This song hit me real hard. My family really did "go broke in my 18th year" due to an economic crash (1980s). And my dad really did have to "take a job many miles from here" (From Northern CA, to West Texas). The difference is, I went with him to take a construction job. We worked side by side and I saw the pain in his eyes every day. He died at 51. He was a great, hard working, American family man. Excuse me, I have water in my eyes.
N S Sorry for your loss man. There is nothing better than being able to work side by side with your dad. I worked with mine quite a while, he taught me everything he knew about being a mechanic. He just passed last year before we got to build us another street rod.
+Thomas Schneider how is life being such a bitter bitch? How does anything you said make him a fraud? He can’t know about the working mans life simply because he sang a different genre before? Gtfo
@N S Sorry to hear that dude. My family is struggling to keep up with money, and my dad was deployed from Edinburg (Texas) to Kuwait and from there to Iraq, and is currently trying to find a job. So i know how ya feel. This songs makes me cry a little. I can relate to it.
Man I know your pain my brother over doused .when I was 12 he was my big brother.my dad's first born .he worked away from home after my brother died my dad said John it's up to you to help out .because I'm not sure I can do this with out you
Need more of this....Cody, Tyler Childers and Colter Wall are leading us back to COUNTRY MUSIC GLORY!!!.......FOllow Sturgil SImpson to the promise land of Outlaw boys!
Real country here boys and girls, with some serious soul... cant believe in 2020 we still get to keep him away from the mainstream sharks that ruin artists...
That's a real Life and the pain involved in his travels ... Cody you speak to MILLIONS of people brother ... You will bring Country back. I have faith in you
This song is deep. Hits me everytime i listen to it. My friend from Oklahoma got me in Cody Jinks. Thank you Brooke. Thank you Cody Jinks. I show this song to so many people. " Some where in the middle is fine".
2:35-3:07 is amazing Happy for this dude for that. Very few can convey feeling like n that way. He left something for his loved ones when he’s gone. You can tell that’s %100 genuinely who he is a person. Awesome.
I'd love to strum an ol 6 string with this dude for real I defintinly relate to his music heavy. This is for us misfits who never found a crowd but still keep it real. Somewhere in the middle's just fine
AMAN TO THAT! I'm 61, heard C.J. on juke box few months back, went saw him Nov 2nd. Cant get enough. It's like, his songs make my life ,mostly prior life, flash right before my eyes! GREAT STUFF...BRILLIANT
White or brown or black we all struggle to survive and that’s should unite us ... hard working men that just got wise through the struggle and take pride of that
+Danny Roark He's playing two shows in Portland this week with Whitey Morgan. It's rare to get a good county show here. I wish Jamey Johnson would come through.
Seen him last night(08-05-17) with his song writing buddy( I'm not the devil) Ward Davis in Ardmore ok... Was flippin amazing as always! Have seen him twice in last month and a half and hope that trend continues. Cody if you reading this just know that ive seen well over 50 shows in my 39 yrs, rock country whatever, and you are one of my Favs brother. Thank you from bottom of my heart for your talents and giving us great evenings with you. P.s cant believe I missed Grand Prairie show with Kristopherson for crying out loud I used to live off beltline and helmet 5 min away in Irving lol. Thanks again!!!
Have a lot of his music on spotify and will say his videos of just singing are so much better, both are good but his albums don't do him justice like him just singing, amazing voice
Hunter Booker I’ve always wanted him to cut a live record like Eric Church did a few years back. You’re 100% right his recorded tracks is good as they still are don’t do him justice. Cody puts on 1 hell of a show. I’ve saw him 3 times and will continue to go any time he’s close.
Define broke. I fight to eat everyday, but dont mean I aint happy. Finding happiness in the smallest things makes you rich. To me, thats what matters. Not a fancy car, a big house, or money. But a persons character matters to me. Somewhere in the middles just fine
Cody has quickly turned into the go to music building Chevy trucks in a body shop in Flint Michigan. I'll be damned if the most unlikely country fans have been emerging.
mattgwill8008 I agree man nothing better than good music and damn sure nothing better than Chevy. Before dad passed we got to build a few cars together the last was an SS Monte Carlo we were in the process of trying to find a 55 Bel air or a 69 Nova when he passed a I will at least build one more just for him.
I like the way Courtney and Deryl both stop what they are doing to really appreciate the song. If you watch the full set most of the time they are doing their own thing in the background. Not on this one.
A folk singer named Will Bluefield wrote & recorded a song of the exact same title in 1980, although the songs are completely different. Check it out on YT, it's also a great piece of work, lyrically and musically.
This dude will never know how much his music means to me, keep it real Cody jinks,
Same here
He's da' shiznit
Same!!!!!!!!!
And keep em coming! 💯🔥
I'm with you brother

It’s never been a simple thing
to see the world with a young mans brain
with an old mans heart
and a restless soul.
I love every version of this song, but this one is the best.
One of the most talented men I have ever seen! His music has changed my life
Need more of this....Cody, Tyler Childers and Colter Wall are leading us back to COUNTRY MUSIC GLORY!!!.......FOllow Sturgil SImpson to the promise land of Outlaw boys!

It doesnt get much better than this. You can tell the woman in the middle is diving deep into those lyrics. Amazing performance.
My FAVORITE, My comfort, My Home. Bless You
I come back to this so often. Best performance of this song I've seen. This man understands music
That's a real Life and the pain involved in his travels ... Cody you speak to MILLIONS of people brother ... You will bring Country back. I have faith in you
To those of us that appreciate REAL country, including yourself, he has brought it back! And I for one couldn’t be more thankful for that
Heard this on a local radio station that introduced me to Sturgill and Chris Stapleton......Cody is another winner!
wish I had a local radio station like that
I wish there was a country station like that in my area of New York. All we get is bro country nonsense.
This dude made me like country. This is REAL country.
I want this whole set on dvd... Frickin awesome!!
Jim Cooper would absolutely love for him to cut a live album as well as an acoustic.
I love Cody Jinks! This guy is talented AF!!!!!!!
I've worked dead winter putting metal on windows bare-handed and I've worked alongside PhDs in business for twenty years...I love this!!!!
That's where music comes from ❤
This song is deep. Hits me everytime i listen to it. My friend from Oklahoma got me in Cody Jinks. Thank you Brooke. Thank you Cody Jinks. I show this song to so many people. " Some where in the middle is fine".
thank you cody for keeping country alive .Thank you
This should have a lot more likes
For real man. His music hits harder than the old guys even... Conway, and Merle are proud brother.
One of my favorite songs of all time great job Cody jinks
My " and things" would be smoking a fat hooter and listening to this tune !!!

Happy for this dude for that.

My spirit animal is Cody Jinks.

I'd love to strum an ol 6 string with this dude for real I defintinly relate to his music heavy. This is for us misfits who never found a crowd but still keep it real. Somewhere in the middle's just fine
The reactions on the other talented musicians faces tells all you need to know about how strong this is. Real music
I feel like I'm living this song
Need this music right now
Best song of the millennium...
Thank you so much for posting these, so surreal! Jinks moves the soul so effortlessly
AMAN TO THAT! I'm 61, heard C.J. on juke box few months back, went saw him Nov 2nd. Cant get enough. It's like, his songs make my life ,mostly prior life, flash right before my eyes! GREAT STUFF...BRILLIANT

Such good songs, singing to broken people 👍. God bless you.

Great song. Love his "laid-back" style.
