This game saved me from s*icide, let me try to shorten the story. About five years ago I was in foster care due to reasons I wouldn’t like to discuss, and I just kept on moving to different places because not many people were a fan of me due to my excessive talking. I lost most of my things whenever I moved, but there was something I always kept with me: my Nintendo switch. One day I found out about undertale and I saved up for a gift card to buy it. I was depressed due to the death of my dad recently and was thinking about self harm. Once I bought undertale I started playing it, and everything cheered me up, from the music to the characters. I loved this part because everyone’s happy and such a happy song was playing. It toughtme many things that I probably wouldn’t have learned if it weren’t here. Now today I have been adopted by someone who really loves me and I just wanna say thank you to Toby and anyone else who helped make this
I'm so grateful you're still here with us buddy, even in your tough times, a game filled you with determination, to go on. I hope you are doing well know. While my situation is very minuscule compared to yours, I was very sad the past few months, something happened recently which made me cry several times a day, but then this through this game, I smiled, I laughed, I gave happy tears

never played undertale once. this song still has something special about it. just a nostalgic feeling over all. it tells you everything will be okay. but in a sad way that has you still reminiscing of past times. everything is okay, but not as good as they were back then. you did it. you beat the antagonist, or solved the huge catastrophic problem. everything went as according to plan and turned out the best it possibly could have. why do you feel that there is something missing? everything is alright. but.. no, it isn't. for some reason. what could possibly be wrong?! as I'm typing this, I realize that the song gives off such an intense nostalgic feeling, it represents a certain type of ptsd, that of which rather than hoping the past never happened, you wish that you could go back to before the more recent past happened, the event that caused your ptsd, because before that was when everything was perfect. rather than being the polar opposite of nostalgia, it's an extreme case of it. like when you run the bathtub water and you accidentally nudge the hot water tap and the water becomes so hot that it almost feels cold to the touch.
Despite everything. The battles you've fought, friends you've made, *friends you've lost* , the days gone by. It's still you. *And that will never change*

You gotta love how Undertale still remains to be relevant whether it’s through memes, or simply through the passion people still have for it. Still one of the games that changed so many people’s perspectives for video games.
Am I the only one who would hug Asgore as well? I know he did some bad things, but... let's be honest, if it wasn't for Asriel's death, none of the Fallen Humans's deaths would've happened.
Mike Sky I don't know why so many people love Toriel, either. She was the smart one... and she bailed on Asgore when he needed her most, leaving him to kind of fumble around in the dark. To go save other children who fell down. Only to... not save any of them.
ZhangJao It's a shame they broke up though, if you think about it this is all Chara's fault, he hated life itself and made Asgore really sick then after he died he made Asriel die too. that's what started the war
I love how Toriel asks Frisk which flavor the player prefers more and still feels the need to make them both in one pie! She thought it would be nice for one of the first people who have fallen down since Chara! All of the things she did for Frisk were things she did to Chara and that made her happy to know she can finally have someone like Chara back, but yknow. Betrayal
@@sevenwaysYT yup! I’ve had to restart the game many times after doing something wrong when I’m trying to get the genocide route so it’s cool how most things happen after you restart

Toby had tuned the notes in this song a bit lower for the extra nostalgic feel. That means the notes you hear are familiar, yet unknown. Sweet, yet tragic.

