The fan is making that buzzing noise because the motor windings are starting to vibrate. This happens because the varnish is aging. Reapplying varnish to the motor windings will quiet it down but this means taking the entire thing apart. This is pretty common on these depression era Westinghouse fans. I have had a few do that in the past. Oiling it will benefit the fan but will not get rid of that buzzing sound.
That sounds like a good idea. I didn't think it was the noise of the motor because the pitch didn't change as the fan got up to speed.
Yes, I believe you are correct about the windings. Because it sounds like a 60 hz buzz. As soon as it is plugged in, the buzz starts the buzz is immediate. If it was the armature the sound would chang as it starts or slips down. Correct diagnosises. Sir
Been collecting WW2 Militaria for years now. Easiest way to check these patches is with a black light. The originals won’t glow, but the synthetic materials in the repops will.
According to a 1944 newspaper article the girl in the war poster was Celeste Gheen a professional model. She was born about 1915 but was living in New York, New York in the 1940's.
Mr. Pete im a vintage electronics & game collector and steamer & have lots of PC equipment, games, etc and the most valuable part on most things is the cord connection. I noticed when you plug things in you place the cord under the item, which both tugs & crushes the cord. This overtime gets the item to not work. I have 1990s items but you have older items that may be not as strong. Just beware of the cord, blessings
The ball bearing in the brass socket in the back of the fan motor is in fact for oiling the bearing.. one could push the tip of an oil can into the bearing which as a spring behind it and get a squirt in. I see that there is one on the front (fan side) bearing as well. I could see that the motor needs some lubrication by how it was acting when you turned the blade by hand. It should spin a bit.
Give both bearings a squirt of light machine oil like 3 in 1 , sewing machine oil, or something similar.
On the skateboard guitar you won't get $400. My guess as a guitar collector that if you're lucky you'll get back out of it what you paid for it. It's just that it doesn't have any collectable value at all, and it's sale as you mentioned will rely on someone thinking it's cool and if it plays and sounds good.
I agree on the guitar, maybe $100 for the novelty factor. To bad the neck wasn't also hand mad. The cheap Squire neck is what looses my interest.
@@VintageReplay No shit the neck want hand made, you know how expnsive thii would be? lmao
I would take a wellsetup squier neck over a dubious handmade neck any day of the week!
yup 100%
@@joeambly6807 That's good because you can buy a Squire for under a $100. I'm not talking about how well it plays, we are talking resale value. I can show you vintage guitars that play like shit that are worth thousands. Ill take a Halo custom hand made neck any day.
Wilmaaaaaaaaaaaaaa😂
Gotta be careful who you hire for an estate sale. Lots of scammers overprice things and then tell the owner “I’ll take $500 from you to clear everything out” then they sell it in their “stores” or bring it to places like Pete’s. There’s one in the area that r extreme scammers
Pete is now one of my daily driver RUclips channels to watch while eating. IYKYK.. just gotta have that entertainment. 😅 + I can say I've actually learned some things watching this channel - Ecommerce tips, professionalism, dealing with all sorts of people. Great stuff.
Same.
For all its negative aspects the internet is still a wonderful thing. The fact that I live in London and not only regularly watch but excitedly wait in anticipation for new videos of transactions from a resell store in Illinois is pretty phenomenal.😆
@@Enoch_Owl hahaha I love it
WOW! Nice KISS poster! That should go fast!
Pete you did a video a week or so ago talking about your operating expense. You forgot to include the maintenance cost of your guard animals.
Use light oil, like mineral oil or ThreeInOne Oil on that fan. The fan motor may also have bushings that can be replaced.
Regarding the typewriter, I saw you had a similar problem in another video. Make sure that you have the margins set properly because they are what stop the carriage from moving.
I made a lot of money typing Pete and I started out on an old "manual" like this.
That KISS POSTER IS SWEET PETER...
I USE TO HAVE THE SAME 1 IN MY BEDROOM AS A KID BACK IN THE LATE 70s EARLY 80s...
WISHING I STILL HAD IT...
GREAT FIND!!!
🤘🤘🤘...
PRESIDENT!!!
