For the very first derailment you could probably half the camera speed and add some effects, and you've essentially got the beauty of practical effects. That's why things like the BTTF steam engine taking a swan dive off the bridge looked so realistic. Slowing down the speed makes it look like the weight and inertia involved with a full sized piece of equipment.
Videos (and personal experiences like this) are why I'm switching all my rolling stock (With the exception of Scaletrains rivet counter equipment) to Kadee 158 scale head couplers! Also, your cat seems to like the taste of Model trains, lol!
He definently enjoys messing with the trains when I've got them out! I've swapped a good amount of fleet over to Kadee, providing its something I run often or will photo a good bit.
Nothing like a few mishaps here and there. I had a caboose derail inside a tunnel right before the mouth a week ago, thought I lost it for good but it turns out it was just flipped onto its side over both mains. Thank goodness it wasn’t a running session!
Me and my family had an HO scale model train set. Pretty small compared to most other sets but we had put much time and effort into it. We had only about 3 mismatched engines and a few cars but we still had fun with it. Sadly, it all burned up when the building it was in caught fire during a forest fire. We have nothing left to remember it by...
You have to much fun with these videos haha Great video the tanker train rolling away was my favorite and most realistic It was also going so fast I’m surprised it didn’t jump the track
This is funny but what would had made it funnier at least imo would be adding the ohh no sound bite like the old "I love you train" videos used to do lol
It's always okay to share some outtakes! As long as you get what you wanted to begin with, these are perfect for fun or to show what goes into getting said shots.
I looked away for just a min mind you, I thought a snake 🐍 slithered onto the set.. that is one long trail of train cars... Bro' really went in on this... 💯💯

When the Kool Aid engine was about to hit the other engine, I just imagined hearing the Family Guy characters saying 'Oh no, oh no, oh yeah' upon impact.
If these videos continue, I have a good sound effect you can use for when a brake hose snaps the cars off the train or when two engines hit each other: The buffer slam sound from Thomas XD
At some point, it might be worth considering leveling the track. No, wait....I meant leveling the layout. As in tearing it down and starting all over with proper benchwork, let alone proper trackwork. I mean, with the current layout you can post a sign reading "No derailments in the last ----- minutes" and "We're PROUD of our safety record!" YIKES!! Norfolk Southern called me; they say you're giving railroading a bad name!
0:35 Anyone else think it would have been better to have the two diesels run elephant style, instead of constantly stopping the SD40-2 to let the SD40T-2 catch up?
I don't know why, but most of the filmed train accidents are on American trains ... Now even with model railways. Well, they're doing something wrong. I threw myself away laughing .
The shot at 1:56 only had the three units up front, most of the train weight was still behind it in the hump, thus why it didn't fly away like the scene after. They held rail thankfully!
@@SCL3618 in the shot after it also got slown down a little by the engine on the back. I think if that engine wasn't there the cars would reach a much higher speed.

Have you found the couplers on the B36 to be quite high? funny and good video
A little high, but nothing bad when track is level. This incline was a stretch.
For couplings I would definitely use Smith’s Three links
