It's nice to refer to the backing band/producers but she is a solo artist, at the end of the day. I don't think they were being rude it's just a lot of people do assume CATQ is a band because of the name. By that rule, you'd have to refer to every artist as plural.

It's interesting how we moved away from the industry having lots of artists releasing their own takes on songs (like the jazz/blues/folk standards, and the Great American Songbook, etc) so we got to hear more interpretations of pieces. Instead we've moved much more into focusing on singer-songwriters and associating songs with individual artists, which I think is kinda a shame, maybe we're missing out on a lot of fun/inspiration opportunities

Wow! Whether you like the cover or not, you can't deny that this is absolutely what a cover SHOULD be! She performed the same song Beyonce did, but the two songs don't sound even remotely alike, you wouldn't even be able to identify it if you weren't listening to the lyrics! Because she performed it entirely in her own style! This isn't just singing someone else's work, a copy and paste, this is creating a whole new work from the seed of someone else's idea. There was thought and creativity and vision behind this cover and whether you love it or not, you absolutely respect and appreciate it!

Oh hey I was there haha but only for CATQ. I left when Marina went on, maybe after 3 songs. I was very dehrydated but didn't realize it at the time having traveled to Vancouver to see CATQ. Thought I was just hungry but couldn't afford the food at the venue and they said they would not let people back in if they left. Deeply regretted not knowing and wishing I had just drank water and stayed standing to stay awake or went deeper into debt and bought the least expensive item on their menu. No offense. You are obviously a fan of Marina.

I had to lie, and say I'm not feeling good, I need to get some fresh air" to get the way to the exit free..Some months later. CATQ was there again as the star of the scene.....and me too....
