@@macaullykearney6355 Nope, thankfully you still get to experience wonderful clouds in game; this just tones down some of their intensity/detail. And great question, thanks for asking!
@@MavicAir1 That’s true, these settings don’t directly impact FPS, although they do impact the perception of smoothness in the game, and can feel particularly uncomfortable for players who are playing on low FPS. Personally I hate camera shake, motion blur, etc, but to each their own, especially if it helps with your sense of immersion!
You’re very welcome! Star Citizen can be such a tough game to optimize, I felt obligated to compile this together! I’m really glad this improved your frame rate and overall smoothness! And thank you for taking the time to watch this video and share your thoughts, I really appreciate your engagement!
Holy cow- what a difference. Instant average 15fps increase across the board. You're an absolute legend. Also can I just say thanks for keeping your videos concise and not full of filler. You're clear and informative and I dig it. Cheers
This appears to be from awhile ago, I did these settings, I’ve got a 2060 amd Ryzen 7 32gb ram setup. I didn’t see what it was at before, fps wise, and I didn’t reset my pc after a few of the changes with the advanced settings, but at orison last night logging on, on the train I was at about 25/30 fps. Game was working pretty smooth. A lot less choppy. Lowest was 17 but only a few times did it hit that low. I’ll resort settings back and mess with it to see a difference and update… but visually it appears to have made my playing experience a lot better so far… hopefully with 3.19 it’ll be more optimized as well. FOV has been helpful in general didn’t think to change that. Thank you for this quick and informative video.
You're welcome, I'm glad this was helpful in at least smoothing the game out for you! I find that with SC, performance usually wins over fidelity, since the game still looks great on slightly lower graphics settings! But definitely tweak these as you best see fit!
This definitely helped me get better frames. Pulling about 45 FPS on the ground and more than 90+ in space. I almost thought for a moment my rig was still not powerful enough.
I’m so glad these changes helped you! I noticed these settings along with 3.17’s improvements really took this game’s performance to the next level! And thank you for taking the time to watch this video and share your feedback, I really appreciate your engagement!

Nice video, one question though, virtual memory step, should I set the amount for both drives(I only got two OS and game drive they both ssd) or just the drive I have StarCitizen installed in? Thanks

Great guide! I have a couple questions, for the force induced head movement, and global camera shake, is that more of a personal preference thing or did you see a performance increase from these settings. Also as far as sharpening, what is the benefit of setting this to specifically 60 rather than say 100 or 50 or 0 for example. Just found your channel and I gotta say I’m really impressed with the quality of your videos, and the amount of detailed responses in the comments. I am excited to see your channel grow on this platform in the future.
Great questions! The head movement, camera shake and sharpening are all personal preference/aesthetic improvements, although with camera shake it definitely helps with the perception of smoothness that comes with higher FPS in my opinion! And thank you so much, I’m really glad that you’ve been enjoying these videos! And I really appreciate the engagement and feedback from community members like yourself! Thanks for being awesome and supportive 😁👍!
Alco Pwp, i’m really glad you found this video helpful! Star citizen can definitely be a tricky game to get running well, but these settings definitely make it a lot easier! And thank you for taking the time to watch this and leave a comment, I really appreciate your engagement!
If you're running Nvidia and you have G-SYNC compatible monitors there's one other Control Panel setting that needs to be changed. Under 'Set up G-SYNC' the control panel defaults to 'Enable for full screen mode'. Since we're running borderless this should be changed to 'Enable for windowed and full screen mode'.
You’re very welcome, I’m glad you found this guide helpful! Star Citizen can be difficult to run on even the best hardware, but these settings really help get the most out of it! You can click add and see if SQ42 or Star Citizen appears in the list therein! But if not, this isn’t as impactful as the other setting changes, so I wouldn’t worry too much!
this video like this likely gonna be a big change on the simple thing that my virtual memory was using my HDD instead of my 2 SSDs like this probably was the single reason my game was extremely laggy
You can still follow all the same in-game settings mentioned on this guide! You just won’t be able to do the Nvidia specific ones. But those in game settings do more to improve your performance than anything else!
New Babbage, 30-45fps reaching 45 around the less crowded areas. Did this change and constantly getting around 40-55fps and sometime even touching 60fps during the train ride, 3060ti here, this works wonders :) Edit: also seems to removed micro stutters ever better+. open space is at a comfortable 60 and even sometimes 72
That’s fantastic to hear, I’m really glad that this guide was so helpful for you! And those are some significant improvements! I can only imagine how much better this game feels, especially with the reduction of those annoying micro stutters! And thank you for taking the time to share your experience and support, I really appreciate the positive engagement!
For changing your paging file size you want to go into windows > view advanced settings > (under system properties-advanced) click performance (settings) > then click advanced > then click change (under virtual memory). You shouldn’t have to click any drivers! But let me know if you encounter any issues and I’d be happy to help you troubleshoot!
What kind of Mordor-ic new devilry is this? I can actually play this game without a CTD now. Before, I couldn't even make it 20 minutes in the game anywhere near a populated area. Stayed away from New Babbage completely (I have no clue what is there really), avoided Area-18 like it was infested with Sigourney Weaver type aliens, only did Lorville to spawn and then two days to leave and make it to the space station. This is AWESOME! THANKS!!!
Malik Yah, you’re very welcome! I’m so glad you found this helpful!!! It really is like magic! Hey there. I am not sure how you got to system properties. Not sure what you clicked on or what. I found it by right clicking where my Drives are located C drive in open space then clicking properties on the left