In the Undertale universe, "Fallen Down" is the comatose state a monster enters before turning to dust and passing away. Death is a very important topic in Undertale, and this song does a fantastic job at representing it by being happy and melancholic at the same time. Because they're all in a better place now, anyway.
Interesting theory, seeing as though they seem to kneel and/or pass out before they turn to dust. I don't know much about that though because i rarely kill :troll:
I really don't know why this game has stuck with me unlike anything else. I don't know if it's the humor, the characters, the music, the memorable boss fights, the story, or maybe it's all of the above. It's not the perfect game, it has some flaws. The game really didn't need wild encounters, it could've worked without them. But somehow, after all this time, I still just want to go back. I still want to see it all. I want to see all my friends again, have funny interactions with them, I just want to be apart of the world once more
I believe the encounters make it easier to bait the absent-minded player into playing it like a normal RPG. I liked the characters, music and gameplay the most
@@gabrote42 exactlyyyy, more opportunities to become a mindless killer, and it makes each encounter extremely important in order to get the true pacifist ending
I feel you exactly bro, but I think the encounters definitely add to the story as the other guy said, but the vibe of the story and it’s characters make me feel nostalgic and want to come back. Listening to the ost especially brings back this feeling, this song most of all
This reunion scene takes a bit of a dark turn when you think about it. Papyrus' statement implies that Flowey manipulated him into bringing everyone into the room so he could take their SOULs... but Toriel came of her own accord, if Alphys' statement is anything to go by. So if Toriel showing up wasn't part of Flowey's plan, and she only came because she felt concerned about your safety, why does Toriel show up in the True Pacifist Ending and not the Neutral Ending? Because all the time you spent exploring the True Lab gave her enough time to make up her mind about coming to your rescue. In a Neutral Ending, she must've made up her mind too late, and arrived to see her former husband dead, her adopted child gone, and (possibly) her son, in flower form, dead.
Well in the neutral ending the fight takes place in the barrier and it seems like after the fight Chara/Frisk gets stuck in it or just refuse to leave considering that Sans' phonecall reaches them and Flowey pops up too.
This song was my best friends favorite. I didnt play undertale and he was so upset about it, always telling that I should play it. In the end of 9th grade, he walked to me and said: "You should play it even when I'll be gone." I thought he said it because he wanted to go to college. Next day his mom called me. Turned out he got stage 4 cancer just before ending the 9th grade. He didnt want to tell about it to me for unknown reason but it's understandable. Immediately after that I played the entire game and wrote a note: "You were right. Miss you." and put it on balcony. Next day it was gone like he took it. It's been 8 years and this song popped up in my recommendations and I remembered him. Thank you, Toby Fox. And I miss you Brian. I hope you are having fun over there, you are in better place now. Edit: thanks y’all for support, I really appreciate that and I’m sure Brian does too. Edit 2: thank y'all again for everything, I really appreciate it. Times got better, I got a dog and we decided to name him after Brian. Fly high bro♥️. I miss you.
Hope you have the determination to keep on and hold your memories to your heart Even in the most dire times You will know You will meet up with him one day Just not in this world Not today Nor tomorrow Life is full of tragedies I'm sure he would like you to see you flourish in this civilization. Hope you have a wonderful life. Just remember everyone dies at some point and some are more early but remember, Even though if your dead you can leave an impact. Mentally or physically It will be a great one I'm sure.
This song reminds me of a never ending loop of life and gives me so much nostalgia. It gives me a chance to calm down and thing about my past and my childhood.
same- i never even played undertale either. it makes me think of every fictional universe ive thrown myself into, and realizing ill never be able to really go there
The moment the root snaked across the screen and grabbed everyone, all I could do was utter a soft, "Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu...," realizing that everything was fucked beyond all reason.
If you mix up -sadness -nostalgia -happiness -the “:D” emoji -the “:,)” emoji -simpleness (idk?) -Love and care -Piano -Time and patience -*Hopes* -*Dreams* You will get this song.
This is my favorite song in the Undertale soundtrack. It's considered to be Toriel's theme song- and for a good reason. She lost her son, and a human child who was so close to her they were considered her child. She left her husband out of anger and sadness. She locked herself away from the outside world. Her whole life seemed to have "fallen down."
yet she inspired a child fallen down like the others so much, that the child made it trough the barrier fighting the monsters wich later on would became their friends
When I first saw Toriel, I didn't trust her at all, after the whole "murderous flower" incident. By the end, I found myself truly happy to see her again. One of the few characters that I've ever changed my opinion of throughout a game.
+LeoNepeta you mean where she saved you from the murderous flower, then guided you all the way through to the end of the ruins, and then refused to attack you beyond a certain level of HP, you somehow were unable to trust her? idont think this was ever anyone's intention with the character nor do i think anyone else really felt this way
+Ohrami Something about her seemed really sinister to me. But after hearing leaving the ruins, and hearing Sans' story in Hotland, about the woman behind the door, I started to change my mind.
+LeoNepeta Probably because Flowey says "here, is kill or be killed", you expect everyone acting like that. I didn't trusth in Toriel, until she gives me free food.
+LeoNepeta same I actually didn't let my guard down even after I stayed at her house and had butterscotch pie (Flowey creeped me out pretty bad so). Reading that description of the items around the house ( e.g. "there are shoes of various sizes" "look at all these neat toys!") made me even warier of her. It was only after the battle with her when she tells you to be good and hugs you did I feel any sentimentality towards her character. ._."
I miss my mom. She lives an 8-hour drive away and has myasthenia gravis. She could have anywhere between 2 weeks and 20 years left to live. I visited her last week and plan to visit more often but... it'll never feel like I've visited her enough when her time comes.
I hope things are good and if they aren't, I hope they will get better, and I hope you can spend as much time as you want with her! Also I hope she is fine too :)

