This is a good demonstration of why tank engines are used for shunting. Tender engines don't much like going backwards, especially over points. Meanwhile, tank engines are perfectly happy going in either direction.

This is the story of the passenger train disaster of 2021
On may 11,2021 after a particularly heavy thunderstorm hit the local train station,a passenger train consisting of 4 coaches and 1 tender engine was set to be off by 11 in the morning,by 11:15 the train was out of the station heading to the next station about 25 miles up ahead, the rain had made many sections of the track rather slippery so the ride was more bumpy than it usually was, however things took a dark turn.halfway through the journey, trains would encounter a downward hill with 1.2 grad and the speed limit for said hill was atleast 30 miles or lower,to make things even more difficult there was a rather sharp bend at the end of said hill,as the train was heading down the hill it applied its dynamic breaks to slow down, but despite that the train wouldn’t slow down,it was heading a 50 miles per hour almost half over the recommended speed limit, the heavy rain made the tracks slippery and made it more difficult for the brakes to gain any traction to stop the train, seeing the danger ahead, the engineer slammed the emergency breaks, hoping it would stop the train, but nothing could prevent the oncoming catastrophe
The train tipped off the track into the deep puddle of water taking two passenger cars with it,meanwhile the other two continued to role down the track and eventually came to a halt,
Those who were in the still upright passenger cars attempted to help those who were trapped in the watery wreckage, emergency services arrived 10 minutes later and rescued as many as the could, but despite their efforts 3 people died
It was clear that the train was going over the speed limit but it was determined the cause of the accident was the rain causing the tracks to become to slippery for the wheels to use properly
If I make newspapaers im using dis too help
@@kristlkirk2847 feel free to use this if it helps
Good story overall, but couldn’t the engineer attempt to jump to jump out of the locomotive before the impact, as the land is pretty soft next to the tracks in the video?
LOL
Excellent story; looks like you're very well trained. Cheers!
2:00 That engineers skill at reversing derails is pretty boss.

I can’t tell if the storm at the start was scary, or relaxing.

The fact that the locomotive derails multiple times at a set of points is just hillarious
the loco driver didnt learn a thing... if he would have been driving slower, all the carriages and the loco possibly would have made it over the points...
yes it's a switch so ya gotta go slow but he should learn to go slow on turns near water
Ye it's funny alright
problem is with coal carrier not engine

God give us a great life!
It took me about 15 seconds to realize the opening was a model. The "gravel" was too coarse and the "rain drops" were too big. But, damn, that was a great opening to the video.
Back in the early seventies we visited friends in Washington state and they took us for a ride on their narrow gauge railroad. It went pretty fast and over a 10 foot high trestle they had built and when it crossed the driveway the RR crossarms with flashing red lights activated. Memorable.
@@rrt5425 Yeah, even older. Around 1947 I traveled from San Diego to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on a train. It was pulled by a steam engine (maybe more than one). Train stations were pretty impressive before air travel became common. You can probably see videos of the San Diego station on youtube.
Awesome cinematography, fantastic training. Hopefully no trains were harmed in the making of this production. Cheers!
A few things from the video: 1) There should be more running trains during the rain at dark, 2) I'd think the train shed would be pretty dry 3) Really enjoy the videos, keep up the good work!!!
I think this was real rain. He could have used mist (a garden hose attacked to a diffuser would work) which would look more realistic.
this video randomly popped up on my homepage, and it took me atleast half the video to realize these are model trains; SOLID WORK!

Lesson 1 (For Railroad Companies): This is why you should put up barriers on tight curves near ledges or slopes.
Lesson 2 (For Locomotive Engineers): This is why you should slow down and take caution when taking tight curves.
Train can break the barriers on the big speed
0:32 Headphones warning!
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Too late 😑
Photography is professional quality , lighting and angles are perfect . What was the conclusion of the investigation into the crash of the century . Track work is absolutely beautiful . The railroad does seem to be plagued by loose cannons that think they are engineers .
They need to start drug testing their employees :)

Continuity is a bit iffy -- I'm sure that Pennsylvania Railroad locomotive is hauling a consist of German narrow gauge cars.
The engine was sent to the scrapyard to be destroyed as it was beyond repair

"Pennsylvania Railroad No. 9670 was recently restored after a bridge was blown up by criminals trying to loot its train. It was set to pull a passenger train on May 11th 2021. While pulling into the station, the tender derailed on a switch but was quickly rerailed In Time for the train. The train left on time at 11:30 AM. The trip was mostly uneventful until a set of rails, weakened by a storm the previous night, caused the Locomotive and 2 coaches to fall into a river. 2 coaches remained on the rails and kept rolling about a quarter mile. 11 dead and 42 injured. A statement from the driver of the locomotive, Jim Westley: "We were about 35 MPH, the speed limit for that section of track. Everything was fine until Mark and I felt the engine tilt to the right. We tried putting on the brakes, but by then the driving wheels on the left side were off the rails, and then we fell in." First responders arrived the the scene along with NWR No. 1, "Thomas”, with a crane to get the locomotive and the coaches out of the water. Locomotive is currently awaiting repairs.``

Yo, the rain aesthetic is amazing btw. Had me listening to noir jazz right after :)
Dynamite video! Right away, i put myself into the role of railroad accident investigator. As far as i can see, either the coal car was damaged in the previous derailments at the depot or somebody needs to put more weight onto that coal car so the passenger cars won't push it past the engine again as they did. The coal car lifted off the track, causing the accident.
Again, nice video from beginning to end. I had fun.
