This new Zelos comes to us with a refined new case and a fresh new swiss movement. Manufacture La Joux-Perret is owned by citizen group now but it is swiss made. They were founded in La Chaux-de-Fonds in the 1990s and specialized assembling and finishing ebauches from ETA. Now with their new ETA2824 killer movement in this new watch. Diemensions the same, except height. It is slimmer then the 2824 but taller then the 2892. If this movement has no reliability issues like the reverser gears in the SW200 and ETA 2824, then this is worth the premium many times over! The G100 is a new movement architecture unveiled by La Joux-Perret in Spring 2021

I'm not finding this on there site
It should be up soon! It is slated for release mid Feb. So just keep checking.
@@EscapementWatch ok thank you
Check out the Timekeepers FB group to keep up to date on Zelos releases and sneak peeks
In video I said movement is from 2020 it is 2021! oops! I misspoke! I'm also sure I miss pronounced Perret and all other French terms in this video! -Falling
Never gotten a Zelos before but this is really cool looking. Hopefully, the movement is a good one!
Thanks for showing this beauty and presenting the highlights. I'm definitely in for one with the 12-hr bezel.
Good choice! 12hr bezels are awesome!
Nice review. Big fan of Zelos with a HH2, Blacktip and SF 40 in my collection. This looks kinda like a cross between a Blacktip and a SF 40. Definitely has Blacktip-esque hands. Great movement and exhibition case back is icing on the cake!
I got the one with the copper dial, it's a beautiful, refined watch and the movement is very accurate, at most 1 s deviation per day for me.
Unbelievable footage! Great job bro!
I'm digging this. Definitely will be looking out for this if doesn't sell out quickly.
Cheers!
When will it sale?
check out their website should go up in 1 week with more info.
A great looking watch FT. It certainly has a lot going for it. A well finished hardened case, textured dial etc. 4 Hz movement and ~70 hours is good as well as good lume. I'd have to see the different dial colours in the flesh. It's definitely worth a look. Who knows it might cause an itch that might be scratched at some point in the future.
Yes a homerun from the brand! I like it!
I almost spat out my drink when I saw you rubbing the bracelet back and forward against itself to highlight the bracelet articulation. I could hear the watch scream out in anguish... just me ? :). Beautiful watch.. finally a Zelos I think I could buy.
Testing that hardened coating... ;)
hahahaha
Was looking at a mako v3 ti, excited to see this one
This is gorgeous. Now I wait until it is on sale
Cool movement - finally and update to the ancient 2824/SW200.
Nice watch from Zelos - probably the first Zelos that got my attention. I just wish they had more...'toned down' dials.
Because it is a complete different design. It is a Swiss made Miyota 9015.
Well done, Zelos!! Thank you EW!
Our pleasure!
Hi , can I check, I got a 5.9inch/15cm wrist. U think the bracelet able to fit nicely? Thanks
Can't wait to see how popular those ljp movements with watches companies!
I think it will be very popular the minimum order quantity is low as well so they can do small batches. I hope oris makes a bigcrown pointer date with one of these and ditch the eta/sw
@@EscapementWatch perfect match for oris. They can definitly market it has an improvement on older eta designed movement. If the price stay in line that will be definitely great.
That would be a dream for me as i"m itching to buy the new 38mm BC volante deer skin models but the movement is my slight hesitation. oris has been with sellita for ages so I do not think they will want to end their best friend relationship unfortunately.
Thanks for reviewing this particular green version, it was all I needed to decide if I like it or not and I DO like it, very much actually. Now the biggest issue that I have is that I also like the green Christopher Ward C63 GMT and I can't decide between the 2, even though the CW is quite a few hundred bucks more than this Zelos. Yeah, I want a green dial watch :).
LJP movement should seal the deal, easy! No brainer! I will be going for the meteorite, will have to be ready as soon as they go on sale. Some dials will probably sell out within minutes (most aren't to my taste, except for the meteorite and green, although I have plenty of green dial watches). Elshans customer service is second to none. BUY with confidence.
