sanguinor probably being part of his manifestation as a warp entity. The ‘Emperor’s shard myth’ has always sounded reasonable to me. While you couldn’t produce an entire “shard” per armor, you could easily do millions of little metal flakes from what was likely half a ton of armor. There has not been millions of suits of terminator armor, I don’t believe there’s even a hundred thousand of them left. The word ‘shard’ is likely just a poor word choice. On the point of ‘scaled’ power armor, it is far more likely that variants have existed and only been used for VIP’s (due to the rarity and responsibility required for wielding such relics). The reason is that you can’t scale technology up or down easily is that weight/tolerances of the material (density/mass) and user strength (human/astartes) vary wildly. The servo sizes in themselves would also be a likely unresolvable issue and while 40k doesn’t always have to be perfectly logical, this is a bit of an absurd assumption. This also explains why Astra Militarum officers don’t use power armor, for if you could just scale it down and craft copies, you could bet your butt that more generals would be wearing it.
Totally agree with this. I flat out don't believe there has ever been a hundred thousand suits made period, and more than a few thousands of them left.
yup cawl has become the plotarmor geedubs wanted ,as it is to science wanted dark matter.. it has become up to a point now that all the old lore has become prevalent of the new lore in my mind.

Wasn't the old lore state that terminator armour's original purpose was to refuel the space vessels but was repurposed for war as human life is cheap while the terminator armour is invaluable.
kinda, the original lore was it being 100% made by the admech, 3 months later they changed to being based in exo hazard suits used for places like plasma reactors and corrosive chem vats
Space Marine Terminator... imagine a 500 pound silverback gorilla suddenly smashing through a wall in front of/behind you wielding two automatic shotguns. Running would be your first thought, if you even have time for that. What the game "Space Hulk Deathwing" did really well was showing how vulnerable even Terminators are if caught off guard by an enemy coming from every direction with superior numbers. Terminators are not invincible and have very exploitable weaknesses. Either you ambush them in close quarters, overpower them with superior firepower or swarm them with numbers. In a straight fight they're nearly unkillable.

Hey Luetin, I'm off to college again, 2nd round, and this was a great video to watch before I plunged head first into scholarly pursuits for the next few months. Thank you!
it's because in the space hulk tabletop genestealers can kill you in one or two hits. which makes sense if genestealer's claws are suposed to be able to cut starship hulls
I have never played war hammer, but I must say that your presentation is quite nice. Good timing, dark tone, eerie soundtrack, and keeps your attention. Good Job!
Honestly, this is why I didn't like the turn based Space Hulk. These things are supposed to be walking weapons platforms, damn near impenetrable and carrying around weapons that have stood the test of time but they got shredded quickly and their guns jammed constantly.
@@Tacoguy1000 Because Terminators have the highest chance of stopping them. Due to the weapons they carry... and due to the thickness of the armour even though Genestealers can shred through it, it may take two or three swipes instead of one.
@@Tacoguy1000 the real reason they send terminators is because the space Hulks are always very radioactive. Even for normal space marine amor. Also since space hulks are one of the most dangerous settings on warhammer, they always send their veterans which are always clad in terminator armor.