That Poster "Wanted for murder" is beautiful --wonder who is that lady on the picture. probably 150-200$. Maybe more
President, I want some White House M&M’s please… 😂❤😊 Love you’re show, it helps me fall asleep watching you negotiate with these people…
10:15 I about hit my REM cycle just listening to that, LOL!
lol the WANTED FOR MURDER poster.. it’s obvious to me that the attitude at the time was that women’s gossip was a legitimate national security concern. The fear that chatty wives of military personnel would be a reason that closed door secrets would reach the enemy. “loose lips sink ships!”
Another great video as always. I'm retired army, those Military patch displays cost a pretty penny, all army divisions run for $200 - $300 w/frame. The TANK division patches (triangles) w/frame goes for $350- 400. President
President. Those WWII posters are amazing! Might well be worth framing them up if you plan to sell in store, or keep folded for Ebay sale.
Been watching Pete for years. Honestly such a good businessman and amazing character. Humble as they come
Is grovelling & ass licking a hobby or a full time thing ? 🙄
Definitely. Especially considering the business he is in where it is even rarer to come across decent, fair human beings.
Yes, he seems very ethical.
@@CanuckTony lol!
That skateboard guitar is super cool! I just released a skatboarding track this month!! I am tempted!! haha
Keep making these videos Peter cause we like em! Kinda wondering what the patches will bring, hope very profitable! God's Blessings on you and your business!
Title
Wanted! for murder: her careless talk cost lives
Description
This World War II era poster features a woman posed in a traditional Wanted! advertisement meant to help the public search for a criminal. It is meant to illustrate a point that American citizens should be careful about sharing information about the location of soldiers and more during the war. This copy of the poster was distributed by the Office of War Information to the "Tennessee Library Division" in Nashville. A note on the reverse of this poster identifies the creator, Victor Kepper, and concludes with a statement "The prominent display of this poster will be appreciated."

Love your show Thanks Donnie G.
Hey Pete thanks for the entertainment you provide us. Good luck with all your future ventures!
In 2001 my grandmother gave two packs of cigarettes from Air Force One, presidential seal on them, still sealed. My uncle was a pilot way back when. No idea how old they were. Yep, I smoked them. They were sooo stale and seeing those M&Ms made me kick myself all over again. Still kinda neat to smoke presidential cigarettes. Great episode as usual!
President. The patches in those frames sell very well on their own. The age of the patches is not such a big issue. You are looking at easily $250+ for each of those framed items. Very nice indeed! :-)
That custom guitar is so cool looking. Made out of skateboards and real guitar guts, nah that’s cool as hell
Gr8 video Pete.. That's a very cool showcase collection of military patches and the fact that they're professionally framed is nice..😮 Love the WW2 War Propaganda Posters these are really sought after collectable's..🤔😍😉 Take care guys.. President..👍💕🔥👊
President , MNMS I had no idea . What a cool piece. I would absolutely love to come visit your store Peter , to see all the cool things . Perhaps one day , from British Columbia Canada.
500-600 is a crazy figure for 100 reproduction patches. I have two totes of them. I tried to sell them at the swapmeet for $2 each - and I quit taking them because I was only selling 2 or 3 per trip. Maybe someday they can be all yours Pete.
Guitar has a gibson bridge, Seymore Duncan Pick ups, and a Strat output jack, flipped inside out. Dunno about the knobs, the paint is modeled after Eddie Van Halen's famous guitar.
Thats a pretty cool find
You beat me to it. The Seymour Duncan pickup is probably worth more than the rest of the guitar.
@@artiehall7708 Yesh esp now considering how damn over priced they've become. It comes down to this for me , "Do I really need a 200 dollar pick up, or do i want to order another really nice Firefly guitar for the same price" I usually go with the guitar. Firefly makes AMAZING guitars right now cheap dude. No bs, no shill. If interested let me know and Ill give you more info. Yeah theyre china made, but made by an actual factory after hours, roasted woods, locking tuners, nice finishes
ryan is such an integral part of the business, id almost bring him in as a partner
That's why you don't own your own business.
@@orvil9223 lmao I know right😂😂😂 bring a random employee in as a partner of your whole company lol smh what an idiotic comment
What you smoking bro? In Ryan wants in as a partner he has to buy and invest in the business lol
🙄oh geez.
