how to remove pigeon Wing feathers

Never clip any secondary feathers....ever. For companion parrots it is sometimes necessary for safety sake - but a pigeon???? There are many other ways to temporarily prevent them from flying off, but in 16 years I have never found it necessary. Poor baby.

After my B&G flew to a neighbors roof and didn't know where the hell to go I became more consistent with trimming the first 5 flights. He can still fly but no altitude. Daughter list her beautiful conure when he flew out an open door. But homing pigeons??????

you know if you would of cut half way up thoughes feathers wait 7 days then pluck them. that works better thoughes feathers were still alive

I did not cut those feathers on the bird. The bird came to me that way. I had had him over for weeks and decided it needed to be done. If I cut it's only one or two flights not the whole darn wing. They even cut secondary feathers. Bird is doing well feathers are growing in. He can get off the ground again. That I am happy for. Thank you for watching