Make sure to run the game first, but if you already did you may just have to manually add the game under those settings by searching in your folder for the application!
That’s a great question! Hi, thank you to help us, I made all settings and my game got some improvements... but still a horror low fps. For my pc with i5-8600K CPU @ 3.60GHz (6 CPUs), ~3.6GHz and 16 RAM and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 I cant play anymore, frozen frames, 1-5-24 fps or more in space. Its so weird. Maybe my CPU gen is too old? Need an upgrade? My CPU goes in 100% in game. What can I do? Upgrade my pc? CPU, more ram? Thank you !
I’m glad I could help in some ways, but I’m sorry you don’t have better performance. You should definitely be getting better frames than that, I suspect around the 30s, so I’m not sure what could be happening. What resolution are you playing at? And definitely add the paging file size if you haven’t already! Also, in-game, you can type “~” then “r_displayinfo 4” and see if what your GPU and CPU utilization is, that could help you investigate deeper!
@@ViciDeum Thank you for answer me. I play 1080 not more, sometime is good with 40 fps but from some time is stuck in frozen frames. I think my CPU sucks, too old. I think I will buy i5 13400F, what do you think.

@@ViciDeum Hello, thank you very much for the tip. I have another subject about the game but it is a bit long and would be better by e-mail. If you authorize me I can send you an e-mail. @@arypreihs1887 Apologies, I’m not currently giving out my email at this time (although that may change in the future), but feel free to send a reply herein! I’d be more than happy to help if it’s something that I can! Regarding the mouse, are you using a wired mouse or wireless? And do you notice this issue across other online games or is it just star citizen? My two first thoughts are that it could be related to latency connecting to the servers or the mouse’s hardware. With the hardware, those issues would present in other games as well as your regular pc experience. Hopefully that helps to narrow down the issue a little bit 👍
Great question! It’s in your windows > advanced system settings option! You’ll have to navigate there from your desktop, but feel free to checkout my detailed instructions in the video description for more instructions and a step-by step 😁👍
Definitely tweak these as you see fit, but ideally you shouldn't drop that much. That said, these settings sometimes need a game/pc restart to take into effect properly!
Rogelio Rendon, if you have the space I would definitely use 32000 as your paging file size! I’ve got 32Gb of DDR4 running at 4,000 with a 32000 paging file size and it’s perfect! I’ve noticed issues decreasing it below that and other content creators I’ve spoken to have encountered the same! And I really appreciate you taking this time to not only watch this video but ask that great question! And don’t hesitate to reach back out if you have any other questions or encounter any issues!
Great question, you want to put the virtual memory on whichever drive houses your operating system! By default, it will automatically select this, so you just have to change that setting and it will do the work for you! And thank you for taking the time to watch this video and share your question, I appreciate your engagement!
Thankfully, with 64 GB of RAM you shouldn’t have to worry about your paging file size! Even at its worst, Star Citizen doesn’t usually use up more than about 42 GB of RAM. Although if you have a ton of free storage space, setting it to 16,000 certainly wouldn’t hurt! Although I think you’d be able to do just as well 8,000 or even the default in all honesty 👌 And thanks for taking the time to watch this video and share your question, I really appreciate your engagement!
Surprisingly no! Based on how Star Citizen optimizes the game, even older systems benefit tremendously from native resolution, very high graphics and borderless mode. It comes down to how inefficient the game currently is and it’s bottlenecks with CPU utilization in particular!
@@sedb6967 Surprisingly I’ve found that it has a really marginal impact on framerate, if at all! But tweak these settings to your best liking, just make sure to restart the client each time and verify after to make sure nothings cached!
Yes this helps with a wide variety of GPU and other hardware, and the paging file size specifically addresses a lot of stuttering performance problems in my experience!
motion blur is really useful if you set your shutter speed right to fill the gap between Frames on low Hz monitors i use to have it off but i find it makes the trains look better and isn't too aggressive compared to other games. don't forget to set compatibility to disable full screen optimizations in the shortcut. Virtual memory shouldn't be a problem if you have an SSD installed there are some user.cfg settings i like using too but i gotta make copys and keep it on a cloud or something the user data has a habbit of resetting.
Arcade Alchemist, thanks for taking the time to watch the video and drop a comment! I didn’t know that about motion blur, but thanks for letting me know! I typically find the drawbacks outweigh the benefits, but I haven’t done that same testing for low HZ monitors. That’s really interesting to know if can really help in some situations! I’ll have to checkout those additional screen optimizations and see if there’s other things I’ve been missing too! Funnily enough, I just helped SublininaL the other month with constant crashes he was having. This was resolved by increasing his virtual memory from its default to 32000; this was on his M.2 NVME as well. Personally I couldn’t run the game on my older test bench until I did this (despite it being on a 970 Evo SSD).