You kids think the first time you actually work a 40 hour week, you get to own the business?
Grow up.
Not how that works. Takes money to make money. He's got some sweat equity that's for sure
President...amazing how the bids came in for the Walton’s memorabilia in the final seconds...exciting stuff Pete👏🏻
I knew they were worth more than $20 that you gave me congratulations on the Walton photos!!!
Hope he makes it right!
@@sbroussard2878 What do you mean "make it right"? They made a deal and did the transaction. End of transaction.
That's how you buy and sell used items. if the seller felt it wasn't a good price, then he should have turned it down. Those are the risks that Pete takes when he buys stuff - what if they didn't get more than a dollar for them? Would this guy "make it right"?
It's almost like you guys don't hear anything that goes on when you watch these videos.
President - Loved the vid and really loved seeing the posters, those are so cool.
Peter is my go to guy for a honest transaction. His business skills are to be admired and he’s fair and straightforward. But he still won’t sell me honey tho 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Luv his beautiful cat 🤪
Your cat reminds me of one of those fluffy caterpillars...Great show.
Pete measure the kiss poster It looks to be from 2005 and is online for as low as $30 . You have to be careful with Kiss stuff, the real money is 70s Aucoin items.
There's the same one online from 1976 and it's only listed for $40.
I'll take that 66th Div. patch and that fans back has a oil hole for shaft back.
President. I love seeing all the interesting items that come into your shop.
Yes on the oil!! For sure that's a lubrication spot and that will lubricate the bushings!! And probably fix the noise...
In the early days of ebay there was no auto update so you had to refresh the page. You could do it about 5 or 6 times in the last 30 seconds. Sometimes it would go crazy like yours Peter, other times nothing.. Thats one of the fun parts of reselling..
president.... let's go love the channel and everything about it. wish I could visit the shop somedag
Hey Pete, love your channel. I picked up a wartime poster on paperboard at an Americana auction 5-6 years ago, a little rough, but I thought it was neat. Uncle Sam on poster with text “PSST! Silence -the enemy is listening! CARELESS TALK IS DYNAMITE”. Would post a pic here but apparently can’t do that in comments.
Also here’s an entry for the President M&M’s.
President!
That skateboard guitar is so cool! Some people have great talent.
President - Man, those are soo cool!! Man, what a shocker for that picture lot! Congrats! Love when that happens!
I remember they used to sell those posters at Newbury comics and Spencer's gifts 20 years ago
President
Hey I finally won a giveaway baby! Thanks for the continued information of the resale world!
On the Westinghouse fan. It slowed fast when you cut it off. I would be careful and pry the cap off and put a few drops of 3-in-1 20weight electric motor oil in it.
President. Great posters, and a cool guitar, Good one Pete.👍
Yes oil the fan it will help a bit with noise also a little oil goes long way take it easy with lube
Yes that is the spot where you oil the fan press the ball in and add light good quality oil there should be an oil spot on both sides .
The downside of selling the framed patches, is how much room they take up for the low amount of potential dollars they might bring in. Hope they sell fast for you. Another good video. Cheers!
President Great to see your ebay auction shot up like that. I always love when that happens!
That’s exactly what that little port is for Peter. That buzzing isn’t anything to worry about it sounds like the brushes may be wearing out. 👍🇨🇦
Pete your a class act asking people if they want to be filmed
Been watching your videos for a long time now, but was pretty disappointed that I didn't get a reply to my email trying to help you out with the phone charging cords.
I want to send my love to everyone at the trading post especially Ruby she is a sweetheart and her scream melts my heart ❤
Such cool posters in this video, from the KISS to the Old 1944 posters. Awesome content. President M&Ms 👍
you can use sewing machine oil for the fan in the bearing
Every time I see a new video from you, it's an absolute delight. President
Love watching your videos! It's amazing some of the stuff that people bring in. Love that KISS poster. All those old posters are great. Have a great day.❤
So happy you got those last bids!!! You are the reselling president!!!
So the noise on the fan is worn bushings, which is actually about right you can clean them sometimes and fix the noise!! As far as replacing not so sure because that's pretty old!!
