From February 1992 to May 1994, I also served as a battalion intelligence soldier in the 20th Mechanized Infantry Division, also known as the Yangpyeong Mechanized Division. Even though I was an office worker, I remember constantly participating in brigade maneuver training, battalion maneuver training, mobile combat shooting, and various other outdoor maneuver training. Now, due to the division merger, it has been merged into the 11th Division and has disappeared, but I am proud of serving in such a wonderful unit during my youth. If war breaks out, even though I am in my 50s, I am willing to run to the battlefield and sacrifice my life for my country. BEST RANKING 7군단은 군단본부도 버리고 북진이 기본전술임. 뒤로 빠지는게 아니라 소사진지라고 전투 출동시 부대주변에 지정된 장소가 있음. 예전엔 현무, 나이키 방공포대가 7군단 소속이었지만 지금은 미사일사령부로 떨어져 나갔음. 여하튼 전시상황이 되면 7군단은 편제가 예하 기보사, 직할 7포병여단, 미군2사단, 해병1사단, 항공대 등으로 구성되어 전차, 자주포, 다련장, 공격형헬기등으로 중무장하고 북진작전을 수행함

SK soldiers had to suicide attack with a molotov cocktail to stop NK tanks. That is why SK is obsessed under firepower. The video clip above is just showing 1/4 of the 20th MECH division Now SK has more than 1800 3rd generation MBTs, 2100 155mm SPGs, 360 230mm MLRS, 900 105mm SPGs with 3.2 million shells, more than 2000 short and long range ballistic and cruise missiles with 4 ton warhead or up to 3000 kilometers range. That is just current weapon list. SK is developing much more powerful weapons like aircraft carriers or nuclear powered submarines to defend against from NK, China and Japan Furthermore, they have plenty of nuclear wastes which can turn into plutonium to make enough at least 5,000 nuclear warhead, and it's not a secret that they already have KSS-3 class which has submarine laucned ballistic missiles. Eventually they are gonna have SSBN with potential nuclear capabillity at KSS-3 Batch 3 phase.

The 20th Division of the ROK Army is a subordinate unit of the 7th Mobile Corps. The 7th Mobile Corps is the only military unit in the Republic of Korea that focuses on defense and is dedicated to offensive missions. Most tanks, armored vehicles, attack helicopters, and many other armored forces in the Republic of Korea are deployed in the 7th Corps and its subordinate units. Their mission is to abandon their garrison in the event of a war with North Korea. 일단 저 병력은 20사단 '일부' 입니다. 저정도 병력을 여단급이라고 하는데 장비가 다양한 이유는 각 장비별로 대대 하나씩 와서 그렇다고 예상이 됩니다. 기계화사단의 평균 여단 수는 4개로 영상 당시 기준 우리나라에는 5개의 기계화사단이 있었습니다. 20사단이 기계화사단 중에서도 강한 편이었으며 7군단에는 4개의 기계화 사단이 있었으니 대략 7군단의 30% 라고 가정을 합니다. 즉 여기 사열에 나온 병력은 우리나라 육군의 30% 의 30% 의 25% 입니다. 따라서 이 병력은 대한민국 육군의 약 2.3% 입니다.
장갑차가 k21로 많이 대체되었구나 . 이것도 멋있는데 내가군생활 하면서 독수리훈련때 훈련다 끝나고 이포대교밑에서 우리사단 숙영할때 교량전차 3대 주차해놓은게 진짜 압권이였는데 그 교량 세워서 마치 성벽처럼 3대를 세워놨는데 진짜 멋있었지. 나도 많은 훈련하고 그랬지만 이런 장비들 있는 기계화사단 장비들 집결했을때 진짜 대단하다는 생각든다. 돈도 장난 아니고.
This division is one of sth.korea's strongest punch. All regiments are mechanized and their mbt is at least k1a1 which can deatroy every tank in nth.korea in a single salvo.

예전 국군의 날 행사때 해당 정부 출범 후 첫 국군의 날이라 의장대와 각군 사관생도들, 보병부대로 시작하며 시작된 도보 분열을 필두로 전차와 장갑차, 자주포와 MLRS 등 각 기동장비가 모습을 보일때, 참전용사 분들께서 눈물 짓던 것을 보며 정말 만감이 교차한다 라는 말이 무엇인지 깨달았습니다.
먼저 간 전우에게 보고 있느냐 라고 말씀하시는 듯한 표정과 눈물, 그리고 소총 한자루와 철모 하나 쓰고 적진으로 뛰어들던 우리가 이렇게나 발전했구나 하시는 모습도 눈에 선합니다.
하지만 이 못난 후배는 선배님들 눈에선 선배님들의 피땀으로 일궈내셨다는 메세지는 읽을 수 없었습니다.
우리 후배들은 좋은거 먹고 좋은 장비로 싸웠으면 한다. 라는 말씀을 되새기며, 저 또한 제 후배들이 좋은 장비와 여건에서 훈련할 수 있도록 노력하겠습니다.