Hey brother I love your videos. I feel like you would do a really good on on the history of warhammer 40k as a game. talking about the rules and gameplay aspects and how they evolved. Cheers
Just a bit of a nitpick to an extremely enjoyable video- in addition to the Custodes using Allarus Terminator Armour, they also used Aquilon Terminator Armour. I’m unsure if that was strictly during the Horus Heresy, but if regular Astartes chapters still make use of relic armours, the Custodes may, as well. Anyway- fantastic video, as per usual. Thank you so much for all the hard work and time that you put into your videos. I was going to introduce a few relatives to Warhammer, and always planned on having them watch your Emperor videos, but didn’t know where to go from there- but as you’ve added more and more excellent and in-depth (not to mention very well-written) videos, I have a definite “watch this one next!” playlist as a pretty definitive introduction to the world of 40K. So also, thanks for making my job so much easier, and for making them some of my favorite 40K vids to watch, too.
Just wanted to say i enjoy your videos a lot. I've never even played warhammer and knew literally nothing about it except it had space marines, yet i find myself continuing to watch these videos wantjng to learn more. I'm not sure i'd ever play still, but i definitely enjoy the lore and universe that's been created.
Great video. The idea that Terminator Armour is rooted in DAOT industrial and astro-industrial mechanisms designed to withstand the punishing forces of nature in the interests of collecting resources is interesting (re: your pinned comment). So would I be right in thinking that the Imperium is actually built upon the scraps of a long lost age and is protected by what are essentially techno-knights wearing re-designed ultra deep pressure wet suits or are the Astartes clad in STC designed armour built from the ground up?
4:40 - So what's the point of the black carapace then? Lutin. Hey. Lutin! What advantage does the black carapace offer a space marine over a non carapace'd woman wearing power armor? Hey Lutin where'd you go!
Astartes have better reflexes without significant training for it. And their movements are a lot less mechanical and slow. With the carapace it feels like a second skin, without it's feels like mechanized armor
The gravis armour worn by aggressors look cool but it just doesn’t compare to the old school terminator armour. Nothing really does in the world of 40k. There’s just something about the way it looks.
Leo Nidas that makes me wonder, if there are requirements in wearing the gravis armour for the primaris space marines like there is for the terminator armour
When you were talking about termies deep striking behind the enemies i nostalgiad like crazy. That was my entire strat when i was in high school, use ultramarines with allied grey knights, deep strike gk termies in. Game over.
The picture of the woman wearing power terminator armor was the most embarrassing thing I've ever seen from GW, and this is from a company that gave us Age of sigmar.
I've been a subscriber to your channel for quite some time. I remember first hearing you on a levelcap BF3 video maybe like 7 years ago, then subscribing to this channel shortly afterwards. I don't think your BF and other videos ever really did as well as your Warhammer videos. I'm glad you found something that interests both you and others here.
I love the "National geographic" ending of this. Just missing David Attenborough, " For all the tools that excist for the modern astartes, it would be fair to say that the terminators remain... the sledgehammers of the imperium!"
On Vracks a very old Inquisitor Rex dueled a greater Daemon of Khorne in his suit of Terminator Armor wrecking it in the process. I believe in this case however that the heavy lifting was done by his blessed sword but none the less minimal combat proficiency was demonstrated by a non augmented human in Tactical Dreadnought Armor.
Something to consider, FFG lists Mind Interface Units as a cybernetic addon for regular humans. Think of it as a scaled down black carapace to allow links to various armors etc. Which is how humans would be able to use powered armor more effectively while not having the say, bandwidth, to allow for full on sensory interface etc.
Excellent monologue of the origins of this piece of technology. The more I hear of the Warhammer 40K universe the more my fascination increases. Although, it is quite horrific in many aspects that the future has become nightmarish for the species of man in this fictional universe/reality. I'll definitely be looking to hear about the Mechanicum next. Thank you for sharing your labor, voice skills and attention to this subject.

@@sd501st5 ''just like that''
I just wanted to add some info on the newest of those armour's, the Allarus Pattern used by the Adeptus Custodes.
*GULP*
Now let that sink in for a minute and, regardless of what you are, be it Heretic, Mutant, Xeno or Daemon... pray to the Emperor that you *never* have to face Golden Banana Allarus Terminators in combat, because those guys will teach anything that's smaller than a Baneblade the meaning of "expanded anal circumference"...

@@Yujifanik So did Horus... The Big E used that *EXACT* tactic to give Horus the daddy spanking he deserved above earth.
Just because he was the Arch-Traitor doesn't mean his tactics were poor.
I bet his armor was more like 3 tons
It was only the crux's worn by captains anyway.

Wasn't the old lore state that terminator armour's original purpose was to refuel the space vessels but was repurposed for war as human life is cheap while the terminator armour is invaluable.
That would be awesome if true.

You left out there part where they were developed from reactor suits meant to service active plasma fusion reactors on starships.

Honestly, this is why I didn't like the turn based Space Hulk. These things are supposed to be walking weapons platforms, damn near impenetrable and carrying around weapons that have stood the test of time but they got shredded quickly and their guns jammed constantly.
In lore Tyranid Genestealers are known/infamous for being able to shred through Terminator Armour like it is made of paper.
@@Killeraholic Why then send terminator dudes against them? It feels like a waste.

Man. Primaris made me miss terminators, but you, Luetin, you just almost made me cry. Well done. I love terminators.
Great video. The idea that Terminator Armour is rooted in DAOT industrial and astro-industrial mechanisms designed to withstand the punishing forces of nature in the interests of collecting resources is interesting (re: your pinned comment). So would I be right in thinking that the Imperium is actually built upon the scraps of a long lost age and is protected by what are essentially techno-knights wearing re-designed ultra deep pressure wet suits or are the Astartes clad in STC designed armour built from the ground up?
semajdis go watch my STC video for more on this
4:40 - So what's the point of the black carapace then?
Lutin. Hey.

Love how the flimsy priests at 4:24 are easily lifting up what would be a hundred kg piece of metal
Not sure if I get your sentence but duelling a greater daemon is far from minimal
