    I've been using Testo products for years , mainly because we don't have Fieldpiece readily available here and we're neighbouring Germany ( Testo is a german brand ) .
    From what I understand , Testo kinda went the Fluke route , in that they seem to focus a lot on the RnD , they focus mainly on the internals and the accuracy of the sensors , but they kinda cheap out on the externals , the packaging and the accessories just like Fluke does .
    Still I like their probes , they seem to be pretty accurate and the 2nd gen have improved Bluetooth range .
    My employer provides us with the 557 manifolds , they're pretty good to be fair , but I don't like manifolds anyway so I mainly use the probes .
    The one product I would really really wanna have is the vaccum gauge the 552i .
    Hvac overtime wohoooo 🥳

    Would anyone help me? I have found testo 557s kit for sale temp clamp probes x2 and vacuum gauge included.. It's not new, said it's 6 months old and working perfectly... Price is pretty good only 250e but it's second hand.. Should I buy it or there is something that i could not check on inspection

    I have the 550s. My issue is that I put my gauges on the evacuation setting and set my targets but no microns are shown on the top right when pulling a vacuum. I placed my navac micron gauge on a port to see if the vacuum is dropping and it does just dosnt want to show on my graph screen. Do I need to have a testo micron gauge connected to my 550s in order for the countdown to begin on my manifold?

      Me too!!! And man are they small. But they really do serve more than that. I use the Job Link for distance. But I use the testo for IAQ. Testo has the market cornered on IAQ and air flow. Fieldpiece cant compete on that front. In another ten years, if Fieldpiece dont keep their lead w/things like distance w/connectivity and ease of use, theyre gonna get swallowed up by testo.

Like rite now for instance, I'm scouring the internet searching for how to change the measuring values=changing C to F and MBAR to PSI etc. It's not as simple as it would be on Job Link. I really do love the new vibe kindof thing with Testo. They just feel so much different from Fielspiece, and I like that. It feels like an all together different/new tool, if that makes any sense. When they do things like catching up to Fieldpiece on connectivity, and simplify a few other minor things, look out Fieldpiece... oh, and come out with a replacement for the 770-3. Then they'll be a force...

      Digi's are nice, no doubt. BUT, I've never got'n rid of my analogs tho. One area that I've always turned away from the digi's is pump downs. I'll never use a set of digi's to pump a system down. To me, theyre just not responsive enough for that. I also dont put digi's on alot of R-22 systems, or any system thats been converted. I'm just now getting to where i'll use digi's on tune ups. If you're like me, and been doing this your entire adult life and have got'n set into your ways... or maybe the right way to say that is, you've done it one way so long itslike breathing. Then all of a sudden you're now doing it in a COMPLETELY different way. Shoot man, it's taken me 5-6 MONTHS to get to a point where I can deploy the kit and keep it w/in a decent time frame... seriously bro, the first tune up I took the Fieldpiece SMAN480v's on a spring tune, lol i was on that call for well over an hour. Just trying to get the hang of it. I'd do it all wrong, then have to redo the entire thing, reset everything and start over. I think every tech should go in that direction eventually. It'll help a somewhat seasoned tech 3-5 year tech, but there is a massive learning curve. And it's gonna take some time to get your approach down.

  • @undefined7463
    @undefined7463 3 года назад +2

    That micron probe seems very nice. I’m using the manifold probes currently and they are great. Have nearly the whole suite of them in my backpack next to my most used tools. The app is annoying, I feel like it slows me down, connecting each item, but the app does have a crap load of functionality and makes anything you do look professional. I have the big micron gauge that has bluetooth added to it and it’s nice, but to have a probe and have that in my bag for quickly checking recovery tanks, pump(s), and whatnot seems convenient. More research is needed on my end but either of those manifolds to me looks like a very, very, solid replacement of my titan and classic yellow jacket gauge sets.
    Watch that car review guy reviewing Lamborghini’s, his reviews on those are funny.

    • @hvaciqguy2655
      @hvaciqguy2655 3 года назад

      Do this bro, because that was my exact problem too. It slowed me down WAY too much. So I took it all home (I got Fieldpiece and Testo at pretty much the same time) so I took them home and worked and worked and worked with them. I FINALLY figured it out enough where I could start building my approach to service with them. If you put them thru the riggers at work while your boss is snarling at ya, youre gonna be turned against them. I wouldn't do that to myself. Also, I never completely retired my analogs. I don't use digi's for pump downs and a few other things. Digi's (in my mind anyways) aren't responsive enough for that.

      No way bro, get the manifold. I like the sh!t out of this dude. Got a metric ton of respect for him, but there are TONS of points that he didn't mention. And I'd bet a thousand dollars, he'd say something different if he knew more about them. The problem he was having with the 605i (psychrometer) was because the 605i will automatically connect. but they will only connect to one app or source or whatever... so, if he would've just shut down the app BEFORE turning on the probes, the probes would've automatically connected to the manifold. Its something awesome bro, it really is. Us Americans aren't wired the same way the Germans are I guess, because alot of their stuff just don't make alot of sense to us, myself included... but I can tell ya this, Testo aint nothing like Fieldpiece. Fieldpiece is nice and easy to figure out. But Testo does do some stuff Fieldpiece doesn't do. You should read my comments at the top... Good day sir!!!

      I have the 870 yellow jacket manifold, those gauges just came out dude. I dig them I mean I rarely use them but the battery life is good I like the touch screen. They are pretty durable and water rated. I dig the leak test on it, I haven’t tried the vacuum cause I don’t run vacuum through manifolds. I feel like if you’re gonna be setting up and adding sensors to the whole system, going with the smart probes pressure transducers are your best bet. Who now and days is hooking up with gauges just to check system performance unless your old school but even so slap a stubby on it. I literally only use a manifold when I want to throttle charge and look at the site glass most of the time I just use a valve T on the smart probes and a single hose. Now if all the probes were Able to work with the 550s I like that idea some guys maybe like having a manifold and being able to link up to everything else and see stuff on the screen or via phone or tablet. To me I like the option of doing both. I feel like testo is playing catch up with these other than the 550i. I think more and more guys are going smart probe or joblink probes and going away from using a manifold and having to carry it around with hoses. The probes fit in a tool bag a manifold set doesn’t.
    Micron gauge. Nothin has been effective and accurate like the bluvac we all seen the videos and the testing the proof is there. I have a micro that I got like 6 years ago still working flawlessly, I have the Bluetooth micro+ and the old pro gauge. Maintenance and calibration these things will last forever. Accutools has good customer service as well so far for me.

      I (chris) agree bud it really seems like these new manifolds are to late to the game, the probes are the way to go in my opinion...

    When the testo probes came out I had to have them. I was very disappointed in the range and how fast it connected to the app. Then they come out with the second gen with better range. I try to see if I could send mine in to have them upgrade them. Guess what no one responds to my request. I didn't care for the way the app looked. I have to say after watching the video I am not impressed with these either.

    That 550i manifold has got to be the silliest thing I've ever seen.