I’ve pretty much universally avoided motion blur since I dislike the effect so much haha, but I’m really curious in checking out the impact on low Hz monitors; I never heard of that before!
@@arcadealchemist Those are going to be so nice! Honestly nothing beats the single-core performance in Star Citizen’s current Alpha like Intel chips and their blazing single core performance. I’ve done a lot of tests with AMD cpus but found they consistently underperformed their counterparts. I was speaking with Hive Quadrant the other week and confirmed from them there are noticeable microstutters present across their line alongside some other small performance variances that pop up in game. These do affect other titles but are exacerbated with Star Citizens issues already. They definitely lead to small noticeable problems that take you out of the enjoyment! Thankfully I’ve had no issues with either my i7-2600 or 10700k, both of which perform above and beyond expectations!
Something is definitely off, you should be getting much better frame rates. I’m sorry you’re having such low performance in game. Have you updated all your settings to the ones in my guide? TheViperian, thanks for taking the time to watch the video and ask a great question! Right now, there are several benefits to borderless over full screen, even though this is counterintuitive to how most games are currently optimized! For whatever reason, (and testing across a variety of hardwares), borderless gets you more frames per second then full screen in the vast majority of situations. Additionally, full screen star citizen is subject to a lot more bugs, and simple things from a Discord notification to a background process can hitch the game and cause a desktop client crash. On top of all of that, borderless mode gives you the additional ability to seamlessly go between other programs without having to worry about alt tabbing, which can cause a desktop crash in and of itself!
@@TheViperian Thank you so much, I really appreciate your kind words! Im glad you enjoy the content and strive to only keep getting better as I continue! That’s a great question! After testing this extensively in a large number of situations, I found that borderless actually leads to more frames and smoother performance (less noticeable hitching) along with an overall greater reduction in client crashes! @@loopscoop I think that’s a fantastic attitude to approach Star Citizen with, and I think you’ll get a lot of enjoyment from this project that way! I backed in 2014, so I’m familiar with the long delays and low frame rates the game used to be subject to, but the recent improvements over the past 12 months at CIG have bolstered a lot of faith in me as a backer and in deliverable contact for the game! I’ve done everything possible to try and run this game. So many guides and everything and still can’t make it to my ship I crash somewhere between getting out of bed and making it to gun and armor shop.
This sounds like it’s a memory leak, caused by a lack of sufficient ram (or fast enough ram). I experienced this exact same issue on an older testbed but was able to resolve it once I increased my paging file size (detailed in this video and description). What is your system memory and what’s your paging file size? Unfortunately Star Citizen currently can eat up over 42Gb of DDR4 running at high speeds. You may have to tweak with what’s best for you, although very high should push more power to your GPU, rather than CPU! I test bench this on a range of hardware, and reference against a 10 year old i7-2600 with 1650 slim, which performs much better with these settings!