@@grahamyoung622 I'll wait for them to show up in EU, I don't want to pay taxes. The only version I really like is this green one because I no longer have any green watches, I had a SARB017, but we didn't get along in the end.
Great review and therefore new subscriber!
Awesome, thank you!
Seems like a great value.
It really is!!! Thanks for watching!
I am sold!!🤣🤣
I love this watch, and I love the updates and upgrades to the Swordfish, one of which I own. The dial and hands are spectacular!
I'm very happy to see the inverted or female end link because, even on my 8 in wrist, those fit better and look better. However, I am disappointed to see that the leading edge of the solid end link does not line up with either the end or the edges of the lugs. It's off! Darn it all.
its normal for solid end links to tuck in like that and have the batman tip ears hang. Rolex started this trend and it looks great!
@@EscapementWatch Well you swim in deeper waters than I do. In my case, my Zelos Hammerhead end link matches the case without the bat wings. So does my Helm Vanuatu, Spinnaker Bradner, Scurfa Diver One, Avi-8 Flyboy, a couple of Citizens, an Aragon and maybe a few others. It might look good on a Rolex ( and in the emperor's new clothes) but it looks even better everywhere else when they match! 👍
Dunno is it coincidence but LJP has the same lift angle as Miyota (that is 51°) 9000 series. A hint that they are owned by Citizen? Nice watch. Can not wait to get mine hands on it. So eager to try that movement. At least it does not have some issues like other two swiss movements. Zelos did a good move to offer us something truly new.
winding and rotor also feel similar to the miyota 9000 series. Not sure if the rotor is uni-directional tho.
@@EscapementWatch Yep it is one direction winding just like Miyota. Has much Miyota in itself like similar rotor and 3 screws on rotor.
I mean if you just take a look at the two movements side by side, it is not difficult to realize that this is basically just a Swiss made slightly modified 9015.
TO ANYONE CONSIDERING BUYING THIS WATCH:
I just received my (Burnt Orange) Spearfish yesterday, and the watch arrived broken. While I was sizing the bracelet, I noticed that it hadn't started running yet and the rotor wouldn't spin. To my astonishment, I could see a small screw wedged between the edge of the rotor and the caseback. Upon closer inspection, it appears this was one of the screws that connected the 3/4 bridge to the mainplate of the movement. Not sure how it fell out (the threads appear intact), but this is a very concerning QC issue from Zelos (and LJP's new movement).
The bracelet screws are also very poorly machined and hard to work with -- they strip VERY easily.
I reported the damaged movement to Zelos yesterday, but I haven't gotten any reply yet. At this point, I think I might send it back for a full refund unless they can offer me a longer warranty for a replacement. Very distressing :(
I would be surprised if you don't receive a replacement. Zelos is known for outstanding customer service.
Definitely the best from Zelos so far. But why not on their homepage? Weird.
Because it hasn't been released yet. It will appear about a week before release.
Great review! You said you had a little difficulty sizing the bracelet, do you mind explaining what the difficulty was and how you overcame it.
Also do you test all the bracelet screws for tightness? If you do, do you use threadlock (222 low strength) on all the screws or only loose screws including the ones loosened to adjust the bracelet?
some screws would not thread back in. I overcame it by using other spare links with their screws. Very tiny with a lot of threading. I tried backing it out and hearing a pop to guide it in and wasn't working for 2 screws. All screws were tight and I used no locktit because the threads are so long they felt secure.
@@EscapementWatch Thank you so much for your reply. Would you mind answering one last question, do you ever use threadlock (222 low strength) on a bracelet with screws, and do you think it is needed? I have read that some people have had screws back out and most only noticed when their watch hit the floor. I have only ever resized bracelets with spring bars or pin and collar and I want to be confident in resizing a bracelet that uses screws.
I had a couple watches fall from me with loose screws, so when I decide a watch is a keeper for long timer I use the low strength loctite.
@@EscapementWatch Thank you once again for your reply. It is both helpful and appreciated.
