This is when NFL Films was at the top of its game. They captured some magical moments in history throughout their existence. Who would’ve thought a little minor league football team in Pottstown, PA would be one of their best but it truly is a wonderful documentary.

      Charlie Sheen as "King" Corcoran
      Clay Matthews as Bill Stetz
      Omar Epps as John Land

This brings back so many memories of growing up in Pottstown at that time.
I can remember listening to the game reply Sunday's on WPAZ radio.

I tried, for years, to get this and the previous documentary from NFL Films with no luck. I was, however, able to get a copy of The Forgettables and have read it several times!

It was called the no cut contract episode and yes inspired by king corcoran the firebirds QB, about a minor league player, long day today forgot about that…

@@pottstownfirebirds7138 Rob Reiner??? How much did his dad Carl grease the producers to get him that role? Rob Reiner as a QB makes about as much sense as Pee Wee Herman alongside the "Hanson Brothers" in Slapshot . . .

I don't know if Jay Acton is still alive but he may want to change the title of his book to The Unforgettables because in Pottstown and many circles of Football Enthusiasts The Firebirds are anything but forgotten, In fact The second book that was written about them The Timeless Victors is proof of that.

I would of loved to party with the King in Vegas. Just one night I would of settled for the residual scally wags. Nevertheless this organization was full of characters from the top down.