@@AgnosiaAgnosis Check your in game FPS and utilization with ~ then type “r_displayinfo_4” and see what percentages your CPU/GPU are using. @@MrSulen-bi5nu Unfortunately it sounds like you’re definitely at the limit of your hardware, especially if you’re already getting 30+ frames! My only other suggestion would be taking a look at the most recent Nvidia settings update that was discovered this week! You could check out another RUclipsr, Montoya who just released a video on this! Essentially, in your Nvidia control panel settings you are able to change a specific value that some people have seen a dramatic increase in FPS from! I haven’t tried this personally, but everyone that I have spoken with states that it is a significant improvement for them! Anywhere from an extra 10 to 30 frames per second!
I’ve tested the settings on a number of different hardwares, including 10700k/GTX3070 an i72600/1650slim and FX8350/GTX970 along with several other combinations! These settings almost universally improve frame rates regardless of hardware type, as the game is so weirdly/poorly optimized at the moment. Although it’s looking like a lot of these optimizations are finally coming, some of which did release in 3.15, but the largest of which were still awaiting; hopefully by the end of 2022 🤞
There are so many different hardware types, definitely do what works best for you! But I’ve tested on some really old hardware and noticed borderless works best for me. But give it a few tries on the same server and see what your performance difference is!

But once you unlock that it should get significant performance improvements afterwards! The game is heavily CPU bottlenecked, so try and narrow down where that bottleneck is coming from; once that’s being fully utilized, the frames will really take off!
That’s really unfortunate, I’m sorry to hear your performance has been so bad. You’re the only person who has mentioned these changes had a negative impact. What setup are you using? GPU, CPU, Ram and Drive (ssd, nvme, hdd)?
@@ViciDeum GPU: GTX 1660 super CPU: i5 10400F Ram: 16GB Drive: Kingston SSD im sorry if my previous comment seemed aggressive or attacking towards you, i was just desperate :(
@@abuelasarnosa2121 No offense taken, I'm just sorry you haven't been able to enjoy the game. That's unfortunate these steps didn't help though. It very well could have been the recent changes with Invictus/recent server performance as well; I've noticed a lot of performance problems these past few days and bad server health. Your PC is definitely towards the minimum spec requirements, but I have a test bench with very similar specs to you; i7-2600/1650slim/16Gb of DDR3 but these settings had a HUGE improvement on framerate. I'd also make sure you're deleting your shaders folder each time in %APPDATA% - Just remove all the Star Citizen folders and verify before restarting the game. And I'd double check after the event or on different regions just to be sure!
@@ViciDeum i switched star citizen from my usb hard drive (:D) to (:C) and everything works a lot better man my fps went from around 20-30 to maybe 45-60 sometimes in crowded places you dont know how grateful i am man. you are the best of the best