BEST RANKING 7군단은 군단본부도 버리고 북진이 기본전술임. 뒤로 빠지는게 아니라 소사진지라고 전투 출동시 부대주변에 지정된 장소가 있음. 예전엔 현무, 나이키 방공포대가 7군단 소속이었지만 지금은 미사일사령부로 떨어져 나갔음. 여하튼 전시상황이 되면 7군단은 편제가 예하 기보사, 직할 7포병여단, 미군2사단, 해병1사단, 항공대 등으로 구성되어 전차, 자주포, 다련장, 공격형헬기등으로 중무장하고 북진작전을 수행함

I served as an education officer(* my rank is First Lieutenant / S3 Officer) in the 20th Division, and I was in charge of that event at the time. That's only 1/3 of the equipment for each battalion. The total power of the division is more than that! lol
20사단에서 교육장교로 복무했는데 당시 저 행사를 담당한 적이 있습니다. (괄호 속 S1은 교육장교라는 편제가 외국인에게 생소할거 같아서 의역해서 적은겁니다)저거 각 대대당 1/3 장비만 참여했습니다. 사단 전체전력은 저것보다 더 많습니다ㅋㅋㅋ

SK didn't have any heavy weapons like tanks or APCs at first year of the Korean war. SK soldiers had to suicide attack with a molotov cocktail to stop NK tanks.
That is why SK is obsessed under firepower.
The video clip above is just showing 1/4 of the 20th MECH division
Now SK has more than 1800 3rd generation MBTs, 2100 155mm SPGs, 360 230mm MLRS, 900 105mm SPGs with 3.2 million shells, more than 2000 short and long range ballistic and cruise missiles with 4 ton warhead or up to 3000 kilometers range.
That is just current weapon list. SK is developing much more powerful weapons like aircraft carriers or nuclear powered submarines to defend against from NK, China and Japan
Furthermore, they have plenty of nuclear wastes which can turn into plutonium to make enough at least 5,000 nuclear warhead, and it's not a secret that they already have KSS-3 class which has submarine laucned ballistic missiles.
Eventually they are gonna have SSBN with potential nuclear capabillity at KSS-3 Batch 3 phase.
Because Americans never provided any tanks, APCs or even anti-tank weapons when they left in 1948. They wouldn't trust South Koreans enough to defend their country. While NK had tons of tanks and heavy armour from Soviet Union from 1948 to 1950.

(군대 다녀오신 분들은 사단과 여단의 차이를 아실 것임) 즉 부대가 없어진 게 아니라 독립부대로 재편된 것임. 예전에는 사단차원에서 작전을 했다면 지금은 범군단차원에서 작전시행이 가능하게 되었습니다. 그리고 문재인 정부 들어 국방비 등이 확 늘어서 몇 년 후면 일본의 국방비도 추월할 예정. 물론 우리나라는 육군에 비해 해공군이 빈약하여 그쪽으로 더 전략적 투자가 되어야겠지만 어쨌든 문정부가 국방을 무시한다는 것은 어디까지나 사람들의 선입견에 따른 뇌피셜에 불과함.

You can't be the world super power without having allies. South Korean military joined US military operations after the Korean war such as Vietnam war, Iraq war etc like many other US allies. It's good to have allies that watch each others back and since China is 21st century nazis, allies are more necessary.

I'm always curious how motivated ROK military are considering they MUST serve. US is voluntary and incentives to serve which results in enthusiasm, I think "mandatory" would make ROK military demoralized and not as effective.

The 20th Division of the ROK Army is a subordinate unit of the 7th Mobile Corps. The 7th Mobile Corps is the only military unit in the Republic of Korea that focuses on defense and is dedicated to offensive missions. Most tanks, armored vehicles, attack helicopters, and many other armored forces in the Republic of Korea are deployed in the 7th Corps and its subordinate units. Their mission is to abandon their garrison in the event of a war with North Korea. It advances all at once to North Korea's capital, Pyongyang, occupies and destroys the city, and additionally destroys and occupies strategic facilities such as power plants, broadcasting towers, and food warehouses. So, the 7th Corps does little defensive training and most of its training is focused on attack.

자랑스런 대한민국 국군들 화이팅!
일단 저 병력은 20사단 '일부' 입니다. 저정도 병력을 여단급이라고 하는데 장비가 다양한 이유는 각 장비별로 대대 하나씩 와서 그렇다고 예상이 됩니다.
기계화사단의 평균 여단 수는 4개로 영상 당시 기준 우리나라에는 5개의 기계화사단이 있었습니다. 20사단이 기계화사단 중에서도 강한 편이었으며 7군단에는 4개의 기계화 사단이 있었으니 대략 7군단의 30% 라고 가정을 합니다. 즉 여기 사열에 나온 병력은 우리나라 육군의 30% 의 30% 의 25% 입니다. 따라서 이 병력은 대한민국 육군의 약 2.3% 입니다.
20사단 11사단에 흡수
28사단 8사단에 흡수 당함~
7기동군단에 4세대 이상 땡크 자주포 8할이상임 화력으로만 보면 그정돈 아닐듯..

장갑차가 k21로 많이 대체되었구나 . 이것도 멋있는데 내가군생활 하면서 독수리훈련때 훈련다 끝나고 이포대교밑에서 우리사단 숙영할때 교량전차 3대 주차해놓은게 진짜 압권이였는데 그 교량 세워서 마치 성벽처럼 3대를 세워놨는데 진짜 멋있었지. 나도 많은 훈련하고 그랬지만 이런 장비들 있는 기계화사단 장비들 집결했을때 진짜 대단하다는 생각든다. 돈도 장난 아니고.