President
I would love to have this
Thanks Peter for your teaching
Any buzz from mains appliences is normally vibration on the windings of a transformer/motor or the laminations of the same. As the ac changes direction it makes them move and produce a buzz. Laquer is normally what holds them all together and applying a little in the right areas should effectivly 'glue' them back together.
President. Thanks for all your awesome videos!
President Pete your videos always make my day. possibility I may be coming your way in September, hope to see your shop. Driving from New jersey on vacation.
I enjoy watching your videos. I Learn something every time.
Love watching beautiful Honey walking around the shop. 😻🥰 Have you thought about putting a small kitty cam on her??📷🎬 president
Good morning Pete and Ryan and to the rest of the A-Team. I was wondering want was the name of the music at the start and ending of this video. I watch your videos all the time. I know some are a bit older videos but still lots of good honest fun and great to watch. If you could name the tune that would be great. Thank you to all
PRESIDENT!!!
Would love those M&Ms! Cool piece!
The old fan may have an oil ‘fitting’ to service the front bearing also. I have seen that spring~loaded ‘ball bearing’ even on a pencil sharpener.! Depress the ball and shoot a couple drops of Miracle Oil through a fit….js
The carbon brushes need changed and polish the armature. The bearing that trying to get oiled is likely just a sleeve piece of brass, which is the chef could be rattling inside of it because it’s worn
President been watching for 4 years love this channel and all your content.
President.
Great video again Pete and Co! It’s always awesome to see your daily negotiations

That fan has a blown friction circuit...damn it jim i"m a doctor not a fan mechanic!!!
the fan had a felt/spacer washer that held the oil - to check the felt/washer pull the fan blade in and out to check for play (they dry out if not oiled over time) it needs replacement, take the electric motor apart and replace then it will run perfect again

It's kind of interesting that it was aimed at women. I guess they were the ones gossiping the most. heh.
President. Pete and staff, loyal viewer love your store and all the videos you post. Thanks and be well.
I believe that's where you put a drop of oil. It would make sense. I bet clipper oil would work perfect.
President - It's cool to see your auctions jump at the last minute...especially when it's more the $100!
My great grandpa was an airborne medic in WW2 and my grandpa was a pilot/ship captain in Vietnam. I've got tons of matches and pins from my grandpa and I absolutely love that stuff. I've even got letters to him from the President
Open the tab on the back of the fan, and add about 3 to 5 drops ofn machine oil, it will quiet down that bearing.
Has the be one of the most genuine resellers in the world!
Yes , sewing machine oil ......for the fan .
President. Always enjoy watching your videos 👍and I looove Honey! 😸
Wow, that bid at the end! Left you speechless for a second hah. President
A lot of authentic WWII patches usually don't have borders around them. I think it's 80/20 80% repo 20% authentic WWII. I would take the fan to an alternator repair shop to see if they can diagnose the issue. Yes that's an oil lubrication point and 3 drops is all you need.
The WWII poster was to make sure people weren't talking about the projects they were working on since a lot of women were employed in the war factory's.
President Great watching u always!
How funny foe them to be specially packaged. Also Pete if you could do an update on the patches in a future update.
President! I want the M&M!!! Really enjoy your videos Pete! Thanks man!
Pete-I could see you sizing the guy up looking for a tell to see what he would take for the patch displays. You were watching his body language, as was I.
Yes that is a lubricant insearth the Bearings art or need to be loop
Love this channel just really sucks ive emailed so many times with NO RESPONSE BACK . i asked for price on a item.
Peter, yes, that is to oil the bushing.
Another great video as always. Those posters are in great shape! President
Two red/gold patches at 2:33, are of the 45th Infantry Division (Thunderbird), representing Oklahoma, Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico National Guard, pre-war and wartime as seller said.
President that wánted poster was for a person like Tokyo Rose who broadcast false information from the Japanese and there was one from the Germans.
What a great poster !! I hope you get it preserved
yes u can put oil in there bast thing to do is use lithium grease
That poster is really neat. It's not Bonnie from Bonnie and Clyde is it? That would be so cool.
Been watching your videos for years love your content 👍 President..
Presidential m&m's...love it❤❤❤
Great videos btw!#!🎉