Increasing the paging file size shouldn’t have any negative impact, unless you’re maxing out your disc space. But I’ve tested these across dozens of hardware types. Are you restarting your computer and re-verifying your game files before relaunching? Otherwise you’re not making any changes, but sitting on the old cache!
@@ViciDeum I did restart and verified.. all other things gained me like 3 FPS 2070S i7-9700K but that with the RAM decreased the FPS by a lot, atleast in A18. I just reverted that and keep the 3 FPS, its not too much of a bother for me as anywhere where I gotta fight is high-fps anyway
This game can be absolutely brutal, but optimizations have been ongoing. That said, it’ll likely be a year before we see the largest improvements. But did you apply all the steps in this guide and the pinned comment? If so, what were your frame rate improvements? These steps should significantly improve your experience, at the very least removing microstutters and crashes!
@@ViciDeum Yeah I followed all the steps, I have 32gb of ram but apparantly not enough space on my c drive to make it 32000 so i had to use around 10000. That was the only thing I couldnt do exactly, saying that I think my GPU and CPU are pushed to their limits with this game.
@@ifonlyyoustillskated That’s unfortunate, it does sound like you’ve hit the limits of your physical hardware. And lastly, if you haven’t already checked out my pinned comment, switch off volumetric clouds altogether for a bit more performance as well. Beyond that, just awaiting Gen 12 improvements along with other optimizations on their end or upgrading your PC is going to be the only other solutions.
What doesn’t make sense? I’d be happy to help explain anything further! I got these settings by testing them extensively in game across a range of hardware types and found them to be universally the best. Did you experience worse performance after making these changes?
I’m sorry to hear that, although it could be individual server performance differences. Are you running off a HDD or USB bootable? These settings see pretty universal improvement tested across different hardware types but it could just be your setup. What are your specs?
@@ViciDeum I'm on ssd and ive got a 1080 ti. 16 gigs installed. And I followed everything you did. I doubt it's server performance cause its clearly an fps issue

Jonathan, I’m sorry this guide didn’t work for you. Unfortunately this game is in Alpha and you’re best bet is just to await a proper fix from the game itself. If you’d like to, I can go over some troubleshooting to help investigate this further. What are your specs and average FPS in-game? Specifically, what do you get in cities, what do you get in deep space, and what resolution are you playing on? And did you follow the guide exactly, changing each setting as I mentioned in the video? I’ve tested this across various hardwares; from AMD to Intel, different graphics cards, etc. And I’ve noticed an improvement in both FPS and overall stability with every single one of those. But thank you for taking the time to watch this video and share your thoughts, I really appreciate your engagement!
After making these changes? I’m sorry to hear that. Sometimes it’s individual server performance, did you restart your computer after making these changes? Also what are your pc specs?
FreakSheep, I’m sorry that this guide didn’t help you. Unfortunately Star Citizen is incredibly unoptimized, and the best solution would be to wait until they continue to improve performance from their end. These were the best settings that I have discovered after extensive testing on a variety of hardware, created to help people in whatever ways are possible from our end. But on average this has improved performance for the vast majority of players who’ve followed these settings. What FPS were you getting in-game before these changes and what is your hardware; cpu, gpu, ram and hard drive type?
In what ways? Your game is performing worse, your Pc caught fire? You’ll need to provide more info on your specs or FPS for any help. Did you restart your game and computer? Have you tested across different servers? What is your “display_info 4” utilization percentages? These settings have been universally optimized across hundreds of hardware types. Are you rocking an Intel 12th + gen and already disabled e-cores? I can help but I need more info!
Unfortunately this game isn’t currently optimized and I’d suggest waiting until a more significant update if you aren’t happy with the performance. These settings are designed to help you get you the most FPS possible in its current state!
You can either add and select it from that Manage 3D settings program list if it’s available, or you can browse for the file as well! But even if you don’t change this, you’ll still be able to get the biggest value from the paging file size and in-game settings!
Turn off Planet Volumetric Clouds for even more FPS! They just added this option and it can add significant performance!
Does this turn off clouds completely? I want the best performance possible without ruining the beauty of the game

Although if you have a ton of free storage space, setting it to 16,000 certainly wouldn’t hurt! Although I think you’d be able to do just as well 8,000 or even the default in all honesty 👌

surely setting graphics to very high, not downgrading the resolution and having max field of view is really bad?
Surprisingly no! Based on how Star Citizen optimizes the game, even older systems benefit tremendously from native resolution, very high graphics and borderless mode. It comes down to how inefficient the game currently is and it’s bottlenecks with CPU utilization in particular!
@@ViciDeum interesting. but surely max FOV is worse since its putting significantly more on the screen than min fov?

