During the 50's and 60's Two things all actors had - smoking and booze. Everyone smoked and booze was cheap and everybody had an open bar at their home and at the Hollywood parties - Booze was there by the cases for non-stop drinking. Late 60's - drugs were creeping onto the scene - then you had all 3 . All actors were under so much stress - booze was a way to unwind (everyday) and a bit of escape. So many actors aged prematurly due to their drinking and their populariety started falling FAST - booze weathered their once good looks.
