About ten years ago I gave a chunk of Osage Orange to a friend of mine who is an experienced bowl maker, and he said that as he tried trimming the piece down that small chunks flew off and left cavities that made it even harder to deal with on the second pass, so that he gave up on it. Osage Orange is the hardest wood growing in north America. But I bet if someone could make a bowl out of it that it would last for 1000 years.

Question: if I put something that non-symetrical on my lathe it would wobble so terribly that it may fall over (or at least walk across the shop). How do you make it turn so true with a non-round blank?

    • @jarkko.makkonen

Awesome project. I'm going to give you some advice even though you don't know me, and you didn't ask. Set the piece turning and then look through the camera. If it's blurry slowly change the lathe speed until it clears, this might take a few tries. If the picture is clear, it will be much more enjoyable to watch, and you will gain more subscribers. I have just subscribed to your channel, and I hope you are not offended by this comment. 😎
