Ugetsu Kitan is an interesting (despite the bizarre factor) horror visual novel. Is adapted from Ugetsu Monogatari (雨月物語, Tales of Moonlight and Rain) is a collection of nine supernatural tales by the Japanese author Ueda Akinari, first published in 1776. Largely taken from traditional Japanese and Chinese ghost stories, the collection is among most important works of Japanese fiction of the 18th century, the middle of the Edo period.
Yeah, it looks interesting, and I think I recognize some of the yokai. Shame I can’t read Japanese, which would be useful for playing a Japanese visual novel.
We used to call that the yokai game. A long time ago when I was working at EB Games someone turned in a copy of that imported nightmare. Soulja Boys new console sure looks legit. Anyways, speed ramping could be due to uncapped FPS- a horrible idea. The slow framerate is because the console's renderer is trash, the lack of input is due to it not detecting the button presses during the missed frames, the emulators are all garbage and that's why the inputs also randomly do nonsense with multi presses. I'm amazed how fast it's playing the PS1 games considering, everything. The last game you mentioned looks like something about someone who commits suicide and goes to purgatory. You should totally upload it somewhere.

Okay, so I found a bit more info on "Ugetsu Kaitan". This was first released for the PC-98 in 1992 and was an adaptation of the 1776 novel titled "Ugetsu Monogatari" by Ueda Akinari, which is a collection of 9 supernatural tales.
Ugetsu kitan is actually a cult classic series with horror fans it is in the same vain as lsd dream emulator a game similarly strange but most people who played these are Japanese since not proper translations are made lsd have been play by more foreigners but that’s because there’s no text beyond the title screen and save menu which does have a translation but most people don’t need it. But kitans story is you’ve committed suicide so you’re basically being punished. I’m kinda surprised to see it though. Since you know cult classic.
Chillidoge yah, I noticed that too. Would have been interesting to for to have shown what MS Word looks like on this system, If it really it was an old version of MS word.
why did the mystery ps1 game have japanese folklore and horror story monsters in the bamboo forest? The snake neck girl is from a horror movie, the umbrela with one eye and foot is a type of oni and tge cyclops is just that.
Wacka Doodle That’s exactly what I was wondering because I knew I recognized those monsters as soon as they appeared. Whatever this game is I now have the sudden need to physically own a copy of it.
I'm surprised how well Ugetsu Kitan seemed to be running. I'm not sure if any of those were 3D models (it's kind of hard for me to tell the difference on older retro consoles between full 3D and polished 2D meant to try and look 3D) but even if it was 2D based, the frame rate was better than Last Blade. In fact I barely saw any hiccups. Maybe most of the stuff was actually FMV? Those run nearly perfectly even on weak knockoff consoles like this, and since it's mostly an interactive novel, that might be the answer.
I can't see anyone else say this, but the reason why the Neo-Geo games are named strangely and are all in zip files is probably because they aren't using any metadata in their front end. Arcade ROMs are, by default, zipped up and named according to a naming scheme implemented by MAME that adheres to the DOS 8.3 standard and acknowledged by Final Burn variants (Final Burn Alpha and Final Burn NEO).
If you thought this and that first knockoff SNES you showed us were horrid enough, well, I recently heard news about a third knockoff SNES, the Super Mini SN-02. That one actually resembles the US version of the SNES, albeit containing 821 8-bit games being sold at Walmart and Amazon. Even with that said, however, some of the games on it are downright objectionable. When Walmart and Amazon caught wind of what was on this nasty thing, they removed it from their sites. Believe me. It’s… just… BAD!
Electronics hobbyist here. I think the control issues are because they put so little effort into how their console polls the controllers that it mixes the buttons up! I'd need to tear it down to see what's in it, but I'm willing to guess the controller's buttons are *multiplexed* There's nothing wrong with that in theory, that's how old-school keyboards and the Sega Genesis pad worked, but you might have run into the same "ghosting" those keyboards ran into when certain combinations were pressed.

So many people doesn't know Yokai at all. This is upsetting and feel rushed, especially since you learn those by Gaijin Goombah and probably Nitro Rad's counter argument of Yo-kai Watch review by Jimmy Whetzel's unfinished playthrough.

9:20 I think i have an explanation to what was happening. Controls in arcade emulation can have issues if you're using wrong arcade set to version of MAME that is running. Most notably old MAME 2000 sets running on MAME 2010 and above. As for screen tearing and overall low frame count, it's due to very low specs of machine itself. It's probably some kind of weak SBC or very outdated tablet board running customized GUI, similar to Emulation Station but much less sophisticated.
Peter Knetter seems to have had a bit more fun with this so-called console than Shane did!

Why the creators of this thing didn't use Retropie in the system?
It's not a Raspberry Pi, that much I can be sure of. There are so many cheap boards available from China that they'll just use whatever they can get their hands on.
Ugetsu Kitan was a visual novel horror game based off the book “Ugestu Monogatari”. It was indeed a PS1 game but it was only released in Japan and I only found this info off of the “obscure horror” forums

The reason the Sega Genesis games don’t work is that this system isn’t using blast processing.

I'm surprised how well Ugetsu Kitan seemed to be running. I’m amazed you didn’t play the intro to Donkey Kong Country 2; it would’ve been a perfect example of the sound emulation.

There's nothing wrong with that in theory, that's how old-school keyboards and the Sega Genesis pad worked, but you might have run into the same "ghosting" those keyboards ran into when certain combinations were pressed.
