It almost looks aftermarket. Mercedes Star looks lost in the grill. If the grill was smaller the star would look far better..that extra chrome bar on the top of the the star could do with removing
The first thing John says is how Mercedes does not follow trends but then we see them following the trend of huge obnoxious grills and cheap fake looking LCD instrument panels and infuriating touch sensitive steering wheel controls.
The impressions for braking performance are enough to turn my stomach. Non-AMG’s seem to be struggling, even if the numbers are competent. I keep seeing a clip of an EQS lighting the brakes on fire on social media.
Seems like I am a dying breed. 85% of vehicles here in Scottsdale Arizona are SUVs or electric cars. I guess it's what people want. Happy to say a few of my young neighbors have new Ferrari's !
I like the GLS but I'm ready for Mercedes to implement Digital Key functionality within it's model range. Brands like BMW, Lincoln, Genesis and even Hyundai have had this feature for years. Also, with a vehicle this heavy, not sure why the GLS doesn't have 4 piston front calipers vs the dual floating caliper setup it has. That would probably have enhanced the braking feel mentioned in the review.
Mercedes-Benz S Class vehicles lack the style of the E or C class. The overstretched lines don't mesh well visually. Give me a GLE AMG. It's definitely more visually appealing.
Not following trends, huh? Mmm hmm..... except for the pointless flat-spot steering wheel, the amoeba-shaped rank-and-file tail lights, the 100% unnecessary fake "brake duct" vents......
@@mwinner101Nah, there needs to be room for a middle ground (as with most issues). I will keep driving ICE cars, but I do care about getting one that's not AS detrimental to its environment.
21.7 MPG on premium gasoline is not "GOOD," it's DREADFUL. The pollution is dreadful. No wonder everyone is going electric. What was America's best-selling car in 2023? Tesla Model Y. Tesla do not exist in Motorweek's world. When are they going to review ANY Tesla 🤣🤑🤑🤑🤢🤢🤮🤮

Nice review for such a brief format. Glad this gentleman is still at it.
A living room on wheels 🛞. High-end and powerful.
The front end looks like it would belong on a Benz from 2004. Must be a retro inspired design. ;)
I thought that, the grill is way to large
Good eye. Not that it's a bad thing.
@@Andrew-zv4fmi remember seeing a first gen GL in a car magazine in the early 2000s, i thought it looked intimidating and awesome, this is nostalgic
Really enjoyed this video. Good information provided in a condensed manner. I appreciate it!
I think we can only own vehicles now only if they are still under warranty!
At this high price I want to see luxury ... Chrome , glossy wood , air ride suspension , V-12 power . Great review
I know. A turbo 6 is crap. Optional V8
Pshhhhh whatever
John, the 2nd row comes standard with 2 USB C inputs.
My brother and sister in-law have this car. (The 6 cylinder version) and they enjoy it.
Very nice that's almost as fast as accord 2.0t Impressive.
Still loving my 1988 Alfa Romeo Milano!
New grill makes it look a lot cheaper.
It looks like a Toyota. Gross looking
This new grill will HAVE to grow on me because 🤮

This vehicle REALLY needs to be updated with a FRESH design. ……My neighbors all have the EQS suv anyway!!!
They wasted their money.
@@Andrew-zv4fm …..my neighbors are all richer than god….they don’t CARE about what an EQS suv Mercedes costs!! 🤔🤷🏼♂️
What happened to his voice during the Fuel economy readings?
I heard that too. I think it was a different take.
That steering wheel just cancelled my test drive😅
Will the GLS continue into a 4th generation or not? If so, how will it stand up to the Lexus TX and BMW X7?
It needs a rework.
That squat is funny

I had the same thoughts. MW seems to be kissing butt in their reviews. Mercedes has stopped setting trends for the last several years.
John is reading a script sent to him by Mercedes for $$$. This is not journalism

Car companies sells SUVs becasue they cost more, have higher margins and the CAFE loophole allow them to use less expensive non-hybrid drivetrains.
Don’t be apart of the Truck & SUV craze believe in gravity/calories unlike these soulless creatures

So you want a big expensive key
SHHHHH, adults talking....Digital key means no key...@@Andrew-zv4fm
What I will say is this starts at $110k CDN and doesn’t even come with real leather standard. I think that’s unacceptable.
I'm a single guy with a small pet, rarely have passengers, don't tow anything. Can I still drive a big 3-row SUV?
John Davis refuses to die.
If it didn't have a Mercedes badge, you would think it was a Toyota, you need to start making it look more like a Mercedes-Benz is supposed to look.
BMW X7 for me
A “faux” skid plate. Lololol
Dated. And the grill is hideous.
Nice but the GLE 450 is a little smaller for a couple without children.
Very poor front grill design. Looks cartoonish.

Awesome review, as always, but no one cares about barrels of oil or the CO2 footprint.
right.. they want you to believe that everyone does but in reality no one gives 2 chits about it.
I agree, I could not care less about that stuff.
Are you kidding? Intelligent people who recognize the planet is a lot more important than driving experience do
@@tct1668 Sure. If that’s the case, you should be riding a bike or walking. You shouldn’t be paying attention to these evil ICE vehicles anyway.

Ugly brown interior. Why these suv have grab handles in the console? Who goes off-road in this?
