One of the best museum visits that I ever had in DC was to the National Gallery of Art with the father-in-law of my husband's college roommate. The Mom, Dad and the kids went to Natural History with my husband but Grandpa had been there already and really preferred to see the art museum right next door. Sadly, Napoleon by J L David was not at home that day but I got to introduce him to my friend, Rembrandt, saw the RG Shaw memorial and the one Leonardo in the National Gallery. We wondered through the sculptures, which I hadn't seen before and we, unlike other tourists, didn't sit on the historic furniture in the historic furniture collection and were not taken off by the guards. We also had the excellent gelato that can be found there.
I just came to Washington from NJ for a day to visit Arlington and pay respects at various momuments and memorials. Your videos were a tremendous help in all aspects, especially using the bus/metro system. Thanks for the time and effort you spent making these videos.
Uberpool options was great when I visited DC with my 4 year old. We Ubered everywhere and saved our energy for walking around at the destination. Pretty cheap too. I wasn’t as annoying as Uberpool in NYC either.
It can be useful for a solo traveler or couple if you're OK with possibly a longer ride. If you have 3 or more people in your group it's not an option.
One supplement to the esclator rule--don't come to a sudden halt when you step off. You may get run over. It's hard to believe that there are actually people who need to be told that!
i live in dc and another place to is georgetown it’s historical and there’s a lot to do also u can find these really cool shops in downtown dc they have like this 80s theme shop
Be careful on the escalators too some really keep going up can mess with your equilibrium if one is effected by this I highly recommend elevators if possible
You can also save a TON based on the site you book through. I just booked 1 night in Arlington (Courthouse) at a Hilton Garden Inn for Veterans' Day 2018 for $88 through Booking (including taxes). Would've cost $170 through Hilton's site.
Hello! Your videos are great. They are the best RUclips pages I've seen about Washington DC. I am going to go sightseeing in November to DC and I have two questions please: 1) Is there any restriction to enter museums with photographic tripods ?; 2) Is there a restriction to enter museums with medium photography backpacks and umbrellas?
Hi ! Thank you for the videos ! I’ll visit Washington in october (7 to 9)with my mom and I’m eager to visit this famous city. Since I am disabled (I have MS and walk with a cane)I will rent a wheelchair to avoid having to walk. It might be interesting to make a video on this subject. If you’re interested I will give you a feedback later on the experience.
Yes, this topic is definitely on my list and I am working on researching and getting information on it. Unfortunately I probably won't have a video filmed, edited and posted by October 7th though.
@@TripHacksDC Of course I made the reservation already and I know what I want to do. Thank you. Do you know if I can ride a taxi with the wheelchair though? In France I believe that sometimes you can put it in the trunk but I don’t think it’s that frequent. My mom will have to push me around but it will help me a lot.
These videos are great and SUPER helpful, but I can't agree with staying close to the National Mall even with really good hotel prices. Every hotel I looked at charges at least $40 per day just for parking. That's a hard pass for someone on a budget.
Why are you even driving to DC in the first place? If you really think about the cost of gas, whatever you might buy at a gas station on the road, and parking might not be a bad idea to look at a budget flight.
I know this is not relivent but I am visiting DC in a few weeks, will I get hungry while I am walking??? Do I need to bring snacks? And where do I pack them? What is the best light snacks? Thank you Trip Hacks DC!!! Very helpful video!
One thing I noticed about DC when I got there is that everything closes early, even restaurants. After 9 or 10 o'clock you won't find many places still open.
Where did you stay if you don't mind me asking? If we're comparing DC to other major cities, I think it's quite comparable because I've been everywhere in USA. I noticed that the most dense the population is, the more likely the food spots would stay open later. So New York City would be the most followed by Chicago, and so on and so on.
Make sure to check out the description for links to some of the videos I mentioned. Leave a comment if you have any questions about your trip!
Ok, thank you!
I did a night tour of the monuments and I am so glad I did. The monuments are beautiful at night.
The circulator is awesome though I didn’t use it on the national mall. What we did is went to different parts of a national mall on different days.

There is a tunnel that takes 5 min to walk to walk to the pentagon city station
Some blocks are actually more then a block. Just figured folks should know before walking the City
Please make a video about how to get around with someone in a wheelchair.
Download the Capital Bikeshare app, so you can find what location has bikes and then has open locations when you need to drop a bike off.
This was a great video! I just recently went to D.C. and vlogged about it as well. It’s definitely worth a visit!

Yep. Georgetown is very popular for visitors.

Fly into Reagan Airport if you want to be able to take the Metro right from the airport.
The standing on the right is also a New York City rule too

There are some accessible taxis. This will explain how to request one: ohr.dc.gov/taxis/request

A recommended trip hack is to park somewhere other than your hotel to save money. Check out ruclips.net/video/AKHFi_lMrvg/видео.html

Pack some granola bars in a backpack or purse.
Thanks!
I am in Washington right now

This is true. There is some nightlife but especially during the workweek a lot closes by 10.

I was in Downtown DC which is in the center of the city.
LoL, downtown DC is very large unlike other major cities like L.A.s downtown or Houston's downtown.
Can you be a little more specific?
1. Is very important.
The most important
Hello
Is Logan circle a good area to stay for a tourist ?
Yes
You can’t go wrong anywhere on 14th St.
Do you have tours for spanish speakers?
I am not a fluent Spanish speaker, but send a message through www.triphacksdc.com/contact-us and I can see about finding you a Spanish speaking guide.
Should you rent a car when traveling to DC
No

Do you like the Old Ebbitt Grill or is it just a tourist trap?
Not my personal favorite but a lot of people on my tours have gone and enjoyed it.
I know you hate this question but what is your personal favorite? We are looking for something with a lot of choices...steak, seafood type place.
My personal favorite restaurant is Thai X-ing.
Ate there last week. Salmon & Creme Brûlée was great.
