    The Osmonds were a clean cut group no drugs no alcohol no wild living no scandals

    My 13 year old self was there in that hot mess in a folding chair somewhere on the track, but only because the girl I was with (or was trying to "get with") wanted to see them. I wouldn't have admitted it at the time because as everyone knew it wasn't cool for a boy to appreciate the Osmonds, but they put on a great show, what little of it I could hear over the screaming. They were very talented and could do it all. I was never a big concert person, but I also saw Sonny and Cher and the Carpenters at the fair in other years, each time because someone else wanted to see them. In retrospect I'm glad I got to experience those time capsules of the early '70s.

    I was at this concert. It was over 90 degrees out and people passed out in the audience from the heat. I'll never forget this show, it was so good! I still have my instamatic camera pictures of it.

    My sister had Donny Osmond on her wall on a poster for years. I remember those teenage years.
    I’m glad this footage exists because it confirms that they were talented performers and singers.

    I have always loved the Osmond family and admired the way they keep their faith and the way they truly love one another. You are a great example to all of us. Roberta M. Also thanks for singing Happy Birthday to me on my 90th birthday last year.

    I seen them july 15th 1972 in Atl Fulton county stadium in Atl GA . I had turned 7 2 days before that . I remember we had my birthday party that day then off to the concert . Great memories for sure , I am 56 now and the only one left in my immediate family . Mom dad and brother who was there with me I remember well and several other friends of mine . I sure miss them so much but great memories from that day . I remember Bo Donaldson and the Haywoods was the opening act for them then and again when I seen them 3 years later in the Omni here in Atl. I picked up on keyboard and my brother on drums so music has always been in our family with my older brother going on to play in a band called Cobra and then Alien through the 70’s and the 80’s based out of Atl and they played all around the southeast for years . But I can say being influenced by bands such as this at such a young age got me interested in playing an instrument so some things just stick with you in a good way sometimes 🙂

    I beg to differ; they were VERY cool! I think Donny must have been going through his infamous voice change - seemed like there were a couple of lines there where he couldn't quite decide which key to sing in, lol. AWESOME talented guys! THANKS FOR SHARING!

    • @southernwanderer7912
      @southernwanderer7912 6 лет назад +4

      You are correct, Mag G. This concert was in 1972. Donny went through his voice change in 1972 at age 13. He lost his co-lead songs with the Osmonds as a result. Merrill had to make up the difference in the higher notes with his "strained" tenor.

    Wonder if they liked doing these outdoor "Fair" shows, especially in the staggering heat and humidity of Summer? This appearance came fresh off their multi-day stay in Holmdel NJ, where they performed multiple shows at the Garden State Arts Center...I was there...stayed at the same motel/hotel...The Heywoods (of Bo Donaldson and..) stayed there too...lots of fun memories...late August, 1972.

We were young adults, waited in the hot sun, grabbed folding chairs then balanced & danced on them the entire time! Oh to be young again...LOL We screamed and sang along too. : ) How were you able to get originals from them??? These had to be on 16 mm film way back then.. THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!!

    Always copying someone else's style. Elvis, Jacksons, Oak Ridge Boys. Country, Rock, Motown. Talented and hard working but never had their own identity or style.

    • @southernwanderer7912
      @southernwanderer7912 6 лет назад +6

      Every band today copies other bands. That's where they get their inspiration. Name one bad that doesn't take something from another band.
      By the way, the Osmonds and Jackson Five were popular at the same time. How could they copy one another?
      Oakridge boys came much later, so who copied who?

      So true osmands are foneys

    • @osarecool
      @osarecool 3 года назад +2

      Actually. The dancing as a group of brothers came from the Osmonds, not the Jacksons. While One Bad Apple was Jackson style(since it was intended for them), they did the dancing as a group of brothers first, and their Bad Apple came out only a few months after the Jackson's first hit. So Jackson's copied the Osmonds on dancing. The Osmonds were dancing way back in the 60s on the Andy Williams show. I like the Jackson's as much as the next person, but how many instruments can they play? And I know as a whole their vocal and dancing abilities are nowhere near the Osmonds.
      The Jackson's father made his boys watch the Osmonds on the Andy Williams Show all the time. Don't know his reasons, but I'm sure Michael hated it. But the Jackson's and the Osmonds were good friends, and they've played ball with each other in the halls of hotels. Donny and Michael were the closest.
      Osmonds were no more copy-cats than anyone else. Look at John Lennon. Many of his hits were rip-offs of his favorite music at the time. He'd say things like 'That was me doing Chuck Berry' or whoever you want to fill into the blank. Just look at thier 'Plan' album. Totally thinking outside the box. Going forward wuuth their beliefs no matter what anyone thought, and there is so many genres on that record it's insane.
      So, don't how much you know the history of the Osmonds, but c'mon man.

    • @46reno
      @46reno 3 года назад

      @@osarecool The Osmonds did borrow from the Jackson’s. They even did a Motown tribute album. No one disputes the talent of the Osmonds, but their career seemed to follow whatever was the trend. Whatever style was hot, they jumped on it. It’s a shame they didn’t do something more original. Jumps suits one day, Western clothes the next, then Motown, then rock. It’s like they didn’t know who they were. I think it can be debated as to the better singers. I am not a big Jackson’s fan at all. It is just the the Osmonds bandwagon jumping that made them a bit predictable.

    • @osarecool
      @osarecool 3 года назад +2

      @@46reno Excuse me, but what are you referring to as a 'Motown album'?
