I've had this phenomenon occur multiple times to me. A song will just lay dormant in my mind until I realize that I do infact love it. You worded it so perfectly, I wonder if you feel as lost as I do why this happens? Its like i wasn't ready but i am now and now I see everything in this song is like me.