Because I have loads of stuttering and lag
Yes this helps with a wide variety of GPU and other hardware, and the paging file size specifically addresses a lot of stuttering performance problems in my experience!
Will the virtual memory actually use drive space, so say if I have 100gb left and I use 10gb of ram, would it only show as having 90gb on my drive?

Why borderless? Is it better than Fullscreen?

Why borderless instead of Fullscreen?
That’s a great question! After testing this extensively in a large number of situations, I found that borderless actually leads to more frames and smoother performance (less noticeable hitching) along with an overall greater reduction in client crashes! It is unusual, and doesn’t follow the trend with other games where it is the opposite! And thanks for taking the time to watch this video and leave a comment, I really appreciate your engagement!

Congratulations on the 2060, even those cards are still hard to get in this market! Hopefully the new GPU and settings gives you some kickass performance in-game!
And based on what I’m seeing with 3.15 performance, once that goes live you should be able to get even better frame-rates!
@@ViciDeum just having a good time strolling around learning the game and seeing how much they put into it haha, kinda feels like when I was playing cyberpunk with some fps drops in big crowded areas but nothing below like 50 so far so not that bad, I mean shot I grew up with ps2 and 3 so I could care less about some frame drops sometimes but my friend said it used to be a lot worse haha
I unfortunately haven’t had a chance to jump into 3.15 yet myself, but based on community content I’m seeing every day, I have never been more excited to play a patch yet! I just can’t wait to unleash my inner loot goblin haha
Honestly the game has some incredible moments I’ve never had matched in a game.
This is only compounded with the lack of loading screens and incredibly immersive areas! And with the consistency and quality of content, I couldn’t be happier with the progress or more excited as a backer!
But increasing your paging file size to 32000 for both your values should resolve this!
And I really appreciate you taking the time to watch this video and ask these questions, I’m happy to help with any troubleshooting I can!
@@ViciDeum oh okay I will try this!! Mine was at 16000 based off another video I saw! Even if this doesn’t I really appreciate your fast response and you earned a sub from me! Thanks you so much sir!

You may have to tweak with what’s best for you, although very high should push more power to your GPU, rather than CPU! I test bench this on a range of hardware, and reference against a 10 year old i7-2600 with 1650 slim, which performs much better with these settings!

Something’s not right, but I believe you’re taking all the right steps! Just for reference, I’m using a 10700k and 3070 and getting around 60fps at 1440p almost everywhere.
It sounds like some setting, windows setting, or background program is tanking your performance. Have you followed all the steps in the guide, especially borderless mode? You can also check more in-depth settings in game by “~r_displayinfo 4” and after doing that, what’s your GPU/CPU utilization?
It sounds like your CPU isn’t pumping as hard as it could, but I’d love to help you figure out why!

thanks, but i gained nothing:( i usally have between 20-40fps and i didnt see any difference... unless i was on a shittier server after the changes and they canceled each other out lol
Mr Sullen, I’m sorry these settings didn’t work for you! Unfortunately you are the first person to mention that, but I do believe you! While it’s certainly possible the server performance varied your FPS, you should still see some significant improvements. Btw what is your hardware?

