I'm really glad that at the end of this month "Empire of silence" will be published in italian. I've enjoyed the first three in english but it will be much easier re-read them in my language. thank you.

I love the series. But I feel like there was huge missed opportunity to never have a Hadrian / Allistar / Crispin reunion scene. I’ve been wanting that since EoS. Seems like at least Selene or Crispin could have been at Forum for the deliberations in this book.
I really hope the Egg's shell comes into larger play in Shadows Upon Time. Seems like a huge missed opportunity.

If you happen to see this message (IIRC, I think you said Mrs. Ruocchio handles your social media right, so maybe if she sees and can relay this over) I had a question:
Is Catholicism true in the Sun Eater universe? Wondering because I would guess that if you came up with the story today you would make it so by the final novel even if you are less explicit than C.S.Lewis in The Last Battle.
However, I believe you said you started writing before you returned to Catholicism and had the broad arc figured out already so wondering if this is not the case in this story.
I do believe you have said before that this story is one that takes place in our universe so I’m guessing “yes.”
Right now most of my theories (still embryonic in nature) revolve around Hadrian converting to Catholicism by the end.

On the EO and Catholic reunification topic, we may see something interesting quite soon with Pope Francis
It will basically be the Ecumenical Patriarchate and some folks from other local Orthodox Churches becoming united, like the Melkites or Greek Catholics.

Being Orthodox, I see it as a great tragedy. History doesn't repeat, but it does rhyme.

I think there is a common misconception on the Latin side that us Orthodox are siblings estranged by misunderstandings and historical circumstances rather than by genuine theological and spiritual differences. While I don't know if you fall into this camp, broadly referred to as ecumenism, I have responded to such questions before "loaded" with such assumptions.
You ask about "Reunification" being a tragedy, but what does "Reunification" mean exactly? I mean, obviously, us Orthodox would rejoice for the Papal Church to return to the Orthodox Faith; but after a millenia of theological divergence, how can that happen? We have to be clear, any kind of union based on anything other than the common, Orthodox Faith is just a sham for politics and "feel-goods".
So yes, that would be tragic. It appears that this likely submission of some Orthodox Christians to the Pope of Rome is just that-a sham or "feel-goods". Either way, it's not about Rome becoming Orthodox but Orthodox Christians abandoning the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church for Latin errors.