Any more info on the movement? Any rotor wobble or weird stuff?
it is based on the Miyota 9015. It is basically a 9015 beefed up with higher quality parts and made thicker to replace ETA's. It does have rotor wobble but it is less noticeable on the g100 then the 9015.
Something that always gets under my skin with the watches is the date changing mechanism
In almost all mid tier watches (including swordfish with NH35 movement) the date starts moving at 10:30 pm until 1:00 am
Bugs me a lot
In Tudor and even around $800 Luminox, this doesn’t happen and it takes a 5 min window to set the next date
Need to see how it is for this swordfish
May be you can include that as well in your reviews please ..
If the design is based on an ETA 2824 or 2892 it will probably change between 11:30 & midnight
Date changes start to move at 11 exactly slight movement then snappy change at 12.
@@EscapementWatch do you know if the ljp movement can still be broken by using quick date at midnight or they improved that over the eta design?
@@LaFritePerreGoat I guess you can brake any movement so.
Well I haven't tried it. But I'm going to assume any movement can be broken if you play with the date during a natural date change time frame. Never risk it and just avoid it.
Seiko needs to step their game up with diashield - 200-650 hv is rather pitiful compared to 1200. And Zelos even does it on Ti!! Though I did get a titanium Skyraider II 6498 and it does not have the hardening. A bit bummed about that given the price of those.
Is this one going to be difficult to buy or what is the catch with this watch brand?
It might be sometimes they sell out really quick. Check out the zeloswatches website and you should be able to get it. They will probably make a titanium version in 6-9months if you miss this one.
Price increase is expected with the move from NH35....I definitely would pay it.
Yes a nice upgrade!!!!
When is it coming out?
Early to mid February!
@@EscapementWatch Thanks Sir. It's a great piece
forgot the weight?
We did the weight must have got cut out by mistake during edit. 144g sized up for my 6.5in wrist.
I am confused. Is the movement a 2824? You are comparing a 2824 to a 2824 and they are different. What’s up?
Movement is LJP-G100 competes against the 2824
@@EscapementWatch That makes sense. Sounds like a very good deal.
Go green or go home. 🤪
I have several Zelos and I enjoy them. But the new models have such bland dial colors. Orange and green are it if you like color and that’s not good enough.
Zelos AR usually are poor - how’s this one compare?
I didn't notice any trouble with the AR on this one
Overall nice watch, but it doesnt do anything to my eyes. Its just "people wanted a swiss movement so well give em something classic".For me too conservative.I think effect of sandwich indexes with upper surroundings like in Tuseno Shellback,or /Dietrich/Namica would give this extra something.🧐But no doubt people will be hunting them,it looks much more premium than Sworfish line.
Perrier. 😂🤣
Adding a more expensive movement doesn't change what Zelos is; a cheap microbrand. This doesn't make them a watchmaker with the infrastructure of a real watch brand. The movement hides what Zelos lacks. Don't be fooled.
Hey rolex was a microbrand all their life. They got 3rd companies to make their bracelets, 3rd party to make their movement, 3rd party to make their dials, 3rd party STILL makes their HANDSETs today!!! etc only recently after making millions off their suppliers they bought out their suppliers to becoming artificially inhouse. So there is nothing wrong with being a microbrand like Rolex used to be!
@@EscapementWatch don't bother, it's just a troll
@@EscapementWatch I totally agree with that. I know the history. I have experience with Zelos as well as other microbrands. As always, 'buy the seller'. There are microbrands at different levels for sure. My experience with Zelos was poor. Behind the sales website, there's little substance.
I don't even own a Zelos and this comment rings of ignorance.
@@frankquarters I have many watches and have owned Zelos. How is it ignorant? It's first hand experience.
Oris Aquis knockoff
First thought as well
I own an Aquis & the case shape is completely different!
@@Andrew.W75 same here, I wouldn’t compare it to the Aquis.
I'm shocked from that comparison. Aquis is so unique in the watch world that nothing looks like it. Kettle bell case with strange integrated lugs. Maybe the lume plots look the same? slim and baton style?