@@MrSulen-bi5nu Unfortunately it sounds like you’re definitely at the limit of your hardware, especially if you’re already getting 30+ frames! My only other suggestion would be taking a look at the most recent Nvidia settings update that was discovered this week! You could check out another RUclipsr, Montoya who just released a video on this!
Essentially, in your Nvidia control panel settings you are able to change a specific value that some people have seen a dramatic increase in FPS from! I haven’t tried this personally, but everyone that I have spoken with states that it is a significant improvement for them! Anywhere from an extra 10 to 30 frames per second!
what were your specs
I’ve tested the settings on a number of different hardwares, including 10700k/GTX3070 an i72600/1650slim and FX8350/GTX970 along with several other combinations!
These settings almost universally improve frame rates regardless of hardware type, as the game is so weirdly/poorly optimized at the moment.
But if these settings do ever end up changing, or become outdated I will update everything herein accordingly and post an updated guide as well!
And thank you for taking the time to watch this video and share your question, I really appreciate your engagement!

@@theatlasvision Following every step in this guide! Seriously, applying each one of these should altogether help improve your FPS dramatically! But unfortunately beyond those settings, you would just have to buy new hardware or await another update with some performance improvements sadly.
Although it’s looking like a lot of these optimizations are finally coming, some of which did release in 3.15, but the largest of which were still awaiting; hopefully by the end of 2022 🤞
I think full screen works better... at least for me. (i have an old pc)
There are so many different hardware types, definitely do what works best for you! But I’ve tested on some really old hardware and noticed borderless works best for me. But give it a few tries on the same server and see what your performance difference is!

With all settings changed I get around 5-20 fps with a RTX 3080 and a Ryzen 3950x ...hm :(
Something’s definitely not adding up here, and it’s not your fault but something to do with your hardware or how it’s being used by the software in-game. For reference, I’ve got a 10700k and a 3070 and using these exact steps/settings in the video average 40-75 FPS.
I’d recommend going in game and typing “~” then “r_displayinfo 4” and seeing what your GPU/CPU utilizations are to help narrow down your culprit. With your components I’m assuming you’re using 32Gb of Ram with an NVME M.2.
Also, what were your frame rates before doing these changes? Feel free to respond herein and I’d be more than happy to help! Hopefully we can solve this 😁👊
@@ViciDeum thanks for helping! :D
Yes I got an M2 and 64GB Ram (game users about 30GB right now) I just checked all the settings again and changed to shader cache to 10GB - now I reach an average of 30fps (not higher than 35) which is much much better but whenever I move it drops below 20 😄 after turning the Displayinfo on it shows for example GPU Mem total is 5800/10100 so that should be good and my CPU usage is around 30%... I use bitlocker on that M2 so maybe that lowers the speed somehow so around 30 is the max I can get? Or is there something else specific I could check in the displayinfo tab? my nvidia settings should be good 😓
@@alone-vf4vy You’re very welcome, and I’m happy to help! It definitely sounds like your CPU and GPU aren’t being properly utilized, especially as the game often maximized 100% of your CPU usage, which is often the biggest bottleneck.
Is it possible another background application or setting is hogging these resources? And is your Nvidia program set to maximum performance?
@@ViciDeum yes maximum Performance.. Hm... maybe it's because I have bit locker activated on my M2 😒😅😅
@@alone-vf4vy That could definitely be it! For whatever reason the game just isn’t using your hardware to its potential. But once you unlock that it should get significant performance improvements afterwards! The game is heavily CPU bottlenecked, so try and narrow down where that bottleneck is coming from; once that’s being fully utilized, the frames will really take off!

So false
FreakSheep, I’m sorry that this guide didn’t help you. Unfortunately Star Citizen is incredibly unoptimized, and the best solution would be to wait until they continue to improve performance from their end.
These were the best settings that I have discovered after extensive testing on a variety of hardware, created to help people in whatever ways are possible from our end. But on average this has improved performance for the vast majority of players who’ve followed these settings.
What FPS were you getting in-game before these changes and what is your hardware; cpu, gpu, ram and hard drive type?
this shit did not work
In what ways? Your game is performing worse, your Pc caught fire? You’ll need to provide more info on your specs or FPS for any help.
Did you restart your game and computer? Have you tested across different servers? What is your “display_info 4” utilization percentages?
