To bring that team to the NFC championship in two years has to be the biggest accomplishment in NFL history it took my team 21 years to make it to the playoffs WHO DAT !!!
METAL HEAD True. The legacy of the McKay era is 0-26, when the fact that they went to 1 win away from a Super Bowl only one full season removed the longest losing streak/WORST ever team (long before free agency) is one of the most impressive accomplishments in league history.
Big Sky Blue Of the 45 players on the 1979 Buccaneers roster that fell one game short of the Super Bowl, 23 of those players were part of those teams that went 0-26 in their first two year years of existence.

Dave D because The Seahawks played and beat the Bucs in 1976 so my comment is right about their combined record of 1-25 against “the rest” of the NFL is correct.

@6:53 lol “A happy fellow” - in other words, it was a gay Pirate. While I disagree with the colors being ugly - I totally agree that the Buccaneer was a little too “happy.”
Worst thing to happen to Tampa when they dropped Tampa U football to make room for these idiots. These people terrorized the city for years and nobody has the courage to talk about it.
The Bucs actually had a pretty good defense for the first 8 games or so. Then they got destroyed by injuries and fatigue. Their offense was probably the worst in Pro Football history. I'm talking all-time, and every professional league ever.
J.K. McKay was a starter because Isaac Hagins couldn't catch corona in Wuhan and when he did catch the ball, he usually fumbled it. End of controversy.
Truth be told that coach IS HORRIBLE. Ive been on bad teams ..so i know .... YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE IN YOUR OWN TEAM. YOU CANNOT TALK ALL THAT GARBAGE BELLY ACHING ABOUT YOUR OWN TEAM . And that guy is supposed to be thier coach ?!?! NOPE.
I think john mckay was a D level coach. Not an F, or even a D-, because he had to work with an expansion roster, that lacked talent, and the incompetent hugh culverhouse as his owner. He made it to the playoffs 3 times in a 4 year span, but yeah, when the bucs were bad, they were disgusting. Still, i don't think he's the absolute worst. Leeman Bennett, ray perkins, richard williamson, sam wyche. They were all much worse in tampa than mckay. The bucs didn't get a real coach until tony dungy, who i still think is the best coach in team history
Americans have been conditioned throughout history to think anything colorful is ugly or tacky. The original Tampa Bay uniforms were really cool, fun, and unique. .....The Bucs had too many white guys thinking they were smart and could coach football in a league of mostly black players. Still pretty much the same today in the racist NFL..
Ed Sabol and Steve Sabol R.I.P.
RIP Jim McKay.
I so enjoy NFL Films Ed /Steve always had the perfect shot and the best commentary RIP

"I'm in favour of it"
Mackey? John Mackey?
That is funny, but he likely never actually said it
Mackey is McKay's cousin, right?
Or clone..

Now Bucs are the only NFC South team with 2 Super Bowl Championships.
The funniest thing watching this was the Circuit City commercial.
Joe Gibbs was also on McVay’s staff. He was the one who got him Doug Williams
Or McKay's staff. And Williams sucked. But they called the Bucs a high school offense. So I doubt Gibbs brags about being an OC.
@@jasonpaul5 E Williams did not suck. He led the Bucs to the NFC Championship game in 1979, two years after the team was 0-26.

Jim McKay best one liner was “Well we couldn’t block but we made up for it by not tackling.”
We're one plane crash away from winning a game.
Daniel Faircloth “How do you feel about the execution of your offensive line”?

Yes true. The 1976 football season was like the 1992-93 hockey season. That hockey season had 2 teams that had 70 or more loses, Sharks and Senators

There was a McCulloch Airlines, and it was owned by the chainsaw company. Went out of business in 1978.
I loved the color scheme of the Bucs.