Hearing Fallen down again after the true lab was such an experience, but even before the continuation of the song, something feels different here and i think that's so cool.
that reminds me when i accidentally killed toriel the first time i played this game i was like i deserved the punishment flowey gave me at the end of neutral run.
Just remember while you’re sitting there thinking about anything: You’ve survived 100% of your hardest days so far, why not keep going and see where it takes you.
In this song, if you listen closely, you can hear a woman singing in the background. Most likely Toriel. But in empty house, the song you hear when coming back to Toriel's house after killing her, you cant hear any singing. *I'm literally sobbing, thanks Toby.* Holy shit I've never gotten this many likes what
On the 29th of last month at 8:30AM my mom passed away and all I could think of was this song when remembering everything I experienced as a little kid all the way up to now with her and the rest of my family. This isn't just because this seems just like one of those kind of songs where you remember all the good and hard times. Its because Toriel a character that you meet very early on in the game reminds me a lot of my own mom with how thoughtful, funny, and tough she was. That being said, this song hits me way harder now than it did 5 years ago when I originally played and beat the game. I so badly wish she was still here because its really hard breaking out of old habits I've been so used to doing for so long everyday like walking by the living room she was always in to say hi, giving a her a big hug before leaving for work or other times when I wasn't busy, sharing funny videos with her or cool things I did like something I did in a game or a finished drawings, and chatting with her when I wasn't super busy with work for advice on things that were troubling me or even just for fun, but at the same time I'm glad she's free now of all the pain her illnesses had caused her. She used to fight it relentlessly until her very last breath. Home maybe a lot different without her here anymore especially during the holidays, but the memories of all the holidays celebrated together, conversations had, accomplishments shared, and shows/movies watched together will forever remain the same. Going forward, new memories can be created in that same now very quite living room to add on to the previous memories and make it feel like the same old home, sweet home both the family and I are used to. I'm sure she would have wanted that.
I associate this song with summer, with pleasant memories... This music cannot be described in words... This is sadness, fear, fun and calm... The most beautiful music
I don't know, this reminds me of sadness when I think of it. Of what was of something and now is nothing.. Sounds like the end of the world and all the good things and bad things that's happened. I wise man once said, “Our sweetest songs are those that tell of saddest thought.”. So if this is sweet to you then it must be sweet to others. Just reminds me of sad and past memories. Put this to 0.75 and you will get what I mean....

Mike Sky I don't know why so many people love Toriel, either. She was the smart one... and she bailed on Asgore when he needed her most, leaving him to kind of fumble around in the dark. To go save other children who fell down. Only to... not save any of them.
ZhangJao
It's a shame they broke up though, if you think about it this is all Chara's fault, he hated life itself and made Asgore really sick then after he died he made Asriel die too. that's what started the war

In the Undertale universe, "Fallen Down" is the comatose state a monster enters before turning to dust and passing away.
Death is a very important topic in Undertale, and this song does a fantastic job at representing it by being happy and melancholic at the same time.
Because they're all in a better place now, anyway.

Correct! For every call you get in a Neutral ending, it says the queen leaves the Ruins and goes back to ruling.

Yo stop letting the memories flood in
@Muffinconsumer4 i would agree with you if this game had a very simple plot and one note characters
but come on
Babababababa baaaa babababa
you mean the ruins?
It was only after the battle with her when she tells you to be good and hugs you did I feel any sentimentality towards her character. ._."
You people gotta put your guard down sometimes, damn, there’s nothing sinister about toriel.
