Makar Sakranti, Khicdi, or Uttrayan is a 🪁 kite flying festival celebrated in different parts of India including Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and more.
We shopped the cheapest kites from Delhi Gate in Ghaziabad, ordered kite festival level manjha from Vishal Kite Center, and then boarded train to Gujarat to celebrate kite flying at Halol or Pavagadh.
We bought some really big kites, different shaped kites like circle kite, peacock shaped one, 4 feet kite, and one from Bali. While we could fly two of them, the other two (Bali and 4 feet) couldn’t be flown - thanks to no wind day on 15th jan.
We have safely stored them for next year.
We also bought balloons to fly, firecrackers to light and a few candles for the night kite (which was unfortunately cut by a kite flying maniac who just couldn’t keep it to himself) - No, I do not take that in good spirit (we want to have more fun with the candle kite).
But in all fairness, kite flying is all about flying kites, cutting them and catching them.
