    Case is an american knife company, they are owned by the same company that makes the Zippo lighters both HQ in Bradford PA. Its not that its a pocket knife made for opening a "case".

    My First "proper" watch was a Omgea Diver 300 "Golden Eye" - I still have it and daily worn for nearly 30y. Since added a Planet Ocean GMT and vintage Speedmaster Triple Date - my watch collection is largely complete. Great finds sir, but leave them alone - original conditon ALWAYS desirable for a collector.

    I've got a 69 Seamaster Deville that was my Dad's, I had it serviced and polished last year and although expensive the jewelers did a fantastic job!
    It's incredible how slim the movement is!
    My daily is a Tissot with thire powermatic 80 movement and it must be three times as thick!

    What you need is either a Jaxa caseback wrench which is tedious to set up but very firm on screwdowns, also recommend a camera lens wrench which is two round pointy bits of metal and a couple cross bars held in place by a thumbscrew, you will need that if you end up with a "Soviet" ring caseback, called Soviet as across the board most Soviet watches use the ring type of caseback but Bulova use it and has been found on some other exotic brands.

    I watch all your content and am encouraged watching you take on new hobbies. On the gold watch, potentially, you can pull the crown out and use a bulb to blow air and pop out the crystal. I have an old Hamilton where the caseback can’t be removed, and this is the method required. Not sure if that Omega is similar.

    After the war, there was a decided push towards more and more miniature devices as people saw them back then for the elegance and engineering that went into making the tiny movements as between the wars many folks still had their pocket watches on an albert chain. It was the 70's that changed for the larger and larger models, my radio compass homage I built is 55mm square, my current wear my 4R35 customised tuna is 46mm across the case and quite high too, my Invicta Russian Diver is 60mm and my Zlatoust which the Invicta is a homage to is 65mm with a 15mm crown guard and that is half a pound of solid brass on a 30mm strap... 5mm thick crystal too :D

      @@MarceloCNPartly because it has a smashed crystal, exposing the dial to moisture. Also, as the other guy said, it has a non-original caseback. It needs to be serviced and sealed before being worn.

Watch out when buying vintage watches, some can have radioactive lume… hopefully you are already aware of the dangers of buying vintage watches pre 1970 / 1960.. exposing the dials on unknown vintage watches is a big health risk if you breath in any dust partials that have come from any decayed lume

One small thing: I noticed that the strap on the gold Seamaster is too wide for the lug width of the case. It's so new-looking that it was probably put on by the seller. As one of few experts on Graflex cameras out there I am insanely annoyed that George Lucas decided to use Graflite handles for light sabers. Okay, it was mid-1970s, no one needed Speed Graphics and Graflexes Super D anymore, Graflex was completely and officially dead for several years, and these flashes were abundant - but not anymore.
    Finding a complete Graflite for the purpose of preserving the history of photography is now close to impossible.
    So if you want “a piece of history”, keep it as a flash, not a replica prop.

    • @tom_123
      @tom_123 15 дней назад

      @@johnpoulter It’s badly cracked near the bezel, exposing the dial and movement to humidity and it’s already started degrading the dial. He says as much in the video. It’s important that any watch, but especially a vintage watch with a manual or automatic movement, is sealed at the crystal, crown and caseback. So he’s right to say he’s going to replace the crystal.

    • @johnpoulter
      @johnpoulter 15 дней назад

      @@tom_123 That's a hairline crack and nothing much and there's a chip near the edge which again is no source of ingress. Sure, I'd replace the crystal because it could do with one. Probably a light service, new gaskets and away you go. I wouldn't get a piece like that near water regardless. I've worn watches with cracks like that and the only issue is cosmetic tbh, it's a tad irritating.
