      @@CanobieCoaster No problem until nowI thought it was pronounced junker too and I'm german XD. Btw, Kärnan is actually pronounced carenuhn in german but I think more people call it karnan because there are more english speaking coaster fans than there are germans who actually know about Kärnan :)

    Great Review. Junker completely blew me away after my first ride. It's a shame how few people talk about this ride. Junker has everything a coaster needs in my opinion. I was surprised how smooth it was. Really a phenomenal coaster and after 25 rides Junker sits in my top 5.

    The park this coaster is in is the northernmost amusement park in the world. Its latitude is 63°N. That is close to the Arctic Circle, though it is unlikely we will see the Arctic get an amusement park. With indoor parks, it would be cool to have roller coasters through lit tunnels, bumper cars going on neon lit tracks, and a stimulated starry sky due to how cold it would be outside.
    On the other hand, polar day would be cool! Imagine an amusement park operating at 2 AM! Like, stay as long as you want when the sun is up! Imagine roller coasters in the midnight sun and going on a carousel at 2 AM when it is sunny!
    There could be midnight concerts, outdoor movie screenings and themed parties during the white nights. Also, imagine if people have breakfast on a Ferris wheel at 2 AM.
    The breakfast on a Ferris wheel makes me think of the lunch on Tornado at M&D's.
    Because the sun is intense during the polar day, roller coasters would need tinted visors.
    For water rides, Disneyland has operated Splash Mountain when the temperature was near freezing.
    What would be your thoughts on the polar night/midnight sun at parks if those experiences were made eventually?

      they were removed last summer. they were added to accomodate for corona as the 6 feet distance was heavily enforced across the country. in 2020, powerland had a attendance limit of 500 guests per day still my best year ever there. none of the rides had any queue time for the entire day . in 2021 they lifted off this limit and added these pads into the queue lines.

    I've been looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this ride. Ever since Monster blew me away, I have been very interested in Junker. I love vertical lift hills followed by beyond vertical drops, but that launch sounds awesome. Monster rode perfectly smooth with no rattle on my 2 visits there. I was hoping that Junker was also smooth, but I know that most Gerstlauers do have at least a little rattle, just like B&M.

    You forgot to mention that all parks w both a B&M hyper and giga have both coasters with a completely different layout, especially Canada Wonderland and King's Island, where the hyper is even with (if not actually better than) the giga for quality. Only at Carowinds is the giga a unanimous winner, and even that isn't a particularly airtime based ride. Also: the reason you don't feel a difference between the front and back is because it's all one car. In conclusion: I'd never heard of this coaster until now and after seeing this I think it's not as good a Karnan but it's probably better than The Smiler or any other Gerstlauer I've ridden. Thanks for posting!

    • @OklahomaCoasterFan
      @OklahomaCoasterFan 3 года назад

      You'd be surprised. I have made 2 trips to Carowinds over multiple days in 2018 & 2021, and I always talk with locals while waiting in lines. It's about 50/50 between Fury & Intimidator among the general public. They would tell me that they like that Intimidator has a lot more hills, and they don't like Fury's rattle. I think it's just us enthusiasts who (almost) unanimously pick Fury. For my tastes, at KI & CW, the giga is easily better than the hyper.

    This coaster looks like one of gersts best! How does it compare to Karacho? And did you ride the Smiler when you visited the UK?

    • @-Tim-
      @-Tim- 3 года назад

      Karacho does not have the strongest forces (airtime, hangtime, etc.). Junker has very strong airtime and a lot of hangtime and whip. I personally just miss that with Karacho, although Karacho also has a great layout. And I think Junker also rides better, because Karacho shakes a little in the turn before the mid-course. I personally think Junker is just better in general. But I haven't ridden Smiler yet, so I can't judge that.

    • @CanobieCoaster
      @CanobieCoaster  3 года назад +2

      Junker is more intense start to finish than Karacho (though Karacho has a few elements as good as those on Junker). Smiler is fun, but I prefer the more varied ride of Junker.
